I'm looking for a showdown with the Cavs

I think we can handle the Bulls and the Magic will be tough but I think we can get past them too

the Cavs will be another matter – it would take a lot for us to get past them at this point and I’m guessing that we would come up just short

hope I’m wrong though, it would be a heck of a ride and a great story if we still pulled this off

I would never root for that

not to get holier than thou, but lets not root for players to get hurt, that ain’t right

this is pretty disappointing…If this is true and KG is going to miss the entire playoffs we’re in alot of trouble.

ECF

I think they’ll make the Eastern Conference Finals and then lose to the Cavs. I’ve been thinking this since all the injuries started piling up. It just doesn’t seem like the Celtics’ year.

The only difference now (without KG) is that the Cavs will probably beat them in 5 or 6 games instead of a double overtime game 7.

by papa shuttlesworth on Apr 16, 2009 2:22 PM EDT reply actions

I just bet 2 guys at work that the C's would make it to the ECF. Thing is, I would have

bet on them to win it all, but they proposed the ECF bet. I still think this team has the personnel, discipline, leadership and resolve to do it, as long as everyone else remains healthy. I still like the Celtics chances.

by Cousin It on Apr 16, 2009 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

I say lose in the Eastern conference finals, and if they took it 6 games, that would be a success as far as im concerned, Id also rather lose then, then in the finals to the lakers

who voted lose in the first round…bulls fans..maybe? i dont know, but if this team right now isnt good enough to get past the bulls, then they werent good enough to get past the 2nd round with KG healthy

by TheAncientRivalry on Apr 16, 2009 2:29 PM EDT reply actions

Can Celts still win?

Sure, provided they shoot over 60% from the field in16 upcoming playoff games!
Either that or James & bryant suffer season ending injuries to offset KG`s.

Nobody likes to be lied to, and that`s what annoys me almost as much as KG`s injury itself. Doc and management strung us along, having us believe KG would be back.

When we saw KG limp off in Utah, we all knew it looked real bad. We should have been told the truth immediately. To be misled for 2 months is disgusting!

Even today, Doc said he hadn`t seen KG run until this morning.
He`s STILL lying!!!!

by Title 18 on Apr 16, 2009 2:31 PM EDT reply actions

ugh

everybody give up this “we were lied to” chant.

 a) kg’s injury is the type that you need to wait and see what happens. it is a constant rediagnosis of time frame, etc. so the team themselves didn’t know.

b) it is the franchise’s job to do what is best for the franchise. yes it matters how they treat the fans but it wasn’t a case here of conspiring to screw over the fans. they do what they think best to win games. period.

related to b) you never heard fans complaining about being lied to when red would purposely slag off the players he wanted to draft and praise those he had no plan on drafting. guess what, you were lied to then in the name of winning games. gonna be disgusted about that as well?

Only one question remains

Will LA sweep Cleveland, 4-0?
Will LA have to settle for 4-1?

LA hammered them twice this year, including in Cleveland without Bynum.

There are no words to describe anyone stupid enough to think the Cavs have a shot against LA!

by Title 18 on Apr 16, 2009 2:45 PM EDT reply actions

cavs are underdogs

but in one game, they were missing their center and 2-guard (and la had bynum).

in the other game, they were missing every 2-guard on their roster.

if the cavs get that far, it won’t be a sweep with the first 2 games at home.

by csung on Apr 16, 2009 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

The Cavs swept the Spurs in the regular season 2 years ago….didn’t seem to matter in the Finals.

beat the bulls in 5

magic in 6 and lose to the cavs in 6

by celticinorlando on Apr 16, 2009 2:52 PM EDT reply actions

I think the C’s will beat Chicago, but fall to the Magic in six or seven games.

A valiant second round effort, but resulting in a loss.

Can we have an option for don’t care as long as everyone else stays healthy? After that distressing injury phase I just want to watch them play without anyone getting hurt. The winning is just a very nice bonus.

Oddly enough in 2009

LeBron James’ car got a flat tire before games 1 and 2 when he was supposed to play the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

And somehow, for games 3 and 4 the team bus got lost on the way to the Garden. Only thanks to Delonte West did the team manage to reach the games, but only by halftime.

There was no game 5.

Good News

They’ve been playing w/o KG essentially since the All Star break. AND have been playing w/o Leon, TA and Scal. AND have been winning. Now, they have TA and Leon back, maybe Scal later and have seen an improving Marbury on the court teamed with Eddie in the back court..
You brush your pants off and get back in the ring. Step up now and take it one game at a time.
Things happen.
How would blog members feel if the C’s made it to the ECF against Cleveland and Lebron rolled his ankle in game 1?
’nuf said.

Remember the words of Herm Edwards………“You play to win the game”.

One at a time fellas. One at a time.

Although I'm counting upon heroic efforts...

Point for point I’m in agreement with Jeff Clarks assesment:

" I’m looking for a showdown with the Cavs

I think we can handle the Bulls and the Magic will be tough but I think we can get past them too

the Cavs will be another matter – it would take a lot for us to get past them at this point and I’m guessing that we would come up just short

hope I’m wrong though, it would be a heck of a ride and a great story if we still pulled this off. "

However, Never discount the heart of Champions !

Between: House, Powe, BBD, and Stephon rising to the occasion, I Still remain quite hopefull of a suprising outcome ;)

Indefatigable on Defence defines these Celtics~

by fan33 on Apr 16, 2009 3:40 PM EDT reply actions

Stephon isn’t going to rise to the occasion. Rondo is the one who must rise to the occasion, and he has to do it for 40 minutes every night.

by Brickowski on Apr 16, 2009 4:07 PM EDT reply actions

Everyone Really Has To Rise To The Occasion

But this is basically what’s been happening since KG went down. I agree that Rondo will need to be very consistent, but not try to do too much. As to Stephon, if he does as he has been doing that’s fine with me. As to stepping up we need to be concerned about anyone trying to do more than he’s capable of. We just need to play our game. If we do need one guy to sort of take over when needed, Pierce is really the only guy on the team capable of doing that.

I don't think we have the horses to beat Orlando

Let alone to beat Orlando, Cleveland and LAL in consecutive series. Everything is possible though.

by cordobes on Apr 16, 2009 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

Is Powe going to start? He was scoring like a maniac before he went down. I can’t wait to see Powe and Davis mixing it up under the boards.

One game at a time. One game at a time. There are a minimum of 8 games to play for this team to gel its team defense. Run everyone into Perkins and watch them bounce off and fall.

Maybe I’m crazy, but, with all these young guys out there, doesn’t it make this team quicker?

Chicago – you now have to deal with a wounded junkyard dog.

by johnnymost on Apr 16, 2009 4:29 PM EDT reply actions

Mr Bob Ryan is just laying on the reverse jinx...

…and you people oughta know it when ya see it… he’ll say “no way” until the first spectacular example of Celtic title possibilities, whether it be against orlando or more probably Cleveland. he’ll “allow” for the possibility. When we beat the Cavs, he’s gonna say, “smells like another celtic Pride miracle”. bet on it…
