Doc Fined
Celtics head coach Doc Rivers has been fined $15,000 for verbal abuse of game officials, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA executive vice president, basketball operations.
Rivers was fined for his action following the Celtics' 110-109 overtime loss to the visiting Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, Jan. 5 at TD Banknorth Garden. The fine was levied specifically because Rivers berated officials on the floor directly after the game.

I bet you loved the officiating Lakers won. Do not act like Lakers fans don’t whine. Have you forgotten the finals? I had not seen so much whining in my life then from Laker Trolls. Laker fans are very forgetful I see.

Days after the game? Try minutes after a game, the Laker fans are so obsessed with Celtics its ridiculous.

Did anything ever end up happening with the 6 Blazers on the court?
An apology from the NBA would be appropriate, and a fine for the Blazers as well as an enquiry on how this happened and how to prevent it in the future.
In Australia if a professional Rugby League team is caught with an extra player on the field they have the win stripped from them (if they won the game).
It would be good if the NBA did something similar…

No problem
I think Doc did the right thing by complaining on record. Pat Riley used to do the same thing in the 80’s when he coached the Lakers and he thought the Celtics were getting all the calls. It sends a message to his team and the officials. Personall, I thought he should have taken a technical in the 3rd quarter to make a point.

Verbal abuse?
Isn’t that stating things a bit strongly? Abuse from Doc Rivers, known throughout the league as one of the classiest guys in the league? There is no love lost between Leon Woods and Doc, going back well before the Lakers’ game. I love how everyone says that the incidental contact at the end of the game is just the way it is, let the players decide things, yet, somehow that same philosophy was not honored when KG got hacked by Gasol, then Fisher flopped when he tried to recover the ball. That couldn’t have been let go?
The whole policy of fining anyone who dares question the veracity of the officials is a joke. It puts them beyond reproach, suggesting they can do no wrong. I see no harm in a coach, esp like Doc, giving his opinion about anything that happened in a game. The entire structure of the league is not going to fall apart because someone dares question the quality of the officiating in a particular game. I realize it was not for post game comments, but supposedly what he said on the floor, but you can be sure thin-skinned Leon went right to the league to get Doc’s scalp.

Professional Through and Through
The leagues officials are a pitiful group of malcontent children. While todays crew did much better but a breakaway and an off the ball foul both called within the last 30 seconds of a game. I guess the refs needed to be on their toes to make all the correct calls since Doc called them out.
