Continue to Start Marbury

I am so psyched we signed Stephon. He (along with Mikki Moore) are the final two pieces to a championship team. Now that Rondo is out (which I think is a blessing in disguise) I would continue to start Marbury. He needs to adjust to the Celtics style of play and the only way for that to happen is play him more and more.

Trust me, I believe it will pay off in the long haul.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Marbury

I was doubtful about the Marbury signing. Marbury has looked much better than I expected which only proves the obvious: Danny know better than I.

I like the Mikki Moore signing.
I like guys with positive energy who really want to play for the Celtics…basketball I.Q. helps.

No way do I see Rondo’s injury as a blessing in disguise.

I do think Marbury should start, get the rust off, get used to the Celtic’s system and get used to both the bench and what is left of the starters. Marbury is an All Star off the bench and hopefully be the missing piece needed to get the Celts over the hump to HCA and #18 (HCA helpful but not necessary). Lakers losing last night doesn’t hurt either…

blessing in disguise?

i love rondo, Im not so sure it is a good thing hes out. But im a lot more comfortable with the facet that Stephon is there to step in. This time will serve as an effective introduction into celtics basketball for him. He gets use to the starters – KG which is not a biggie considering all the time they spent together in Minnesota. I hope Rondo is still the #1 when he comes back though

rondo

i’d still pick rondo over starbury. and i don’t think it was a blessing in disguise, silly. i was freaking out when i found out he was injured. rondo can do a lot better than star.

Starting Marbury is a big mistake!

I am a diehard Celtic, but live in NY.

Marbury is a good individual player, but has never fit in, because of his ego,
trust me I know.

I would not be starting Marbury with Rondo out,
Pruitt or House know the system and can run the offense,
Home Court is what Doc wants again,
that’s why he played Allen and Pierce for almost the whole game
against Miami.

And if Doc continues to do that, he will risk the season,
because if Pierce of Allen get hurt, the C’s are done.

Marbury should be learning at practice and be coming off the bench,
it will be less pressure for him, especially after the whole Knick fiasco.

Yes, Marbury can help the C’s but he doesn’t know the C’s offense
and putting him in the starting lineup, is way more responsibility then
I think he is ready for, at this point.

Marbury has to start driving more to the hoop,
and playing better defense, his man almost always gets open looks,
plus he’s allowing a lot of TO’s. Did anyone see Will Bynum, 2 steals
back to back from him.

And if Doc pushes Steph, and he doesn’t perform well,
next thing that happens is the media gets on him . . .
and that get into Marbury’s head.

Just because Marbury’s been in the league for many years,
doesn’t mean he shouldn’t earn his minutes on the floor,
even with the playoffs coming up.

Tonight against Miami this should be the starting lineup

Pruitt or House
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Leon Powe
Perkins

Off the bench
Marbury
Moore
Walker

Pruit or House?

I feel like House is a better fit for right now. I like Pruit but watchin him recently I feel like he needs some more time… not ready to be a starter.

have reasonable expectations

marbury hasn’t played in over a year – no matter how well-conditioned he was (and by all accounts, he worked out hard all year), nothing compensates for on-court play. his timing is going to be off, his legs won’t be there, and he is going to be confused because he doesn’t know the system. basically, i think he’s going to be pretty mediocre-to-bad for his first 10 games, decent the rest of the regular season, and pretty good come playoff time. but it will take ‘til the playoffs for him to really play effectively. he should start, since he’s expected to play minutes with the starters once rondo is back, anyway, but don’t expect him to play well for a while.

Agreed

Rondo returned from his injury too early. He was played well in his return, but it is obvious his ankle is still tender and vulnerable. The only way Marbury is going to grow accustomed to this team and visa versa, is more playing time. Celtics cannot win without Rondo (Marbury or not) and playing him too much right now is risky. Marbury needs more minutes to get some rhythm going.
