Refs angered....
Cool, I bet we get a fair shake in the playoffs this year.
The only thing I’m worried about is that payback can be a ….problem… Somewhere down the line, an official may just make a crucial bad call just to get back at Doc Rivers.
This sucks. The refs already seem to have a bad attitude toward the Cs. You can't
tell me this won’t subconsciously make the even more likely to blow the whistle against Perk for being within 3 feet of a play. And you know they’ll be looking to t up Doc every chance they get to try to prove a point. This sucks.
The NBA is like pro wrestling at this point. Dwayne Wade can carry the ball to the hoop like a football — 2, 3 steps, the refs don’t notice or care. Shaq and Dwight Howard can shoulder slam their way to the hoop, no whistle. Chris Paul can LITERALLY hold the ball in his up-turned palm for a 1 beat, but they’ll never call a carry on him. But every other time Perk makes a clean block, the whistles blow.

……or Paul Pierce traveling about every other time he has the ball in his hands and getting called for it about once every other game..Or jumping into a defender and never getting called….or the relentless flopping Paul, Powe, and the C’s do on both ends of the court. (I’m sure glad that ole’ flopping issue has been addressed….) We benefit from some of these calls and non calls through Paul also. Not to mention the silly makeup calls from the gazillion bad calls that are made on one end of the court.
The sad part is that what Cousin it is saying is absolutely right. These games are being officiated in such a bizarre manner that Donaghy….and any other NBA official can hide in plain sight and manipulate the results of games for years without anyone ever knowing the difference.
Until attendance suffers and Stern attributes it directly to officiating hurting the credibility of the game, we could put Earl Hebner in the place of Bill Kennedy and nobody would know the difference.

Goading could just be...
… looking at the coach in a stern fashion to show them that they are pushing it…
Doc shouldn’t have publicly said how stupid the ref is, though. Didn’t he learn that before when he got fined $15,000… Cmon now.
$25,000 is kinda pushing it though…
Yes
But the problem is that Tommy is right most of the time. He will admit a mistake if it’s shown on a replay and he’ll say he couldn’t see a play (probably because Doc was blocking his view). Mike Gorman might be more objective, but even he often sees it the same way as Tommy. Sooo, whatever Tommy says works for me. He’s earned that respect the “old fashioned way”.
"I don't come to play, I come to WIN"--Larry Bird
"Criminally Negligent Officiating"--Tommy Heinsohn
So it's against the rules for NBA players and coaches to speak badly about refs to the media...
…but it’s absolutely fine for the referees to defame Doc Rivers to the press?

Good stuff, mcpu40.
Good to see you around more often as of late – we’d missed ya there for a while.

Just further Proof that Stearn has No Control of his Referees
That article by the ‘ref union’ is absolute BS. They should be fined for speaking out negatively towards Doc.
Does anyone have video of this little spat?
I was at a bar when it happened, and I didn’t catch the circumstances behind the ejection. After reading the article it kind of seems like a he-said she-said type thing.
So, now the refs are coming after us in the playoffs. Is that it?
I hate this league. It’s run by criminals.
What if...
the refs are extra conscious now of not giving the bad calls to the C’s because they want to seem unbiased and giving the C’s another bogus call would look like payback?
Might be a stretch, I know.
their heads will go back in the sand
mcpu40 thanks for making my day!!
I wonder????
How much do you get fined as a coach if you say to the ref " If you made your point spread yet then layoff the whistle"
More than 25K?
Is it Soup Yet?
That might be a question to ask Jeff Van Gundy.

REFS SUCK
I have done a bit of googling around the blogosphere lately to see if we’re whiners or winners when it comes to REF SUCKS complaints. This year, more than half the blogs I scoped, including all the top contenders, had enough complaints about the refs to make them easy to find. After a while I noticed that most of the complaints were either “inconsistent from quarter to quarter and just bogus calls” or “star treatment”.
The REFS SUCK this year, and on review, i don’t remember this many ref problems last year. We shouldn’t have to prove they’re bad, Stern should have to prove they’re any good!
