Betcha they'd be fining him instead...

…if not for Marbury. This soap opera is gonna be monumental.

eh

Seems a little lenient to me. They could have suspended him for longer especially since we have Marbury now.

What do guys usually get in terms of suspensions for DUIs? I know it’s happened before but I have no frame of reference.

Sounds reasonable...

Richardson, of the Suns, was suspended one game for his DUI arrest.

Just out of curiosity

How many people do we have on our active roster now? like 10?

Assuming Marbury suits up...

…that would be 15 minus: – TA, KG, Scal, Gabe.
- If no Marbury, just 10.
- Steph & Mikki are too new to know the sets. So only 9 guys who’ve been on the team longer than a couple of days.
- Paul has that thumb thing.
- Giddens has played only a few minutes this year, and Doc seems very unwilling to use him.

One could say that we might be down to just 7 usable guys. But hey, Paul will play, and so will Mikki, and I hope to see Marbury too. With so much adversity… look for a blowout. :)

Steph & Mikki are too new to know the sets

Marbury may be less concerned with knowing the sets than Payton was.

Payton could have cared less.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Marbury get a little bit of playing time tonight (like, 10 minutes) in part due to this. Just enough to get his feet wet again.

Sounds just about what we expected. He wasn’t going to be cut (although he’s probably next on the block), and they’ll have to think about this when making decisions in the offseason. Unless he starts hitting some shots, though, he was going to be looking for work regardless.

Laughable

The selective dicipline here is laughable. There is absolutely no way they do this if it’s a rotation player.

They should suspend Marbury for the rest of the season retroactively for his inevitable conduct that will be detrimental to the team.

You mean... apply the retroactive punishment in advance?

.. or, to be even more perfectly clear: “apply the punishment today for an event that will take place in the future, which punishment you intend to decide upon in the future, when you intend to decide to have it apply today, which is the future’s past, which would make it retroactive… in the future.” :)

Your anger is directed at the wrong place.

Gabe messed up. They decided to suspend him, and he deserved it. How do you know they wouldn’t do this if it were a rotation player? I find it laughable that you’re saying the Celtics’ behavior is laughable, when your only supporting evidence to back your claim is an assumption made by you. Get mad at Gabe. He’s the one who drank and drive. And if you look at DRJ1’s post, you’ll see that they could definitely use Pruitt right now. And I don’t know if you’ve been watching, but he has been in the rotation lately.

I’ll venture a pretty safe guess that Payton (for his entire tenure) and Pierce’s (for Rivers’ first three years) refusal to play any defense at all , Payton’s refusal to run Rivers’ offensive sets, Blount’s refusal to make an effort, and the eccentricities that Rivers threw Ricky under the bus for post-trade were way more detrimental to the team than anything Pruitt has done.

With the exception of a two minute benching for each of them in the middle of the third quarter of a meaningless mid-season game, none of the above core players lost a minute of playing time.

Don’t tell me there is no double-standard. I don’t care that they diciplined him. I just find it laughable. I think it’s more of a message to Marbury than Gabe. Marbury is too dumb and too arrogant to get any message.
