Rondo

I think its safe to say that Rondo going to make the All-star game at point gaurd.

Star-divide

He is one of the dominate point gaurds in the East. Hes fast good in the paint and can play defense. He is leading in steals in the entire NBA. Theres no compition in the east. Rajon almost averages a double-double with 11point and 9 assist PG. I think he will definately will get in the All-star game, but don't think he will be a starter.

Tell me What do you think?

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

i agree

dwayne wade usually plays pg in allstar games so he will be the starting pg for the east most likely.
other than rondo….who is there for the all star game?
derrick rose: he might make it…but bulls are awful right now and rose’s stats arent amazing
gilbert arenas: nah. he is not the same as he was…yet
allen iverson: yeah, good one. how many games has he played?
brandon jennings: he has a chance..but ….hes a rook
devin harris: has been injured, and hasnt played as well as he did with VC last year
Jose Calderon: stats are down, record is awful

i think dwayne wade and rondo will be at the all star game.
the only player that gives rondo a run for his money is brandon jennings i think.

I can't believe

none of you mentioned Joe Johnson. The Hawks are one of the more surprising teams in the East, yet while you guys pull the ‘no respect’ card on Rondo, you guys completely overlook another under appreciated player.

This is a Celtics board.

So obviously, we’re focusing on Celtics players.

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

by RJ87 on Dec 14, 2009 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

This makes no sense.

So, you can compare Rondo to all of these other less deserving players (who aren’t Celtics yet are still being discussed here) but you can completely overlook one equally deserving player in JJ because obviously, this is a Celtics board? Take off the blinders, please.

by brianfbb on Dec 14, 2009 11:45 PM EST up reply actions

I never said JJ wasn't a great player or not deserving.

But I think you’re looking for sympathy in the wrong place, lol – esp with a list comparing PG’s.

Quite frankly, when I vote for guards – I’m voting for Rondo at the 1 because I think he’s the best PG in the east and a Celtic, and then DWade at the 2 b/c he’s the best SG in the East.

Nothing personal against JJ or the Hawks.

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

by RJ87 on Dec 15, 2009 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

I was never looking for sympathy anywhere. I just wondered out loud why Joe Johnson wasn’t even mentioned, especially when guys who are doing much worse, such as Iverson, Rose, and Calderon, are. Saying how obviously this is a Celtics board can’t possibly be a sufficient reason for overlooking an equally deserving player, can it?

by brianfbb on Dec 15, 2009 12:43 AM EST up reply actions

But if you look at the list RR9 composed

Its a list of point guards, the only reason why he mentioned DWade is cuz he normally plays PG in the allstar game. JJ is an SG, so it makes sense he wasn’t mentioned. If this was a list of all guards, I’d see the need to include him. But in this case – where we were saying Rondo is the best PG in the East and compare other PGs to him, JJ doesn’t really fit into the aspect of the conversation.

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

by RJ87 on Dec 15, 2009 1:27 AM EST up reply actions

First of all, no he hasn’t. Of the games he’s started, he’s played alongside Iverson (a PG according to you), Arenas (a PG according to you), and Kidd (a PG according to everybody). Secondly, the All Star Ballot doesn’t even make any distinction between point guards and shooting guards, so really the only distinction you have to make is whether or not a player is a GUARD. Are you really trying to justify leaving JJ off your own obvious Celtic oriented list (I still don’t know how being on a Celtics forum changes logic)? Are we really doing this? Even the other guy admitted he completely forgot about JJ, and all I wanted to do was bring his name to light.

I’m done here. I even agreed with the OP and voted him as a starter, but obviously I lack the understanding I need to discuss Rondo’s All Star credentials on a Celtics board.

by brianfbb on Dec 15, 2009 2:18 AM EST up reply actions

i agree with you

i did completely forget about joe johnson. i was also just talking about poingguards tho and there is no debate that joe johnson is a sg not a pg. hes not underappreciated at all though. he has been an allstar, and everyone knows he is the best player on the hawks

Rondo SHOULD be starting point guard

but it’s all about votes and Rondo isn’t that high profile. Brandon Jennings will probably get it, or Derrick Rose.

JACQUE'O

Anything is possoble. All we have to do is keep voting Rondo in and maybe he can be a starter in the ALLSTAR Game.

Rondos the only celtic that should potentially start on the all star team

Pierce wont start over lebron
Ray shouldnt make it
KG might get the fan vote, but Id say Chris Bosh is having the much better statistical year

by takeit on Dec 10, 2009 1:41 PM EST reply actions

WHY DO YOU SAY THAT?

If you are a REAL TRUE BOSTON FAN then you should think positive about your team.
Pierce might can start over LaBron, why shouldn’t Ray make the squad, and last, but, not least Why would you chose another, over KG come on like you said he has the fan’s vote’s. I am voting all Celtics in the East ALLSTAR game……..A REAL TRUE CELTICS FAN!!!!!!

Voting Update was just released to voters

Rondo is EIGHTH PLACE among guards in the East – behind the likes of Wade, Arenas, Rose, and ALLEN IVERSON.

A serious joke (esp since Tracy McGrady is 2nd place for guards in the West), we need to step up the voting efforts to get Rondo the all-star bid, he deserves it.

Yes it is a joke…and i will nevr quite understand the fascination with rose over rondo
Rondo is better player

All the other guys live off there names, ala Tmac…cmon basketball fans, be smarter

RONDO FOR 1st PLACE GUARD!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you 1,000,000% on that……I have been placing my vote for RAJON and RAY everyday, and will continue to do so everyday faithfully………I AM A REAL TRUE CELTICS FAN!!!!!!!

voting update

absolutely ridiculous. cant believe rondo is 8th. like RJ87 said, AI and Arenas do not deserve to be better. and tmac is a joke
im not sure how the allstar game voting goes but isnt the voting only for the starters? and then the coaches and team owners vote for the reserves? if this is true. rondo does still have a big chance to make the allstar team.

by RR9 on Dec 10, 2009 11:32 PM EST reply actions

Yea, the fans vote in the starters

the coaches in each conference vote in reserves. So i think it’s entirely possible that he’ll make the team as a reserve – even though I think he’s been one of the top PG’s in the eastern conference this season (dare I say, the best).

My biggest gripe, though, is actually that TMac may be able to start. That should be disallowed. How he is leading over Nash, Deron Williams, even Monta Ellis, is ridiculous.

Don't Trade Rondo or Perk!

by RJ87 on Dec 11, 2009 11:42 PM EST up reply actions

My guess is that because many of the votes come from international fans, they just vote for whoever they remember being good. And because they don’t show games nearly as often internationally, many of them end up just being misinformed.

rondo dunk against washington

has anyone been able to find a video of his clutch baseline dunk?

Rondo's Baseline Dunk!!!!!!!

Go to yahoo sports you might be able to still find it there….It was still there yesterday, so it might be still there today…………

No, not safe to say at all

You can say Rondo should be on the team, but I would bet against it. He def won’t get voted in, and he’s not respected (or liked) around the league like he is here. There is a definite bias towards PPG at every position. It’s likely even Van Gundy will go with best all-around offensive player rather than best pure PG.

by Cannoneo on Dec 12, 2009 8:28 PM EST reply actions

Stan van gundy isnt going to be the coach unless the magic have the best record, likely, but not guaranteed

also its plain ignorance to take a scorer at PG over a pure passer for an all star game, that leaves noone to get everyone inolved with spectacular passes and just a guy who wants to shoot..ala last year with east when they had Mo williams and devin harris…terrible

by takeit on Dec 13, 2009 1:37 AM EST up reply actions

True

Good points but I still say the coach has a hard time leaving a high-scoring point guard off the team if he’s considered a star in the media and a higher-ranked all-around player than the pure PG.

If Doc is coaching it will be interesting. He will have to face harsh criticism for going with his own guy.

by Cannoneo on Dec 13, 2009 9:15 PM EST up reply actions

I am not a Celtics fan.

but I voted for Rondo because he’s one of the best players on your team. I’m tired of hearing people refer to the “Big Three” in reference to Allen, Pierce, and KG.

by brianfbb on Dec 13, 2009 6:08 PM EST up reply actions

thank you for that!

i think its safe to say he is one of the top pg in the league…when they are all healthy
in no order at all: rondo, nash, cp3, dwill, billups
looking into the top 5: tony parker (was in top 5 but is slightly older now), younger baron davis, derrick rose, jason kidd

RONDO CHAMPIONSHIP #2 What do you think?

Rajon Rondo is to me the best of the best…..he was just drafted in 2006 and has already come this far in his career…….he was being talked about even then…….his second season he has already won a championship ring…….and I think he just might be hungry enough to win his second one…………A REAL TRUE BOSTON CELTICS FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
