Scal Will Wear Protective Headband
"Scalabrine wore a headband during practice - which drew plenty of comparisons to the Jackie Moon character in "Semi-Pro" - and said there is a slight protective band inside of the band to help protect him in case he gets hit again." - Scott Souza

Of all the stupid things they've done
…regarding injuries this year, bringing Scal back after 3 concussions is the stupidest. I hope they have lots of insurance… medical, liability, malpractice, etc. Hope he doesn’t get hit.
Don't act like Scal doesn't have some say in this, too.
Even if cleared, he is still his own man and can make his own decisions. Its not like he is being run out there against his will.
Yes, he's his own man, but...
Doc at least has put pressure on him in the media, and even well-intended Perk has likewise said publicly that he needs to get back out. I’d give the man a good six months off and wouldn’t blame him if he retired.
No, actually
1) People trust their doctors. If the team docs clear him, and he feels ok, he’s not even qualified to say no, plus why should he if he doesn’t recognize the danger. That’s the doctors’ responsibility.
2) If he’s cleared to play by the team’s docs, he is contractually required to play if asked.
This is a big mistake.
Someone enlighten me...
How protective can a headband be? Is it like a thicker material that prevents people from hitting the head directly? Because those things generally seem pretty flimsy to me?
It's one of those children use
like this one, for example: http://www.forcefieldsales.net/Test_Data.php
Great psychological effect.
I read what it said about Pierce
It was concerning me how he hasn’t been clutch like he has been. Still, he seems to know he will be getting it going soon. So I have no worries about him being able to take over a game if he wants to.
Now Scal is gonna need to be careful even if he has a protective headband. Should try not put his head down or take hard hits that would be very bad for him. Still he will play aggressive and nonetheless be competitive as we all know he will be.
Pierce And Scals
1. I didn’t read the article so I don’t know what it said about PP. But I was watching Celtics Now a little while ago and saw a play in Game 1 where Pierce took a short pass from Rondo under the basket and scored. The play looked a bit awkward and after Pierce scored he didn’t seem to be moving right as he went to the other end of the court.
2. I really don’t like the idea of Scal’s playing. I don’t see what the headband will do. It wouldn’t protect him against the elbow he took from Nowitzki and not against the hit that gave him the last concussion. In the last injury he was hit hard from behind (not in the head) as he was going in for a layup. He was hit so hard that his neck seemed to snap back.

Could it be that ...
… Pierce is a tad gun-shy because he blames himself on loss #1 due to the missed FT?

Not "gun-shy"
He and Doc both spoke separately after the last game and both had the same conclusions. PP is tentative because he’s trying to figure out the way the Bulls are defending him. He’s constantly double teamed and overplayed. If he is guarded one on one he’s been holding the ball and waiting for a 2nd defender to come before he reacts. Both he and Doc know this. PP is also trying to do his thing within the total team concept.
I don’t remember how much he scored in the first game, but he had 18 last game which is about his average. Don’t forget he’s not playing the same way he did years ago. And in the 2nd half of the last game PP was basically a decoy and instrumental in getting Ray involved knowing that Ray could get hot if he got the ball in rhythm (which he wasn’t in the first 6 quarters of the series). I also have a hunch that he’s hurt. In game one he moved awkwardly after a layup and he’s not getting much jump. He’s having shots blocked that usually aren’t blocked.
