More Ainge Quotes On Cassell Deal
From Steve Bulpett:
SALT LAKE CITY — The Celtics have freed up a valuable roster spot with today’s trade of Sam Cassell to Sacramento for a protected second round draft pick. But they may not use that open space until after Thursday’s trade deadline — if at all. “Our best chance to acquire someone might be after the deadline with a player who gets bought out and becomes a free agent,” GM Danny Ainge said this morning. “But right now I have no idea who what players might be available.” Ainge and the Celts continue to explore the trade market, but as of now there doesn’t seem to be much to indicate they can be a major player. The club would clearly like to get a backup center, but it is not going to simply grab any tall guy. “We’re looking. We’re always looking,” said Ainge. “But at the same time, I like our team. Even though I don’t think it’s perfect, I like it a lot. And I think Leon (Powe) and Baby (Glen Davis) are both significantly improved from last year and will be even more going into the playoffs. Our need there is not as great.”

Shopping the two backup PFs
I guess since they are so similar in roles, shopping both to see if one will bring back a good return is a good idea.
was just thinking the same...
“much improved”…
in baby's case -- maybe
but i think it’s hard to call leon much improved, much as i love the guy..
Ah, Danny boy
It makes me nervous that I disagree with you.
With Ainge?
Maybe you should realize that he knows a bit more about the issue at hand and then you can worry free like me. I think most here would want a move just for a move. Sort of like a binky.

This trade couldn't have happened without Sam's consent...
So, he must have signed off on it. I’m sure he’s already got his future plans worked out.
All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino
the kings will waive him
and then sam will rejoin the celts as an assistant coach
