You know what guys? I do not care.
It is a great feeling the day after the C's win a big one. If they go to LA and take down the Lakers by such a big margin even Jack Nicholson leaves in the third quarter its a good feeling. And while its a good feeling that night, its a better feeling the next morning. Its a lot like after you take a big test in high school or college and you just know you nailed it. That feels good, but it feels WAY better when you get that test back and there is a big fat 4-point-Zero of gratification on it.
Thats how I feel the next day after a big Celtics win. I read everything. I mean I read EVERYTHING. I will click on Ball Don't Lie's banner every 3 mins until Kelly Dwyer's fantastic "Behind the Box Score" feature comes out. I will read every single mother-luvin word with a smug sense of superiority and satisfaction reserved only for the best (or longtime die hard fans of the best).
Not this year. Something has changed. I first noticed it in November, after the blowout loss to Indiana. Then we dropped another to Denver. The nay sayers did what they do, some clamored for James Posey, some for Danny's head. Whatever. Standard over-reaction.
Then we won a whole bunch. Life was good. Quiet. It was good TV time. 19 games of wins. Just fantastic. But I didn't really care, because i knew it didn't matter. I'd read those articles the next day like I have for the past few years, and I wouldn't care. "Just the champs being champs" is what they'd say. Well, whatever. None of it matters anyways, not til the playoffs. Then the Lakers happened.
We were beaten, fair and square. I mean excuses were easy to come by, and for the most part, easily accepted. And that's how its been since. We're 27-17 since Christmas. That's a .613 winning %. If we'd played at that level the entire season, we'd still be third in the East by a considerable margin, which is where we are right now anyways. So what, right?
Well here is my point. I do not care. I don't care that we're watching Kevin Garnett's mins, and he's been out a bunch. I don't care that Tony Allen is injured, or that Brian Scalabrine might be done for the year, or that Stephon Marbury is rusty, or Mikki Moore has to embrace the system, or that Leon Powe needs to rest, I just don't care!
I also don't care that you lost. It means literally NOTHING at this point. Stop justifying it with excuses. Ya lost, we're here now, and ya lost. We can't get home court, our guys are hurt, I know, I understand, stop telling me. I don't care to hear it anymore.
Nine games left undecided before the playoffs. If we go 0-9, I would not be any more angry sad depressed or upset than I am now. If we go 9-0 I will not be any more happy, elated, excited or pumped up than I am now. We're not gonna set any records, we don't put up regular season conference banners, so let me tell you I do not care. Bring on the playoffs already, because Im sick of hearing excuses. All I've heard and read since Christmas has been excuses.
What I want to see, is this team play the best it can possibly play, when it counts, and win. It starts counting in 9 games. Until then, I don't care.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Haha...
I hear you, but I still care. Playoff seeding and home court advantage are important, and to me it’s been fairly gut-wrenching to see some of our losses this year. I think the team has played about as well as they can with the injuries, but the losses, and the drops in the standings, have still been hard to take.
All that being said, though, the most important thing is absolutely the playoffs. I think this team is capable of winning two or three series in a row on the road. I simply wish that that wasn’t necessary.

Well I mean, is there even anything they can do about it now?
Reporter: About a year ago I asked about the Celtics-Lakers thing and you said you'd really only seen it on TV. Now you've been through it, can you talk about playing the Boston Celtics for the NBA championship?
Kobe: It Sucks.

AMEN!
Man i couldn’t agree more. I live in cleveland and its so funny how many calls and text i was getting last night. These people here act like they won the finals already. I just laugh at them cause yeah we dont have home court, yeah we could end up the third seed, but who cares cause when it matters most the champs will show up. One year i think houston won they were the one seed. The next year they were the six seed and won it. So untill we are unthrowned Cavs,Lakers,Magic and whoever else fans out there please SHUT YOUR MOUTHS. Everyone always talks about Lebron "Crybaby"James and Kobe"I think im michael jordan but guess what, everytime the games on the line and it really matters" THE TRUTH THE MOST CLUTCH PLAYER IN THE GAME TODAY" PAUL PIERCE out shines them all. I will take him with the game on the line over anyone! They say we needed home court and if we didnt have it last year we woulnt have won, well i dont think we need it we didnt need against LA last year and Believe me when i tell ya cleveland ain’t all that. We been through alot of adversity this year and that just made us stronger. So get ready to put up BANNER 18 boys i just wish were the 8th seed so we could dispose of the mistake on the lake cavs early , Like SCAL said on his rap last year lebron your just holding up ther series so get out of the way,Lebron suck on your “BOBBIE” Gibson OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOuuuuuuuuuuuuTTTTTT! CELTIC PRIDE BABY there aint no other way!

this year is different
Our expectations are higher this year. It seems the entire league is hoping the C’s implode in the playoffs.
Home court has little meaning in the playoffs for most teams. Very few champions can win without ever winning a road game.
For the most part, I too wish we could just finish the regular season and start the playoffs. But there is one game that is a BIG game: April 12 at Cleveland. This game will have significant psychological impact on the playoffs. If BOS can win, Cleveland’s homecourt is meaningless. If Cleveland prevails, they will feel invincible.

Does anybody care about watching this team re-gel? I recall the joy used to get watching a very young team a few years ago learn how to play basketball. I recall watching how awesome it was earlier this season watching this team hitting all cylinders for stretches and destroy their opponent. I’m going to enjoy watching this team figure out how to make the most of Walker, and see if Doc can squeeze any value out of Mikki Mouse. I will watch to see if Starbury can be a force. And I love watching Glen Davis bloom (I’m dropping the Baby part – he’s a bigger man than me.)
This is going to be Spring Training. The games will only matter in terms of retooling and redeveloping ubuntu as Mr. Garnett works his way back into the baddest team play on the planet. I love watching a team grow into their identity. This team playing will be the most unconscious group of individuals i have seen in a very long time, and watch this ballet in rehearsals will make the playoffs so much richer. But that’s just me.

Celtics season starts on April 12...
Celts must first send a “message” to the Cavs on April 12th, then use that win as a spring-board for the playoffs.
If the breaks even out, other teams will get hit with injuries at the worst time {post season}, while Boston is finally healthy.
