Nelson May Be Out For The Season
Obviously a huge blow for the Magic. AP reports:
All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could miss the rest of the season for the Orlando Magic because of a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
An MRI exam revealed the injury Tuesday, the team announced.
Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he'll likely miss several weeks.
Say what you want about his inclusion in the All Star game, he was a big part of the reason why that team was doing so well. We'll see if they look to make a trade for a point guard at the deadline.
Orlando does not have a third point guard behind backup Anthony Johnson. The Magic likely will have to sign another point guard, or convert shooting guards J.J. Reddick and Courtney Lee. Magic general manager Otis Smith scheduled a news conference for later Tuesday.

That’s terrible news for them. I can’t help but feel bad; as much as I want the C’s to win, I want it to be against the other teams’ best. I believe firmly that the C’s are a better team than the Magic, with or without Jameer, just like I believe they are better than the Lakers with or without Bynum, just like I believe they are better than the Cavs with or without Z and Delonte.
Wow. That's terrible!
The kid gets his first allstar nod (although I don’t think he’s an allstar) and he gets hurt and can’t attend. Who knows if he ever gets selected again. I feel bad for him and the Magic.
Probably won't be a Celtic...
… who goes to the All Star game now. Stern is the one who chooses, and we know how he feels about the Cs.
Jameer is a real solid player, fun to watch too. He’s young and getting better all the time. I’m sure he’ll get another shot at the ASG.
Well that seals it...
It’s us and Cleveland. I don’t think the Lakers have improved enough to really challenge us without Bynum and Orlando, barring a miracle trade to get a starting PG, can’t hang with AJ playing 35+ min in the playoffs.
And Stern picked a Celtic (Ray) last year as his commish choice – that’s a big part of why he probably won’t do it this year. He does tend to skew his picks toward established vets and stars though, so it could happen.

Don't bury us yet
Reports in are that Meer may opt for rehab over surgery, which could put him as little as 3-6 weeks. Hopefully this is the option they take. Fingers crossed we see the C’s in late in the playoffs with Jameer at the helm!

Hope not
I seriously hope none of our guys go to the ASG. It’s such a joke. Stay home, get well, practice up
Wow. That sucks for the Magic.
I hope Nelson can come back. I think he can rehabilitate and have surgery after the season.
Celtics fans should be very worried about Perk’s shoulder. They are very serious.

Uh oh! Is the Daily Babble becoming like SI? Let’s hope not. : 0
In all seriousness though, Nelson was having a great year and it was a joy watching his improvement, like everyone else has said here in the comments. My wishes go to out to him.
Thats a funny observation. SW, as editor, my edict is no more Celtics writings until this is sorted out. Only write about other teams.
Huge blow for the Magic. That’s a real bummer, hate to see team’s weakened like this due to injuries.
When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"
In my defense, this seems like the right time to mention that
of the very few things I got right last year, I said from day one that the Celts would be 2008 champs and never wavered in any prediction thereafter. :-D
Truth be told, I thought the same as Slick when I saw the news. Sorry, Jameer. This one’s on me.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Stephon Marbury
I wonder if Marbury would sign with Orlando if he was guaranteed lots of playing time?
Jamaal Tinsley
If this is the case I’d suggest Orlando to make room for him.
Marbury would make sense as well, chances are he will play starter minutes, and as much as I like the Celtics, having Marbury into their squad would create a tough match-up to play with(on paper).
No way GM Otis Smith would make room for Tinsley.
As the case is with Marbury, both would kill the chemistry that Orlando has been able to build up.

Marbury in Orlando/DisneyWorld
If Marbury comes to Orlando they could name a ride after him out at DisneyWorld. …….
“Overpaid Thug Starbury Mountain” It’s a spoiled bad chemistry thrill ride that ends badly for everyone every time you ride!!!!!! ……

OTSM
I think I remember that ride. I think it was why they closed down Coney Island.
…see what I did there? Marbury is from Coney Island…. I think
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me." Michael Scott
Could be Marbury
Now that they’re desperate, the Magic could pay enough for Marbury to enable the buyout with the Knicks. But is it a good idea for the Magic? Absolutely not; Marbury is a big step down from Nelson. Would it be good for the Cs? Absolutely yes, if for no other reason than it means Marbury will not be coming to Boston.
I dont see marbury being a good fit in that young lockerroom

i can't either, unless....
He has taken a page out of Ron Artest’s book and thought
‘Gee, if i’m ever gonna win a championship, i need to pull my head in, stop the crap and just play’
A long, looong shot, but stranger things have happened….

Jameer should have surgery now
He’ll never be back to normal till he does, and thus will not be able to help his team much this season anyway. If he doesn’t have the surgery soon, if he waits till after the playoffs, he might not be up to speed for the beginning of NEXT season. Do it now, Jameer… there will be lots of good years to come.
It's already official. He plans on having season-ending surgery.

Correction. He may have season-ending surgery.
The team/Nelson will evaluate the situation next week and then come to a decision.

What Happened
What ever happened to being a real man and playing through the injury, the NBA is soft. NFL players play with broken legs.
Yeah, how dare they
… take time off just because ONE shoulder doesn’t work. He’s got a backup on the other side. And besides, we’re paying good money for our popcorn, our cable, our sofas, our beers. What is this world coming to.
