Phone Booth?
The Kings just traded forward Shelden Williams and point guard Bobby Brown to the Timberwolves for guard Rashad McCants and center Calvin Booth, according to an NBA source.
The source added that if Booth is waived by Sacramento, the Celtics could be interested in signing him to fill their open roster spot. The 6-foot-11, 230-pounder played just one game for Minnesota this season, and has played sparingly as a backup center in recent seasons.
Booth, however, has size and length that the Celtics need, as well as 10 years of NBA experience.
Celtics president Danny Ainge has said that if he does make a move it will be something minor to aid his bench. A move for Booth would fit those words, but it remains to be seen if the Kings will waive him.

Ugh...
Adding Booth would be terrible, unless its in conjunction with a Nocioni deal. Booth has size, but he’s a stiff.

Say No To Calvin Booth
He’s terrible. POB is much better.

I don't know about much better...
… but POB is at least younger. Booth adds nothing.

He can’t be all that bad… guys don’t stick for 10 years that don’t have at least one “+” side to their game

That’s about it.

of course
the last I checked he was on the Wizards, so I’m a little light on the Booth scouting report ;)

He's pretty bad, Jeff...
He’s got no offensive game to speak of, he’s a mediocre defender and rebounder, and he’s played in 55+ games just once in his career, due to both injuries and just generally not being very good.

I’d rather have Jerome James.

Booth?
how would booth help? doesn’t seem to even bring what POB could bring to the table. At least POB shows some signs of offensive skills.
adding him would be a waste at this point. pick him up as insurance only if absolutely nothing else pans out.

Yes, he’s really that bad. And Jerome James is really that bad too. I mean these guys are BAD, BAD BAD. Patrick O’Bryant is an all-star compared to these guys.
Say, what’s Michael Olowokandi doing these days? Maybe Ainge ought to give him a call.

What?
He’s one of the few centers in the league who’s not notoriously better than POB.

it’s a smokescreen. my sources say we’re targeting Jerome James

That’s why we stick with Powe & BB. Nothing else is any better, size or no size. At least BB and Leon know our system

If Booth falls through...
I say Jim McIlvaine!

Mutumbo
Isn’t Calvin Booth just a poor poor poor man’s Muumbo…even today? If we didn’t want Mt. Mutumbo, why would we want the phone booth?
by wil on Feb 19, 2009 2:11 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
What makes you say we didn’t want Mutumbo? Danny reached out, he didn’t want to come to Boston, as I recall.
Booth makes us neither better nor worse, since I can’t imagine him playing a single minute of meaningful basketball for us. Maybe they’ll cut POB since they’ll already have a Token Tall Guy on the roster.
We BETTER get something more out of this than Booth!

my recollection is Mutombo was excited but the Celtics kind of dragged and Houston came back with an offer eventually.

Yeah, that's what I remember, too...
Dikembe said he was ready to sign with Boston, but that the team wouldn’t pull the trigger until later in the season.

doesn't anyone work on Thursday's.
I have to head in in a few minutes.
Maybe we can sign Cowens and KG and he can see who can pop a blood vessell first

Calvin Booth!
I hope that’s a joke.
Honestly, I’d rather stick Russ out there.
