yea i find that extremely annoying as well.
esp when they are not in the Ql arena. u gotta show some respect when you are playing in others houses.
that being said, it doesnt have much to do w/ the game. we played poorly this afternoon. (another straight loss in a sunday afternoon).
I have never seen a professional basketball team act as childish as the cavaliers. They lack maturity to win a title…
Pathetic performance by our team but I still believe we will show our true face when the time comes!
At the other end of the floor, the Celtics sat stoically while watching the Cavs’ clown around.
“I’m always going to remember that,” Ray Allen said. “If I beat a team, as happy as I may be in victory, I’m always going to stay humble and always remember that there’s another day. We play each other too much. Those are great motivational thoughts for me.”
I hope the rest of the team has that mindset. I hope everyone uses this as fire for the playoffs. And, thinking positively, I do believe the team will.
I was thinking the same exact thing… add St Patricks day to that list (what the heck the bulls beat us wearing green?)
Anways, I might got some heat for this, but this game was BEST CASE SCENARIO, as miserable as it was, this celtics team has way too much PRIDE not to redeem themselves and win a game in cleveland after this embarrasing drubbing. if not – they dont deserve to repeat and I will be rooting for the cavs to beat the lakers (the west has regressed dramatically and there path to the finals is much easier then ours)

"my gift, my curse"
since Pierce’s tattoo is showing in this pic, I just thought Id let everyone know his gift was his curse today.

What are they doing that make Sundays so horrible?
Are they collectively staying out too late on Saturday nights?

i agree with TheAncientRivalry
maybe a butt kicking like this one will do some good.MAYBE. ( thatz a big maybe)
i do get the feeling that some players forget what kind of team we were two years ago before the big three trade.
the most likely scenario for the finals will be cavz/fakerz..at which point i will hope that the cavz beat l.a.
Bunny vs Rabbit
The only thing worse than Breen and Mark Jackson today were The Celtics
A loss like this at this time does one of two things
- it crushes your psyche for the playoffs
- it embarrasses and angers you to the point of renewed focus and strength
Is it Soup Yet?
Im hoping and expecting renewed focus and strength

What happened in the first quarter ?
I set my alarm clock to wake up at 3:30 a.m. to watch this game here in Hong Kong. I thought it was just a bad dream. The Celtics were half asleep just as I did.
.
Man, the good thing is this is just one “meaningless” game. The bad thing is the Cavs looked awfully good. The Cs must re-group.
The C’s obviously had their alarm clock set for the same time your’s was.

Meaningless game. But I watched anyway. My team was playing. It’s also enough to not renew my NBA league pass next year and not attend any NBA games.
When the most gifted player in NBA history is flagrantly given multiple steps and phony continuations right in front of an official, the greatest game ever created is essentially roller derby. It doesn’t matter if Garnett, Pippen, Artest, or Jordan in their respective primes are guarding the messiah if he is allowed to be a one-man mockery of the basic rules of basketball. Disgusting. Whether a fan of the Cavs or not, witnessing the skills of the messiah should be a historic treat. Instead, it’s an absolute mockery of the game. None of the rules apply to him. I guess the taunting rules don’t either.
All that said, when we’re not showing up, it really doesn’t matter.
Meaningless game anyway. Good move by Rivers pulling the starters earlyt.
Stern chooses the order of his own lottery. Stern gives directive as to who gets officiated which way.
9 points !!
Is it the all-time low for the Cetlics? If it is not an NBA record, it should be close to it..

No more Sunday PM game for our guys please. Not even all the coffee in Dunkin and Starbucks can keep this guys up. How many teams got to play 6 or 7 games in Sundays afternoon in front of a nation-wide audience in a season?
Who cares?
Sure they could have given a better effort, but it was a totally meaningless game. As for Lebron, the league should be ashamed of what it has become, basically allowing him to do any- and everything on the court – travel, phantom fouls when he is going to the basket, no fouls when he is playing defense. He is good, but this league now officially makes me sick.
Here's to positivity...
though I’ve got plenty of griping left about this one – good to see the flag still flying high.

Very tough game to watch
I guess it’s good that people are still confident, but I just don’t see how you can take anything positive from this loss. It was demoralizing. I don’t believe the Celtics are this bad, but I do believe the Cavs are that good. I just hope the Celtics can take out the very large (expletive) that was forcefully and repeatedly pounded into their (expletive) by the Cavs before the playoffs begin. They’ve completely owned us both times at the Q to a laughable degree.
It’s LeBron’s time. He’s getting the pieces he needs to get over the hump and win a championship. It’ll be interesting to see Kobe and LeBron go head to head during the finals. I still think the Lakers will prevail. And this wasn’t planned by Stern. The Cavs and Lakers are the two best teams in the league.
Why did Davis have the ball so often to take the shot in the first period. Pierce was off. Too frequently I saw defenders just standing around. Rondo was not aggressive.
The best part of the game was seeing the look in Pierce’s eyes on the bench. The Boston Celtic’s season is not over. The Boston Celtics have proven they have another gear during the playoffs. Do the Cavaliers have another gear? Can they get better. The Celts looked like they were watching tendencies, looking for what is possible.
I think there are going to be some long nights with tapes being watched by the deepest brain trust in basketball. James is a great talent. But one superstar cannot beat 3 superstars playing a 5 man game. The Dominique years, the early Jordan years – look back to how those teams figured out how to beat one man. The playoffs are a different season, requiring thought and planning. Basketball IQ is a collective of talent, instinct, vision and experience. The Boston Celtcis experience is a long rich history, and many of the people who experienced it are still available for their opinion.
Cavs don't have to get better
All they have to do is win their home games and the title is theirs.

Cav's
I’ve been going to Celtics games since I was 10 years old and that’s 45 years ago. I have Laker fans call me Old Man and all sorts of names and could care less. I thought LeBron was a great guy but after the display today my opinion is starting to change. Great player but if that bull keeps up he’ll make a lot of enemies as far as the fans go. All the young kids idolize the guy so I hope he doesn’t pull that again. The Celtics won the clincher by 39 last season and they weren’t even close to pulling an act like that. It’s one thing celebrating that was ridiculous. Anything can happen in sports anytime he should be smart enough to realize that. The playoffs haven’t even started.

It's not over yet
If the Magic killing the Cavs in Orlando didn’t spell the end of Cleveland, then why should the Celtics getting killed now spell the end for them? They realize now what happens when they don’t show up, and if you ask me, if they were able to beat the Cavs in Boston without KG, they’re definitely capable of better things than what happened today, without question. And you know what? KG nor Powe were playing today, and KG wasn’t even out on the bench, probably cause he’d try to check himself in. : )
Either way, they’d probably be back if the C’s were able to meet the Cavs in the ECF, and with them back, they won’t let themselves get humiliated like this again.
exactly...good post
but i guess only the cavs can respond after getting hammered…we shouldnt even show up for the playoffs

just an awful outing
not one positive from this game…..glad it is over
by celticinorlando on Apr 12, 2009 7:48 PM EDT reply actions
heh the one positive is that it's over...
but if I try hard enough, I can think of some others-
-It keeps the team grounded. They can’t expect to give less than 100% effort and win.
-Being the underdog is not a bad thing.
-Mo Williams outplayed Rondo… I expect Rajon’s vindictive side to show up during the ECFs and show the world who’s the best PG in the east.
cleveland is different team at home
and boston is going to have to figure how to stay in games in cleveland…..KG and pwe will help but the shot selection early was awful….jumpers that led to leak out for the cavs….move on to the next one….get ready for saturday

i wish the cavs would act they
have been there before…oh yeah..they haven’t….the antics and the posing and the group celebrations are just junior highish….lebron does all the self glorification and it is fun…cool….T.O. does it and he is a turd…yeah we know lebron…you are 6’9 280…you should be able to do what you want on the court….but just play the game and show it some respect….

Outcoached
Outplayed, outhustled and outcoached. Cleveland’s plan was to take Rondo out of the game and it succeeded brilliantly. Rivers had no answer.
It will be nice to see Delonte get his ring. Tooo bad it could not have happened in Boston.
Here we go again...
That’s right. If only we had a decent coach then we would have KILLED them today. Face it. We aren’t healthy, we had nothing to play for, and the players did not believe that they could win this one. THEY came out and played horribly. THEY turned the ball over and took bad shots. THEY played no defense. If there ever was an example of a team just quitting after a few minutes it was this game. The only big mistake that Doc made was not pulling the entire starting unit and sitting them down the rest of the game. It wouldn’t have been any worse. Sometimes Doc makes poor choices. All I saw was a coach whose team didn’t show up. He then did the players coach thing at the end of the first and blamed himself. What a class act. If you are going to be upset don’t point it his direction.
Well ...
… we have to admit that the Cavs have been playing the best and most consistent BBall this season. They’ve had very little downs. They seem as focused as the Celtics were last year.
But ….
things can change very easily in the playoffs. It’s a new season where all teams start from scratch _ 0-0. Last year, the Celtics were dominant on the road during the regular season but look at what happened during the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs _ they struggled on the road.
So …
let’s hope that a similar karma would befall the Cavs _ dominant at home during the regular season but not so dominant during the playoffs. Hope aside, I don’t think that the Cavs would allow this to happen though.
I dread the playoffs … banner 18 is starting to fade away from my view. But I’ll still cheer on my beloved Celtics! We’ve still got 2 months to call our team The World Champions!
will ray get suspended?
if you get suspended for throwing a punch, do you get suspended for throwing an elbow in the, um, “groin”?
ray sure talked a lot after the game, when he didn’t bring it on the court. i thought that was kinda pathetic, actually. just take your beatdown, shut up, and win in the playoffs.
doubtful...compared to the pistons of the late 80's
this was nothing

uhhhh
it’s not the late ’80s.
it’s the era of coddling.
it is too bad....
some of the stuff that happened between the Cs and pistons/lakers in the 80’s made the league what it is today…..

what disappoints me is that with the exception of beating the cavs shorthanded a month ago we’ve pretty much come up empty in every big game this year. I just don’t see how you win a championship when you can’t win the meaningful regular season games. We didn’t do one thing right today. It was very discouraging
I agree with Brickowski
the cavs cut off rondo’s penetration and when he got inside their bigs were waiting for him. against this team you need to make some jumpers and the cavs did a good job of contesting every thing. with pierce and allen starting slow and rondo being in effective we couldn’t score and despite everything that doc preaches when we can’t score this team gets frustrated and they don’t play D
we’ve been getting away with poor starts at home lately against lesser teams but on the road against a good team that was highly motivated Pierce couldn’t afford to come out loafing like he did today and try to “work” his way into the game. He needed to be ready form the get go and he and the rest of the team weren’t ready. Maybe that’s Doc’s fault and yes it’s only one game but that was painful to take today
well pierce does have 3 things james doesn't
PP does have….a ring…a finals mvp and he actually has won a game in the finals…what does LBJ have? see in cleveland they hang banners when you win a division….when you set an attendance record…in boston they hang banners when you win a championship…something cleveland doesn’t have…so will you be getting a LBJ Knick jersey in 2010 when the cavs become a D-league team?

You can rationalize this lose any way you want...
And I congratulate you all in your attempts…anything to wipe away the ugly memories of this game.
Personally, I’m not devastated by this loss. It was meaningless and everyone knows it. It had importance for Cleveland and little if no importance for the Cs.
That said, we played a TERRIBLE first quarter. The last 3 quarters where decently competitive…but there was no coming back from that 1st quater. Of course, there were the typical Lebron-calls that only Lebron gets and a ton of cheap calls on the Celtics, but none of it mattered with the egg we laid. Oh well. At least we can take motivation from this game. Doc especially needs to find out what Cleveland did to Rondo…and counteract it during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Random aside #1: Anybody else notice that when Lebron went through Rondo and Ray Allen for the And-1 that he actually came down before he shot the ball (making it a travel and nullifying the basket)? The ABC guys where too enthralled in the league-mandated Lebron slurpfest to notice…and the referees, I guess, don’t call any travels on Lebron, but I figured a few of you might have seen it.
Random aside #2: What more proof do we need that Anderson Varejao has no testicles? Ray Allen lays a nice one right where it hurts, and what do we get from the King of Flopping? A stoic non-response, that’s what. He just closed his legs around Ray’s elbow…like he didn’t want to let go.

Hey…I am a Laker fan so sue me. But one thing that seems to avoid any degree of scrutiny is KG’s injury itself. A lot of “just wait till we’re 100 percent” and “just wait until the playoffs”etc. Hmmm. Knee Injury. 32 years old. You do the math. The Celtics will not get out of the east unless KG is at least 85 percent. If you want to dispute that as deluded fans i get it, but call it what it is, delusion. The cavs with homecourt advantage will take it…i don’t care how much “grit, experience, champhionship spirit” or whatever other specious intangibles are used to try and mask the fact you are playing a younger, quicker team without your best player at 100 percent. Just like tonight, rebounding will continue to be an insurmountable issue as will the depth of the cavliers bench. I am sorry, but Glen baby and house and Allen would cut it in the playoffs.
But again, I just don’t know how you expect a very veteran player to rebound from a significant knee injury in a way that makes this a championship team. sorry.

well boston heard everything
you just said laker fan last year before the finals….only 1 person (tim legler) picked them to win it…EVERYONE else said lakers in 5 or 6…..i seem to think eddie house will cut it in the playoffs…he lit the lakers up like the 4th of july in that big comeback in game 4….baby will be a bench guy that has improved big time….you are right about KG…he plays at a high level boston wins the east….he is gimpy…it will be tough….
before annointing the cavs…..they can be beaten…laker fans want the cavs in the finals…IMO boston is the only team that can beat LA in seven game series…laker fans know this
by celticinorlando on Apr 13, 2009 8:57 AM EDT reply actions
agreed
a healthy Boston team would be a much better 7 game series for the Lakers than the Cavaliers and one this Laker fan would welcome. With Bynum back and already bagging serious points and boards in 3 games, and Ariza and Odom playing well, it goes without saying this is a VERY different Laker team. I know it is fun that Laker rhymes with Faker and all that, but as someone who also just appreciates basketball, this is a different team. The rebounding and the defense being the biggest upgrade factor. Defense much bettter, rebounding, excellent. the boston match up on the boards WITH a healthy Garnett is tough.
anyway, i hope Boston prevails.
