I don't think it's for $200K
At least, Chris Johnson’s initial tweet said it was for 2K. And I’m not sure why Chris Johnson’s making such a huge fuss over this race when Rondo hasn’t even openly come out to the media admitting he knows anything about this.
It cracks me up, reading some of these estimates...
Rondo self-estimates at a 3.9. One guy in that article said Lebron can run a 4.1. Another said he had multiple friends in high school running in the 4.3s.
People have no conception of these numbers. The fastest NFL combine times ever are in the 4.2 range. Olympic sprinters are estimated to be in the low 4.0s. There’s no way Rondo, or anybody other than a trained sprinter, is cracking 4.0.
All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino
I’d rather Rondo continue to focus on his game instead of these gimmicks.
This idea is, to put it kindly, stupid.
I think Rondo looks pretty focused these last couple of games...
What’s surprising to me is that what Rondo says privately to his teammates gets so much national attention. Perk relaying to the media what Rondo said to him about CP3’s stats being the result of him having the ball all the time caused a firestorm. And now Maquis Daniels telling Chris Johnson about this race and Chris Johnson then posting it on twitter… poor Rondo seems to be in the media spotlight even though he has personally done everything he can to avoid the media.
This is just silly
First, I believe the original number was 2K anyway. Second, Rondo has already denied issuing this challenge and basically said Marquis made the whole thing up.
are you serious!?
rondo would get the breaks beat off him guaranteed. there are linebackers in the nfl that would beat rondo in a 40 yard dash. anyone that believes that rondo has a chance has no idea how fast a 4.2 or 4.3 in the 40 yard dash really is. just because you’re fast among your peers doesn’t mean you have world class speed like chris johnson. lol
I would prefer Rondo in a longer race.
The longest NFL play takes about 15 seconds to complete, tops (assumes a lot of scrambling by the QB) and the longest running play is going to be on the order of 12 seconds or so – i.e., run the length of the field.
NBA games often go several minutes without break, during which the PG is probably more active than anybody else on the floor. Yeah, they aren’t going balls out the whole time, but still, I think Rondo would have more of an advantage over an NFL RB in say, a 400 meter race.
But yeah, I have a hard time envisioning Rondo busting 4.3 in a 40. Who knows, though? He is damn quick at the 5 yd dash through traffic to the hoop!
