Rondo the (Bulls) Destroyer

Rajon Rondo came into Chicago tonight and gored the Bulls.  He did it with passing, defense, boards, oh and a few buckets of his own.   If there is any doubt, Rondo officially owns the Bulls.   Brad Miller tried to even some scores from last year with a horse-collar tackle on Rajon early on, earning Bradley a flagrant foul.   Surely he would be happy taking the flagrant if it was traded for intimidating Rajon.   Well just a few moments later, there goes Rondo on the break with only Miller back.   What does RR do?   He aggressively pushed it into Miller, drew the contact, made the bucket, and sent Sad Brad to the bench with his second foul.   It turned out that Rajon sent the early message tonight (i.e. I'm not intimidated), and then backed it up by destroying the Bulls in the third quarter.

I pasted the box score after the jump because it is a thing of beauty.   Balanced scoring!  All starters not named Rajon played fewer than 30 minutes!   Everyone was a + tonight, even Tony!

Sloppy game.

It looked really sloppy, but we are just (by a large margin) the better team.

Just my opinion on tonights game :)

Couldn't have been that sloppy

We only had 12 TOs tonight. That’s relatively low for this team.

by KY Celts fan on Dec 12, 2009 10:58 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Scratch that

I was looking at the wrong line. That’s 9 TOs. That’s damn good for any team!

by KY Celts fan on Dec 12, 2009 11:00 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I meant messy.

Not sloppy.

It was just not as slick as the offense against the Wiz, for example.

The reason we have so few turnovers is because we often settled for awful shots — and that’s why we only shot .430 from the floor.

by kozlodoev on Dec 13, 2009 8:49 AM EST up reply actions

Indeed!

RR bullied bulls! So much for the Hyped-rookie of the year. He cant match Rondo!

I’ll go for TA as a back up for Rondo than House.

by poezappa on Dec 12, 2009 11:04 PM EST reply actions

TA

I still don’t like his decision making. He forced a few plays and had a couple of turnovers. I’d like for him to do well, but he just doesn’t make good decisions. I think Hudson makes smarter decisions.

by VtCeltics on Dec 13, 2009 1:16 AM EST up reply actions

Agree on House

I like House, but I don’t think he can handle the back-up point duties by himself. He needs the help of another ball handler (like Daniels).

Rondo

Was brilliant. Rondo will be in Dallas for sure.

I was a bit concerned seeing what appeared to be Pierce deteriorating throughout the game; a few sluggish shots to begin with, hurting his shoulder, then hurting his knee. Hopefully everything was feeling recovered with the extended time on the bench this game!

Bulls got Rondo'd!!!

Rondo’s earning that big payday he received. He has either outplayed or matched up well with Tony Parker, Gilbert Arenas, Brandon Jennings and now Derrick Rose over last several games.

Great Game C’s! Continue taking care of business!

Neutered Bulls

1.) I hope PP is OK…..PP played good D
2.) Scali played good D (even saw daylight beneath his shoes!!!)
3.) Sheed in the Sherwin (paint) – like it
4.) 26 three pointers!!! and made only 8 – that is poor. Eddie shoots 10 -too many
5.) Perk worked hard in the paint
6.) KG looked solid
7.) Rondo ….well you said it …he gored the bulls and neutered them.
8.) Tony Allen looked good? what?
9.) Sherwin knows his role
10.) Brad Miller , Mike Miller or whatever his name is…..needs to taste some hardwood splinters.

Is it Soup Yet?

Celtics are #1 in NBA!

Celtics win 10th in a row. And Lakers lose! Say hello to your new league leaders!

by KY Celts fan on Dec 12, 2009 11:29 PM EST via mobile reply actions

TA was terrible

3 bonehead plays in a row, 2 TOs in a row, after which Doc mercifully pulled him out till garbage time. He is what he is. He’ll never be adequate.

Paul had a very bad game. Happens, I guess. Shoulda stayed in bed today.

Otherwise, this was one of the Cs’ best games of the season. Q2 and Q3 defense was just AWESOME.

Perk was cool… in Q2, he took one move right out of PP’s playbook — the ol’ bring-the-arms-up-as-if-you’re-gonna-shoot because the defender is sticking his arms out at you, for a foul call. It worked perfectly.

The 2nd unit looked HOPELESS in Q2. No point guard, no direction, lost. They were much better in garbage time with Lester as PG. JR also did well in garbage time.

I think the Cs might be waiting to unload a roster spot in a trade by January… then they may activate Tyronn Lue, who, along with Lester (hopefully), would finally provide the backup PG this team sorely needs.

I agree about Miller. He needs to go down. Perk… wanna take a flagrant for the team? It’ll be worth it.

Rondo is the man

I was hard on Rondo early this season, felt he was not giving full effort every game and also was real down on his foul shooting. He is playing hard every night for the past several weeks, has obviously worked on his free throw shooting, and is the leader of this team. He keeps playing like this he should be an all star.

Can anyone else figure out why comcast gave KG the player of the game?

by takeit on Dec 13, 2009 1:32 AM EST reply actions

Probably for the high shooting % and double double. Or so Rondo didn’t get both player of the game and the Tommy award.

Great win. I could enjoy this one. I hate the close games vs bad teams, they are way too stressful.

by RICeltsFan on Dec 13, 2009 6:31 AM EST up reply actions

KG wasnt the player of the game by any stretch of the imagination…can one not get the tommy award and player of the game? lol not that it reall matters, just found it interesting
imo you could explain KGs great shooting % because of his pg finding him wide open for all of his shots

good to see them put the Bulls away

good to see them pull away in the 2nd half.

PP and TA did not have good games. House was gunning tonight—-took too many shots in a game where he wasn’t making enough.

RR, KG and Perk looked good.

Someone needs to lay out Brad Miller. The guy makes Laimbeer look clean. No excuse for the refs not to send him packing after that clothesline on Rondo. No attempt on the ball—just a straight-out clothesline.

by slamtheking on Dec 13, 2009 9:26 AM EST reply actions

Pretty much a "routine" win, bench played well

Even with this being a fairly close game in the first half, you could see how the C’s had an extra gear and were going to pull away against the tired Bulls. Defensive clamps were applied in the third quarter and then big shots started falling from the outside. Eddie had a few and Sheed had one from about 45 feet (but then he badly missed a 17 foot shot on the very next possession). Scal played well defensively.
