Totally Absurd - Disgusting
I hope all you people in here who thought his actions were so abhorrent, so classless are happy. Political Correctness will kill the world and the NBA.
Viva Clothesline Rambis!!!! Viva Chief Girly punching Lambeer! Let them play!!!

I think there's a middle ground somewhere between too much political correctness and men elbowing other men below the belt
Good for the NBA on the ruling, and good that it couldn’t come at a less damaging time for us.

what middle ground did we find here?
Are you suggesting he should have been suspended more games and this is in fact a compromise?
I guess we agree to disagree which is OK. I just see no reason to suspend either one. What they did not warrant a suspension – just a technical foul and move on.

'middle ground'
would have been if Ray had found a way to respond to whatever Varejao did to him without elbowing the guy in the groin – and then both had received technicals.
In this instance, Ray went to an extreme and suffered a penalty accordingly. Fair all around in my book.

Need 8 Guys To Suit Up
If not it’s a forfeit. Doc finally will get his chance to play.

Remarks
1. As said above Ray gets his day off and TA will probably get much of his minutes which is good.
2. Varejeo’s throwing Ray down by holding his arm and jerking him down was much more of an infraction than what Ray did. What Ray did seemed accidental to me as he was getting up and there wasn’t much force in his action. There was alot of force in Varejeo’s holding Ray’s arm and putting alot of pressure on it. Verejeo should also have been suspended. His play was more dirty than Ray’s

I love Ray but he was in the wrong this time.

Ray Allen elbowed Varejao in the nuts (or whatever Varejao has…based on his limited reaction it’s up in the air). Whether you think he meant it or not, really doesn’t matter. You cannot do that, and I think the NBA did the right thing here.

How dare you!
Nobody disagrees with me…I’m right 100% of the time…or at least that’s what I tell myself…

Varejao Started This
Varejao pulled Ray hard to the floor. He could have injured Ray’s shoulder or elbow or twisted a muscle etc. Varejao didn’t react very much so Ray couldn’t have hit him that hard. (My first impression was that Ray’s hit was accidental, but I saw it again on replay and it looked on purpose). Regardless, he didn’t hit him hard, there was no potential for injury. Scals was hit much harder when he received his last concussion. Varejao did not even get a concussion. The refs did not call a blatant foul and did not eject Ray. Ray did not deserve to be suspended, Varejao did. By the way, thanks for the spelling on the Cav guy. Non of this matters. It’s the principle of the thing. If you are going to suspend Ray you need to suspend Varejao. You also need to suspend the guy that hit Scals the last time and you probably should suspend Nowitzki for elbowing Scals and starting his concussion cascade. There is no consistency in what Stu Jackson does.

It's not about intent or who started it though....
Trust me, I understand what you are saying. Varejao did start it, absolutely. However, since we are about 6 years old, there are certain things that we are taught you do not do on the basketball floor or in any sport (even boxing!). One of those happens to be a cheap shot at someones groin. It does not matter if he meant it, that’s a man’s family jewels. You can cause serious injury when you do that, not to mention how painful it is! The real debate however is if Varejao does not have anything between his legs, should it still be a suspension?
I can see the David Stern and Stu Jackson reviewing the footage in their office now….Stern turns to Jackson “so uhm does he have any junk or not?” Stu responds dumbfounded “seems inconclusive to me, let’s suspend Allen anyway because it feels good!” Because the truth is, if he has nothing there, it’s just another elbow.

WOW!! -- from the ESPN report
The frizzy-haired Varejao had his own take.
“You don’t hit a man in his [groin],” he said. “He doesn’t like Brazilians or he doesn’t like my hair.”
We will have forgotten about this by next week
This suspension means as much to us as the elbow did to Varejao.

$167,000 is what it cost ray
Players don’t like getting suspended for that reason alone. He would have preferred just to sit one out. Now, the NBA charity fund just got a big chunk of change.
It's What Ray Gets Paid Per Game
I think.

Meh who cares? I know I don’t. The only thing I care about is whether Ray’s absence from the floor will spare me Reggie’s speech about the three point record.
as penance, and in the spirit of compromise i vote we should have to hire the Brazilian female beach volleyball team
to cheer for the celtics when they met the cavs in the playoffs. I will certainly be happier watching those games
ray got thrown down
he showed a glimmer of a fighting spirit that could have done the rest of the celtics good if they had a dose of it -!!
i just wish he would have landed it with a little more force!!
Ray deserved to be suspended
The fact that sideshow bob is a dirty, flopping, annoying tool who needs a haircut doesn’t change the fact that Ray made a dirty play. And it was blatant too. Of course he is going to get suspended.
If he’d done this to DWest or Gibson or Mo Williams, I’d be more annoyed though. Sideshow Bob deserves to be elbowed where a normal man’s baby-rocks would be.
Forget Quit Snitchin’, how about Stop Floppin’.
Big brother no longer needs to watch, because the world is convinced he is.
Will be remembered
What ever the “correct” call should’ve been and whether or not Ray was in the wrong….he’s not gonna forget that throw to the ground in the PLAYOFFS!!
