Coin Toss - Who Will Start?

You've just gotta love Doc (from Bulpett)

The Celtic starters for tonight remain a mystery that Rivers apparently is unwilling to share. Asked who would open at point guard and power forward, the coach replied by text message, “We will have our coin toss later.”

Rivers wasn’t particularly happy with himself for starting Stephon Marbury in place of Rondo on Sunday, but now that the new guy has had a practice Monday and a walkthrough in the hotel ballroom in Miami yesterday, perhaps he will be ready to give it a go.

Leon Powe would seem the obvious choice to fill in for Davis, who was subbing for Garnett. But the C’s may opt to keep him as scoring punch for the second unit and go with Mikki Moore for openers.

It will be a fun game

Dwayne Wade on a roll, chance to watch Beasley, Perk ascending/ONeal descending makes that a good match up, and for sure we will see Walker and/or Giddens for some real minutes.
I expect more bad games from Marbury before he settles down but it could be Eddie tonight.

Start House.

Perhaps playing behind House will light a little additional fire under him to get up to speed. Even if it is for the first few minutes, I think it gives Marbury something to aim for and it reassures Eddie that his contribution is respected. Marbury must earn the starting role, not get it by default.

I would like to see Marbury get comfortable with his unit (the second unit), though that’s not really gonna happen until we get some guys back. Marbury and Powe had already seemed to be meshing pretty well, which is a start.

I’m hoping our youngest guys have learned some chemistry amongst themselves and have something to show us tonight. Let’s go Celtics!

This is a tough one.

I want to say Marbury and Powe, but Doc likes to start a PF who can stretch the floor, so it could be Marbury and Moore, but Doc won’t want to start two new players. This is really a tough one. I don’t envy Doc tonight.

I want Gabe Pruitt to start so that House+Marbury are allowed to stay on the court together, and continue to build their chemistry. Sort of like how the team uses Scal when KG is out.

I’d love to see Powe start but I’d be fine with Mikki too. So, my first choice is Pruitt and Powe.

Agree on Pruitt as starter.

Pruitt should take Rondo’s place, although not play as many minutes. You have to get Marbury comfortable in his role as the backup point, playing alongside House. Pruitt has shown he can fill in capably.

As to the bigs, just run the three man rotation with Perk, Powe, and Moore. It doesn’t really matter who starts – just base it on matchups. Miami is not that big up front so Perk and Powe could clearly start tonight.

Start House

His shooting will space the floor, with Powe and Perk not shooting threats. He’s got plenty of ball handling with both Pierce and Allen out there. And it creates a more natural rotation at Guard with Marbury. I expect Pruitt to play sparingly anyways.

I see the approach being similar in this game as against the Lerbons – where we relentlessly attack that front line, Beasly’s allergic to Defense right?

Front Court?

Am I correct in that we only have 3 front court players available tonight? Ouch.

Good call, Who, about Steff and House in the second unit. Totally agree.
