The Curse of the Babble

is in full swing. Scal going down….

I wonder how to reverse this all too frequent trend SW.

This is starting to scare me :-D

I don’t wish injuries on anyone, so I feel like it would be truly unsportsmanlike to turn the Babble into CelticsBlog’s version of NBA TV’s fan night – Lakers/Cavs central!

That was good, but did you also catch it when...

after Donny defended Carmelo by saying that there were a lot worse guys in the league than him, Gorman responded by saying, “Well I’m sorry to hear that.”

Mike is the man.

Best ‘team’ game of the season. Great win on the road.

Glad You Brought This Up

This game was not physical, it was just plain dirty on the part of the Nuggets. Carter and Martin should be suspended for their fouls on Ray and Petro, as well, for his foul and extra kick on Scals. And to top it off Ray is given a tech after he was fouled by Carter. Two times last nite Ray could have been seriously injured. And, I believe that Scal’s injury is serious. Even though Scal’s said it wasn’t. It sure looked like he got another concussion and he also said he felt numbness in his legs which could indicate a spinal cord injury. The refs did nothing to stop this and this will just allow the next team we play to beat up on them some more. And to make it worse, look at all the ridiculous techs that have been called on Perk. Sorry for the RANT, but something needs to be done about the officiating. That is the cause of all this garbage.

Just bigger, faster, stronger, smarter than Denver the entire night. Sorry I’m not sorry.

I’d guess it goes to Giddens.

Nice game

All around I think this was one of their better efforts tonight. The biggest plus was the lack of turnovers. We aren’t gonna lose many games on the road when we take care of the ball like that.

Any reason why I shouldnt put a grand on the Celtics against the Clippers? Oh yea I dont have a grand

by Welch on Feb 24, 2009 12:37 AM EST reply actions

There is no way that was just a neck injury for Scal. He fell down like he was knocked out, and was clearly dazed getting up. That’s a 3rd concussion unless proven otherwise, and since it cannot be proven otherwise, Scal will probably be out for 2 more weeks. Too bad.
- Great seeing Billy out there… embarrassing first couple of plays (like passing to himself), but then more than made up for it… loved that running alleyoop.
- JR Giddens! Finally. Good job.
- Our two rookies… this could be the silver lining behind KG being out… the kids may FINALLY get their shot (Doc is soooo slow about that). I think they could really shine, if we let them get their confidence. Loved it when JR & Billy swarmed the guy with the ball… Celtics defense.
- Gabe did a good job too. All in all, really good game for the bench, and a lot of good signs for the Cs. Only negatives: Perk didn’t show up (2 pts, 5 fouls, 3 TOs), and too damn bad about Scal.

If he was concussed again...

He might be out for 6-8 weeks or longer. You don’t take chances with head injuries…the more the brain is concussed, the more likely it is to be concussed again, and the more likely long term damage can occur. It definitely looked like he lost consciousness for a bit. That’s bad news if he did…

by SalmonAndMashedPotatoes on Feb 24, 2009 1:22 AM EST up reply actions

You're right...

The MINIMUM is 2 weeks…. probably a lot longer since it’s 3 in a row. And since he was clearly dazed… they can’t not call it a concussion. Very bad news.

"Nuggets are playing Old Testament basketball... they're parting the Red Sea"

Nuggets announcer after Ray Allen walked right down the middle of the lane for a layup. I’ve never heard that one before…. was lol’ing for several minutes

by DRJ1 on Feb 24, 2009 1:08 AM EST reply actions

WOW

missed the game but saw the highlights. I found it interesting that the announcers have changed their tune from “the celtics can’t survive without KG and maybe for a short while they can stay competitive but eventually they will need him’’ to now "the C’s played great and KG’s injury may be a blessing” i just love how quick everyone was willing to write them off but now they have put up to 100+ games in a row they no longer doubt them. I realize it was against the Suns who were high flying against poor teams and the Nuggets but the Celtics will be fine if they play as a team keep KG out until he is 100% why rush it.

attention pinoy celtics fans

are u aware about this tv host of a sports talk show who is an avid fakers fan , who keeps disrespecting the celtics? last night he predicted that the celtics will lose to denver by at least 9 points!!!! campaign with your friends to complain with management to repalce this guy with somebody else or tell your friends not to watch this show. i only watch this show to get a glimpse of celtic game highlights.

Scalinator

Poor Scal we need his floor spacing and IQ on the court. Let’s hope it’s just a neck sprain although he did fall like a sack of potatoes. Get well soon.

i agree with mike g about melo- definitely not even close to the class of wade, lebron, or kobe. and a big punk-got away with the kick hanging on the rim. the nba should look at the tape and fine him. the c’s had an easy game with denver coming off a long trip and not moving their feet, preferring to slap and grab instead. i was disappointed at chauncy for his unsportsmanlike cheap fouls. can’t say enough about ray and rajon. and wake up perk.

Giddens

Instead of sending him to the D league, just give him lucky’s job.

by BOSPORTS on Feb 24, 2009 8:55 AM EST reply actions

maybe our best effort of the year. I figured we’d be gassed playing at altitiude on a back to back but we looked fresh and crisp. Other than Phil Jackoff, George Karl might be my favorite coach to beat. I can’t tell you how much I dislike that guy. How he still has a job is beyond me. To top it all off I got the Denver feed and had to listen to Scott Hastings whine and moan and groan for 48 minutes. He makes Tommy look like Mr. Impartiality. Hastings complained about every foul, every charge and even the flagrant on Martin. He then had the balls to say that Leon’s foul on Birdman at the end was flagrant. What game was he watching? All he talked about was how the Celts were getting away with physical play etc etc but every time I looked up we were getting thrown to the ground by somebody on Denver. We shot great and defended great. Oh, Hastings even bitched at the end about Doc taking the game ball. I presume it was for GIddens who scored his first nba points but Hastings was saying how DOc can’t do that and he’s insulting the Nuggetts, blah blah, blah. Probably what pissed him off the most was all the celtic fans in Denver. At least Mike Smith ( clips announcer and former celtic) likes the celtics

by Red2 on Feb 24, 2009 9:07 AM EST reply actions

Disagree

Of the 5 charging fouls in the first half by Denver, Hastings disagreed with 3 of them. He said 2 of them were legit.
He also did complain about Leon Powe deserving a flagrant b/c on the replay you could see him swing his forearm at Birdman’s head.

The Celtics did a great job of playing physical ball and never allow easy points. Denver got caught up in the refs not giving them their way and started to retaliate in horrible manner. Just a complete blow out loss.

The game was before the half.

But we split the series 1-1 and gave Boston a good beating in the first one.
