Tim Donaghy will be on 60 Minutes Sunday 12/6
...talking about his book which is going to be published after all, in the next 2-3 weeks. Should be interesting...
In my view, he lists too many details for them to all be completely made up. We who watch NBA games know that the refs are sometimes just wrong - which happens because they're human - and other times they are inexplicably, unbelievably wrong. Examples like the Kings-Lakers 2002 playoff game 6 (Bavetta involved, of course), the offensive call on Paul Pierce's 3-pointer in the 2008 Detroit playoff game (one of the worst calls ever... by Bavetta, of course Bennett Salvatore), Crawford's egregious abuse of the tech, and many, many other head-scratchers -- all lead me to believe that something must be rotten in David Stern's state.
Maybe this interview and book will finally get somebody to investigate some of his many allegations.
Just found out: Donaghy's book is already available, at Amazon.com.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Dick Bavetta did not make that call against Pierce in Game 6 in Detroit
Bennett Salvatore did.
Bavetta did not referee that game.

Growing up in the Weinman household, you learn two rules very quickly if you aspire to reach double-digits in the years-of-age category: Hate thy Knick, hate thy Yankee.

Thank you
…I made the correction (but kept the original error :)
Something about that call makes it unforgettable, even though it made no difference in the end. It was just so…. blatant… and I still remember the way PP just walked away, never even turning to look at the ref, a quizzical look on his face.
There’s one of these kinds of calls almost every game these days, you hardly need to look back a year for an example. Clearly the NBA has the worst refereeing of all the four major team sports, and obviously Donaghy wasn’t a lone cheater. What’s truly sad is the NBA’s total lack of respect for their fans in their unwillingness to do a real investigation.
They don’t need to do an investigation. They already know everything because half of the problem is them controlling the referees.
