Goodbye Will Solomon
We hardly never knew you.
The Celtics have traded Patrick O’Bryant to Toronto for Will Solomon, but they will still get the roster spot they desire. Solomon is being sent to Sacramento for a conditional second round draft pick (similar to the Sam Cassell trade). That gives the Celts two open roster spots, and they hope to fill at least one with a veteran big man over the next couple of weeks. With their available bodies at 11, J.R. Giddens is being called up from the D-League and will be with the Celts when they play the Jazz tonight.

what a busy day
for a team doing nothing
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." Michael Scott
Dang
I was just thinking he might have some defensive potential. But this probably does clear up the Sacramento / Toronto confusion.
Well… two open spots… lets home we get Joe Smith and Marbury. Is there any possibility that the Celtics made another trade?
That was a quick stop in Bean town

damn, it’s hard to keep up with all of the machinations. I went from feeling good about the roster spot to lamenting the solomon deal to now feeling good again. Thank god we didn’t keep him. So now that the dust has cleared we’ve picked up 2 2nd round picks and Smith, Marbury , Cassell and Clavin Booth are all still in play as options. I like it.
Think he could somehow put this on his resume?
“Former teams: Toronto (3 seasons), Boston (3 minutes)”
He is still an integral part of Banner #18
You can’t take that away from him!

Honestly, if we're mentioning Calvin Booth, lets just pick up the KANDI MAN!
I’m not even kidding…
So two open spots again...
Please fill those with something good DA
Cheerleaders are safe anyway
Give Walker some playng time – the guy is a sleeper. If we us one ot thoe spots for Starbury I may give Danny a Slammin Scalabrine Head Butt Concussion
Is it Soup Yet?
I don't believe any of it anymore
We’ll know once we hear it from Danny’s lips. This is just all BS. Makes no sense to me… why not just keep Solomon… it was a GOOD deal. The only answer may be that Danny knows some other PG is coming, like Marbury. Hope not.
I do believe Joe Smith is coming our way though, soon.
Crazy...
Any chance of another trade coming?
Seems to me that Sacramento and Boston have been working a lot together lately… any more surprises?
11 available bodies?
Tony Allen is injured, who is the other guy?
It will be good if J.R. gets a quick run

Just joined..
I’ve been lurking since ‘07… I would’ve joined the board years ago had I known about this awesome live-update to the comments section! That is sweetness…
Also, I’ve always been a Boston-area sports fan but I started getting Red Sox games in ‘03 and Celtics games in ’06-’07, so I would like an award for “Fan Who Joins 1 year ahead of the bandwagon and experiences quickest heartache-to-championship Turnarounds”

Daily Babble is the best!
Thank you Steve! I’ve learned a lot about the rest of the league from your posts.

Yes, welcome...
Great to have you aboard. And FYI, the live updating comments are fairly new.
I’d encourage you to join the forums, too. You can do so at http://forums.celticsblog.com

I think I need some fresh air
Lots of confusion, and (as wondahbap reminded me) the best part is that the Magic volunteered to get Rafer Alston. Cool!

This might be the big man...
“• I’m also told that Sacramento will be releasing Mikki Moore after the Kings were unable to include him in any trades before the deadline. Given the leaguewide need for big men, there figures to be a fair bit of interest in Moore once he clears waivers. Expectation is high that he will wind up in Boston, reports ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher.”
Hey, Miki Moore isn't a bad idea.
He had a few big games before right?
"The expectation"
…seems to have every available big man signing with us.
I wouldn't blame them
Who wouldn’t want in on a championship team? All you have to do is contribute and stay in place and poof!… you have a ring
Props to Danny for saving some $$
These are pro moves that keep us from cutting a guaranteed salary.
Now we have room for that Backup Center we have all been clamoring about for months.
The guy at the Herald might be out of his mind
- First, the story makes no sense. If you get Will Solomon for POB, you don’t go giving him away for nothing. (Unless of course you have some other PG in your back pocket, but I doubt that.)
- Second, he talks about the Cs being at 11 bodies, but that’s not the case. We had 15, minus POB & Sam & TA makes 12, not 11. If the guy can’t add and subtract, maybe he also got this story wrong. So far, there is ZERO corroboration of the Herald’s story anywhere else.
No they had 11 with JR down in the Dleague. Call up JR it is now 12.
As for “giving him away for nothing” the Celtics got a roster spot and don’t have to pay the luxury tax on O’Bryant. They have other people in mind for those spots.
Also regarding bodies for tonight's game, Scal's health may still be a question
Agreed with Berkcelt beyond that.
That “can’t subtract” rhetoric seems a bit unfair.

MIKKI MOORE!!!!!!!!!
will be realeased.
Pick him up, problem solved…
Interesting...
So did Danny just finagle a legitimate way to bribe a team to let their spare big who wants to be in Boston go—while saving money and trimming the roster in the process?
Moore I think
But I’m under the impression that he can score better
He was pretty good when he was with NJ though.
Scoring aside, he could defend a tree or two also. He could also block from what I remember.
sooo
If Moore is released and Smith is released who do we take? Or do we take both and in the effect who do we cut in event a guard or swingman we want comes available?

Ok, Globe just confirmed... no Solomon
Guess it’s real. The only way to understand this is to suppose that Danny has some other PG in mind… I hope it’s not Marbury, but it might just be. Thanks to berk for pointing out that we have 12 but only with JR.
I hope not either
but if not Marbury who? Marbury could still choose Miami. They might actually keep him past this year.
