Around SBN: L'Equipe Claims He's Coming To Chelsea On Five Year Deal

J.R Giddens deserves some respect.

Okay so I know that there are a LOT of Bill Walker fans out there, he's fun to watch and no disrespect to him here but I'm a J.R Giddens fan.

The way I see it is J.R is a great perimeter defender, I've never been upset with him going for fakes or letting his man blow him by. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Now on to my next topic of praise, Giddens is a GREAT rebounder! For a 6'5 guy he can really get up there and snatch rebounds away from big guys, thanks to his athleticism. Now onto his offense, he's really quick on the first step and can get around defenders easily. I've also heard Tommy say he DRAINS 3's in warm ups before the game. I'd like to think of him as a Tony Allen if Tony were very young and had good knees, ankle, and head on his shoulders.

I'd like to see J.R get minutes over Tony just like you Billy fans would like to see Walker get minutes over Scal ( I'm with you on that one ) I just think he's great on D and at crashing the boards, he could also be a great energy guy on offense and with more development he could have a very solid offensive repertoire.

So who wants to jump on the J.R Giddens band-wagon with me?

Not me. Giddens just isn’t an NBA player. I doubt he’ll get picked up by a team next year (since the Celts already declined his option and it be shocking if DA resigned him).

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

Haha

This topic’s funny. I’ll vote for the last option.

giddens...

why did danny draft him if he is so bad?

by matthewmafa on Dec 31, 2009 1:49 AM EST reply actions

For the same reason he drafted Marcus Banks, Orien Greene, and Gabe Pruitt. It’s called, “He made a mistake”.

there was much better talent then giddens on the board,...

he was a guy who might have not even gotten drafted or probably late second round… why so early ainge

DUMP DOC RIVERS HIRE TOM T

Know one on here truly knows if JR has a NBA game or not. At best we are all guessing. That fact is sad because if Doc would give them game time we would not have this disagreement.

i agree, i wish we could see those guys play.
i did see JR warms up before the clippers game (unfortunatly i was there), and looks like he can shoot the 3’s pretty well.

You know what bugs me?

Fans whinning about lack of playing time for players who haven’t earned it. It happens every single year. If the guys aren’t playing it’s for a reason. Either they aren’t good enough or the players ahead of them work harder to understand and play defense. Plain and simple. Sure, Danny thinks they can play. He drafted them so he should. But Danny’s been wrong a lot more often than Doc.

not voting on poll

been a jr giddens fan and a bill walker fan both are great athletes i think they have a good shot at being key parts of this team im 300 percent sure jr will be more productive then scal .. if he plays that sf spot wich he should he will have a solid game my prediction 15 pts 6 reb 3 stl and a blocked shot he has a ton of energy he will hustle out there and for these ppl who say get rid of giddens or walker are crazy

Agreed

Suprisingly ( or maybe it makes sense), ever since he didn’t get renewed it seems like he’s far more focused, is playing defense with less frenetic, frantic movement and more focused and efficient effectiveness and has looked much better on offense, selecting his spots. I know he only has had spot minutes but he is a completely different player in those spot minutes from the one I used to see. Maybe he needed the scare or something.

I really like Gidden’s size speed and strength at the off gaurd position. If he pulls it all together I see him being able to have a real physical impact from that spot. I’ve always liked Giddens. Just wanted him to slow down and relax a little. He has the tools.

I’m now wondering if maybe we didn’t renew him at just the wrong time. If he continues to improve I’m hoping we can still re-sign him if his play merits we do that. And that we don’t lose him to some other team.

Giddens

…we don’t lose him to some other team for nothing…just as he’s starting to take off. Because if he can fogure tou the game mentally he has all the tools to be a good defender, rebounder, scorer and fast break threat from the two guard spot. I don’t see him ever being a great passer. Could turn into a good two guard back up in the short term, perhpas more than that in the long term.

Best of all, he has the one quality that so often is lacking. Real intensity and desire to put forth the effort every night.

The guy has a major motor.

Wishing him the best in trying to realise his potential at this level. Didn’t he have like 15 boards in one pre-season game?

giddens vs turkoglu

giddens needs to run him through the ground if its anytime to prove himself its now! if he steps up and has a solid game i dont expect anything spectacular but to be under this pressure n pull through will show doc n earn himself an actual role on this team.. we can bash doc all we want bout not giving or prospects minutes.. he goes for the vets already proved themselfs and knows what they bring to the team..example is marquise daniels eddie house role players.. we singed daniels cuz we needed a point gaurd and some legnth off the bench.. and eddie house shoots 3’s gives us that spark off the bench.. u know whut ur guna get with role players they have proved themself in the nba.. but we are realy trying to win that home court . maybe doc will decide for the younger players to get more minutes towards postseason

JR You Da Man

You guys are a Joke!

You haven’t probably seen this guy play 6 minutes of basketball and you’ve assumed he is a bust.

Well guess what……. he held Turkoglu to 12 points tonight. Remember that Rookies and second year players don’t dare shoot the ball when you play for Doc.

He is a terrific defensive player and next time watch the NBDL games to see our young players because it takes for ever to see them with Doc in charge.

by BigT1942 on Jan 2, 2010 10:27 PM EST reply actions

Giddens played 20 minutes

In addition, both TA and Scal also guarded Hedo tonight. Giddens didn’t do anything to hurt the team tonight when he played, so that was good. He won’t be on the roster next year and maybe will be gone before this year ends.

first of all, any player the celtics would have drafted with that pick would have been in the same position as JR giddens. no pick that late in the draft is a mistrake. the team is not riding on his shoulders

all hes doing is playing hard and doing whats he’s benn asked to do, play defense and reboun. we know he can score but that potential wont be realized in the celtics limited offense

we all know how Doc feels about playing rookies, so no need to have high expectations

been a JR giddens and walker fan since day one and i hope to see both as the future of our team
