Appeared to me
that defense was optional for most of the evening….for both teams.
Still, a road W is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
These 4th quarter collapses are driving me crazy!
Good to see Ray with the dagger (although I blame Steve for his FG%!) and Captain Crunch being captain of crunch time as usual.
WE WON BECAUSE....
Pierce was NOT so much gassed in the end that he was able to put up 2 clutch jumpers in the final minute….Doc should take notice that those minutes Pierce rested did him very well in crunch time…37 minutes I feel is just about right for PP and please no more of those rediculous 47 minute gameplay.
Kudos to Walker playing not too shabby in relief of Paul.
A win is a win is a win
Not much defense played by either team. C’s also coughed up the ball. Play d and take care of the ball and this is a 20 pt blowout.
If I have to hear..
V..C..3 again I will murder the sound effects guy at the Izod Center, though it was fun to go to a road game that had more celtics fans than nets fans. I will note that a fair share of C’s fans booed Marbury.
whoa, surprising
great observation:

Doc had me worried
He played Pierce the first 15 minutes of the game I want to say. But he did get Billy Walker in there, and lo and behold none of the Celtics turned to sand and slipped through the spaces of the floorboards. Doc probably could’ve played him a couple more minutes, but that’s a good start to getting Pierce’s minutes under control.
As for Walker’s play, he was pretty inconspicuous but mostly for the good. No goof ups, seemed pretty solid, had that one nice finish. I was watching him a little, and I don’t know if he was a little too geeked up or if that’s just him, but he was like this mini-Perk (more the Perk of old to be fair to Perk) just bashing into people. Not very cute about anything, lol. I thought for sure he was going to get a rookie foul. Looking forward to seeing more of Walker.
I love Perk, but he needs to soak his hand in glue so he will catch the ball. Outside of KG, the best pick & roll guy on the Cs is Leon.
Marbury and Big Baby look crappy as hell. Do we really want Big Baby out there when the game is on the line? Come on, fouling a 3 point shoot for no apparent reason?
not really…
Leon has hands of stone at time this season.
Big baby didnt have a good game, and had a dumb foul, but hes our starter without KG/Scals. so yes we want out starter out there to finish the game, he can shoot and pass the ball, unlike powe

Even though it came down to the wire its good to see them pulling out a close one on the road. Things in the last minute I liked – Perk’s defense, running and executing a play for Ray’s dagger, , Ray jumping up stopping Lopez from getting the offensive rebound and Baby hustling down the loose ball, the reaction from the bench to Ray’s 3, Rondo hanging around looking like he was gearing for one of his beastly offensive rebounds. And Pierce money as usual in the clutch getting some rest probably helped.
Did anyone else notice Rondo's lefty free throw
when play didn’t count? It looked much better than his normal free throws, and he swished it. When he actually shot the free throws after that, he made the first and missed the second with a herky-jerk motion that was conspicuously missing from his lefty free throws. I think Rondo owes us an explanation, stat.
Didn't catch the game :(
Could you (or anyone rly :D) tell me a bit more about how Rondo played? Keeping an eye on that fella’s improvements and all the stat sheet shows is 20 points (which is v.nice) and 5-5 on rebounds/assists.

Had A Good Third Quarter
The third quarter was his best, scored about 15 points. But more important he pushed the ball, set the pace and hit the 18’ open shot when he had it. For the rest of the game, especially in the 4th he didn’t push the ball and I don’t know why. No one could guard him. Could be NJ was playing a zone and clogging the basket and maybe the opportunities weren’t there. But overall he had a good game.

That was a must-win game I reckon
With Cleveland tomorrow night and Orlando on Sunday night we HAD to win this game I reckon. Plus there was the loss to Detroit (at home) last Sunday.
I was worried that we would drop this game, right up until I checked the score here on CelticsBlog this morning. Great result against a team that was playing some of their best basketball it seems.
Hopefully Stephon and/or one of the young guys (Pruitt, Walker, Giddens) can give us a boost in the next 2 games.

we shot 61% for the game, and only won by 4…yet again because of garbage turnovers, not exactly what you’re looking for, especially after 2 days of practice…but I’ll take the win for sure

Nice Play By Marbury Going Into Halftime
I think it was a set play when at the half Marbury drove to the basket and dished to House in the right corner for a three. It turned out to be a pretty important play.

Slowdown In Fourth Quarter
After the C’s built up the lead they didn’t go for the kill. It seemed like they were milking the clock with about 5 minutes to go. That would have been fine if they could have gotten stops. But no one could stop Rondo, especially in the third and he stopped pushing the pace in the 4th and just walked it up. Fortunately we executed at the end.
