Cavs Looking For Trades

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports:

The Cavs are targeting several players believed to be on the trade market. Multiple sources said the team has been in touch about the following: Anthony Randolph, Troy Murphy, Antawn Jamison

The Cavs also just lost again tonight (to the Mavs), bringing their record to 20 - 7.

what?

cavs and the wizards negotiating a trade? Man the worlds crazy!

please, dont get the cavs Jamison, unless they trade him for lebron.

Why should teams bail out the Cavs? Cavs better have to give up something good for Jamison. Then again because of Lebron Stern will somehow let the Cavs have Jamison for a bag of chips. That is how Lakers got Gasol. LOL

I don't see the Cavs making any moves unless they include Big Z's expiring

Which they’ve been hesitant to do so far. So I’m not gonna worry about it until something actually goes down.

But if they get Antawn, the East is gonna get even tougher

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

really??

the lakers got gasol for a bag of chips?? really??

marc gasol?? great center for the future the man is already a beast and will only get better

10 million expriing contract of kwame.. nba owners love those these days

javaris critenton.. was a promising player who just didnt work out..

2 late first round picks… those are always valueable cause you can get impact players..

bag of chips… not so much

thats what everyone thought

but memphis… so looking back at the trade.. it wasnt as bad as first thought of…

At the time of the trade nobody expected much THAT is what was important when the trade was made. So at the time they traded for a bag of chips. Gasol for an expiring contract? Any other team would have had to give up more for Pau.

by NoraG1 on Dec 21, 2009 7:50 PM EST up reply actions

the gasol trade is not as lopsided as people think

yes, it looked like a steal at first because the picks had not been used and marc gasol was a nobody then. But the grizzles got 20 mil in cap space at the end of that year, and have signed some good players since the trade with those picks. and marc gasol is putting up similar numbers to his brother.
Pau – 17.1 ppg, 12.7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.5 bpg, .546 fg%
Marc – 14.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.4 bpg, .615 fg%
pretty similar numbers. and marc is only 25 and in his second year.
the grizz were clearly going nowehere with pau and needed to unload his huge contract. so they traded him and started over. they went after the largest expiring contrct, which was kwame brown. and id like to add that they got zach randolph with that cap space, who is a pretty good player. so in escence (if you look at the big picture), you trade pau gasol for marc gasol, zach randolph and several draft picks (darrell arthur and demarre carrol – still trying to prove themselves).

didn’t minnesota do this with a playe rnamed kevin garnett?

Wouldnt be shocked

It seems like a foregone conclusion, that Cleveland will end up with a player like Jamison this season, who will bail out a team that will continue to fall short of serious championship contention unless a very beneficial trade can be manufactured.

Jamison is just one of those guys. No he’s not Paul Pierce. He’s not even as good strictly in terms of talent as Vince Carter, looking back the 98 draft class. But he is such a stable offensive threat that you have to be concerned with what he can throw at your defense at all times no matter how good his teammates are.

@Matthew

It’s not cool a guy with my name is going arround saying such ignorant things.
The lakers stole…yes…stole pau! Straight theivery! Marc is a solid big but by no
means is he pau. Nor is he an allstar….(ahhem pau is an allstar…excuse me I coughed)
The draft picks the lakers gave them are going to be in the bottom 4 pics for sure.
Your not going to find alot of starters or allstars there unless your a draft wiz. That’s
a bust area. Look let’s just call it what it was. Stern wanted the lakers back in the finals,
so he approved it. It wasn’t fair. What was fair was all the times pau got jammed on in the 08 finals! I’m still smiling. Least he didn’t get fisher’d!
Now onto the cav’s. If they some how get jaimison they will go from number 3-4 in east to a solid 2 in the east and 3rd in NBA. He makes that much of a difference. Hope they can’t make it work. I pray it doesn’t happen.

so you are saying stern sets up the league?
Stern wanted the lakers back in the finals,
so he approved it

come on man… why do you call me ignorant..?

Little correction

After their loss in Dallas, the Cavs are now 20-8 (and not 20-7).

by Drucci on Dec 21, 2009 8:48 AM EST reply actions

the cavs lost to he Mavs. okkk…

No the cavs lost to the mavs without dirk nowitzki…thats absurd

by takeit on Dec 21, 2009 9:04 AM EST reply actions

Jamison's a great scorer but...

He has not impressed me defensively. Sure he will get you 20-25 pts per, but has only topped out at 9 rebounds in his career if I’m not mistaken. And he has not struck me as a defensive stopper.

And he is getting older..I don’t think he would help CLE’s chances in my opinion.
