Injury updates....

....now featuring Rajon and Glen Davis via the Globe:

Glen "Big Baby" Davis left the arena on crutches and told reporters he has a sprained right ankle. He was wearing a protective boot and said he couldn't walk without aid. He could be out for an extended period. He didn't sound positive. X-rays were negative.

Davis sprained the ankle in an ugly collision with Golden State's rugged Rony Turiaf, in which Davis was called for the offensive foul. Turiaf landed awkwardly and fell on Davis' ankle.

"I sprained the ankle before (as in last season), so hopefully I'll be back soon," he said. "I can't walk. If I can't walk, I can't run."

Rajon Rondo tweaked his left hamstring but said it won't cause him to miss any time. Rondo said he was hurting in the fourth quarter but still managed to drop 30 points with 15 assists and three steals.

It sounds like Sheldon will get a chance to shine again, and thankfully we won't have to see Tony start at the point against the Suns.

Oh yeah

TA at the 1
Eddie at the 2
BBD at the 3
Scal at the 4
Sheed at the 5

The least fit and/or lowest IQ and/or worst ball-handling lineup in NBA history. This team is so……………………… unique……… (Jk TA, you’ve been GREAT, really.)

Rondo is amazing

If he doesn’t make the all-star team then I’ll be very upset.

by TomHamilton30 on Dec 29, 2009 8:06 AM EST reply actions

a healthy squad

I watched until 9:33 seconds left.
It seemed as though they shot 5 or 6 in a row around that time.

It was an UGLY game, but I think we must remember:
A: No #34
B: No #7
C: No #11 (for the most part)

A healthy squad would be the Warriors 9 times out of 10.

maybe - but the Warriors are not a crappy team

and it is a mistake to think you can go into any team’s house with less than full strength and expect to have an easy time of it.

by mmmmm on Dec 29, 2009 1:45 PM EST up reply actions

another ugly loss.. just when you think this team has the right stuff they play 2 games like last night and sunday. we looked old, slow and completely out of sorts. once again we left the refereeing get in our heads. Once again Perk’s lack of composure cost us and once again Doc made some truly bad decisions down the stretch such as not playing wallace . My bottom line is we were tired and played like a tired team. I’m disappointed davis got hurt on a cheap play by turiaf and no there was no call. but that’s how the game went

by Red2 on Dec 29, 2009 8:20 AM EST reply actions

'slow and completely out of sorts' - Agreed.

But I don’t buy the ‘looked old’.

The three old farts (KG, Sheed and Ray) weren’t the main problem even if KG & Sheed may not have played awesome. They played very well for stretches. And Ray played very well all night. Perk – one of the youngsters – really had the pits of a game and cost us multiple times in the game. He was basically a giant gapping hole on defense and surly and out of control on offense. I expect he’ll be okay if he can keep his head on.

BBD getting hurt didn’t help things either (not his fault, of course). I hope that doesn’t turn into a long-term thing. Ankles are touchy.

not looking good for the suns game. this is not big baby’s year! :(

by cheekmeister on Dec 29, 2009 8:39 AM EST reply actions

Any word on Baby? it looks like he'll be out a while

losing the game hurt but losing Glen after he just came back really sucks. I had the same thought as Cheekmeister that this is a lost year for Baby. it’s amazing how good luck and bad luck run in stretches. I think Baby was playing ok but he didn’t have much lift and he looks like he’s gained weight. this set back will not help him

by Red2 on Dec 29, 2009 8:51 AM EST reply actions

This Hurts

BBD brings some badly needed energy to this squad and his loss will hurt. The reason these guys have dropped 2 in a row is their lack of commitment to defense which is often all about hustle. Baby at times seemed like the only one hustling last night.

by Kuberski33 on Dec 29, 2009 9:01 AM EST reply actions

On the Bright Side

If Baby is only out for a week or two, then it will give him extra time to rest his wrist so the chance of a set back from that further diminishes.

bank on a win

this will be the one game this trip they show up to play. I have no doubt we will see a very focussed Celtic team on the floor against the Suns. no doubt whatsoever.

they seem to play to the level of their opponent. no life against the dregs but play like a team on a mission against anyone good.

by slamtheking on Dec 29, 2009 11:27 AM EST reply actions

Agree that they'll probably be there mentally

The problem is that physically, they’re running out of bodies. If Rondo doesn’t play, it’s hard to see how a W happens.

by DRJ1 on Dec 29, 2009 11:33 AM EST reply actions

They're Not Running Out of Bodies

They’re running out of point guard bodies.

Repeat after me: They need a backup point guard. They need a backup point guard.

hey!!!

Name someone worth getting …..combined with someone we could actually get combined with not giving up more than we give? Someone that fits, It sounds soooo simple in theory but it’s not.

Play the cards we have and play them better. The grass may look greener on the other side because it’s often fake grass.

How about Chris Paul?

Also, they could have had Tinsley, but that’s water over the dam. So who can realistically be gotten at this point in the season?

Royal Ivey
Lindsey Hunter
Jannero Pargo
A.J. Price
Travis Diener
Roko Leni Ukic
Acie Law
Mike James
Randy Foye
Kyle Lowry
Bobby Brown
Darren Collison
Jerryd Bayless
Sergio Rodriguez

I’m sure I missed a few. You might even be able to trade BBD and expirings for Andre Miller, given Portland’s injury situation.

None of those are worth it IMO - not one...sorry Brick

I am liking TA

Because he is NOT playing the point. It is such a bad fit for him. Tony can be valuable as long as he doesn’t play the point. I sear it ruins him for games even when he stops playing it.

Can't replace the captain

I don’t want to come off at all happy or able to find greater meaning to horrible losses, but this proves a needed point in my mind.Paul our captain has done everything needed gaurding the best player on the opposite squad ,this league is dominated by small forwards today, he has fallen back and done whatever is necesary and is still alwats there in the fourth quarter for us.Now if let the media tell it KG is our MVP ,his face is the first on all advertisements for celtics for all celtics games they portray him as our best player, love KG and the mentality he has brought but we don’t win 60 games without PP for half the season not even close ,KG gets that pick and pop off the strength of our captain ,ray gets open off screens with single coverage because of PP,he is truely our captain and truely our mvp,if we don’t play defense as well without KG ,we don’t score defend rotate defend execute throughout and down the stretch nor can we put teams away without PP consistantly. Now on another note we will be foolish if we don’t get in the trade mix this season there is going to be a lot of steals and bargains that we can aquire players to truely help us now and for the future and all we have to lose is scal ,giddens, allen, walker,I hope that danny is already on the phones listening

IVERSON

They should’ve signed him.
I know, I know – NO NO NO -

But think about it – - -
If they could’ve convinced him to be a back up, banner 18 would be almost certain.

I'd rather have Rupaul

tough guy Iverson…..who didn’t need practice…..now he needs practice in just doing interviews without crying……

by Master Po on Dec 29, 2009 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

I'd Bet

Rupaul can play -

Regardless, we’ll never know about A.I.

I’m well aware what everyone here thinks – most people say NO, but I think given the opportunity, A.I. would’ve really helped.

well...

I hate to admit it, because I can’t stand Iverson, but…he more than likely would have been a real nice fit for the Cs if he were willing to come off the bench.

by invisi3ill on Dec 29, 2009 4:43 PM EST reply actions

too bad hes not coming off the bench..

the guy is all about himself.. he doesnt care about winning a championship

Bledsoe is down, we need to trade for a QB

I’m surprised at you Brickowski. You’re smarter than Hanzinho. None of those PGs may be as good as Hudson. I’m not suggesting that Lester Hudson is as good as Tom Brady, but the devil you have may be damn adequate vs the doggerel out there.

by Wildblu1 on Dec 29, 2009 5:29 PM EST reply actions

hudson

i watched one of his D league games today.. and i wasnt overly impressed with his point gaurd skills.. more of a 2 gaurd then point gaurd if you ask me

by matthewmafa on Dec 29, 2009 5:35 PM EST up reply actions

If Hudson were that good he wouldn’t be in the D-league.

by Brickowski on Dec 29, 2009 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

Not really

You are a long time critic of Doc’s and on this point – playing young guys – I would have to agree with you. In very short minutes, Hudson has shown an outside shot, lateral quickness and hustle on D and he’s bigger than Eddie. Can he distribute the ball or bring it up under pressure. I certainly am more impressed with him than I ever was with Gabe Pruitt. Doc has got to say “We’ve got to play Lester and see what he’s got”.

by Wildblu1 on Dec 30, 2009 10:50 AM EST up reply actions

i feel really sorry for t allen

i didnt know that in feb 2007 he was actually a really good player for the celtics avg 20 plus points a game before that knee injury that he came down on and that he hasnt been the same since,if only he didnt do that,he would be a really big player for us!!
