Updates on the Injured
I'm sure many of us were somewhat hopeful that Paul Pierce might return earlier than expected - based on his history of playing through pain - but don't hold out too much hope that we'll see him on this west coast swing. Via the Globe:
Though Pierce could make the trip West on his own, it is "highly doubtful" he will do so, president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a text message Saturday.
Ainge said Pierce's return is not expected before the Celtics play host to Toronto Jan. 2.
As for Kevin Garnett, who hit his head rather hard in a nasty fall in the final minutes of Friday's win over Orlando, there haven't been any further developments on his status besides his words following the fall:
"I’m OK,’’ Garnett said after the game. "I’ve had harder falls. I’m just glad we won, to be honest. I’m sure I’ll feel it in the morning. But for now, I’m all right.’’
I'm under the assumption that no news is good news in this case. There haven't been any reports that Garnett might miss tonight's game against the Clippers - despite his fall on Friday or the thigh bruise that kept him out against the Pacers last Tuesday - so all signs point to him being in the lineup tonight. If any news breaks on this front as the day wears on, we'll let you know.

i’d say let paul rest. we’ve got bbd back. this should help out greatly. and the celtics can run the pick and roll with ra and kg
Was hoping to read a bit about Marquis Daniels too.
This team is going to be scary-good when everyone is back healthy enough to play.
It'll be nice when everyone's back
I’m all in favor of letting Paul rest…I think it’ll actually do him some good to get a few games off. His injury is a quick fix with some rest so he shouldn’t really miss a beat when he gets back.
As for Daniels, there’s nothing new to report, unfortunately. I was looking for some updates, but he seems to be on the same time table as before…Look for a late January or early-mid February return from him…Late January being the best case scenario.
Blessing in disguise...
I think this mini vacation for Pierce is well needed for his body and legs and will help make him fresher at the end of the season.
If the C’s can hold off and go 4-0 or 3-1 on this road trip and get Pierce back healthy we can look back at this injury as a plus and net gain.
Garnett head injury?
He at NO POINT hit his head on that fall. Look at it again. He knocked the wind out of himself and he should be fine. His head did not touch the ground, and if there is an injury, it is not that.
I thought that too
I thought it was his tailbone when I saw the replay, but now everyone’s saying it was his head.
Head? Head?
Only if his head was up his a$$, which we all know has never been the case with KG.
