Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

Now What?

After 4 games I have a lot more respect for the Bulls and a few more questions about our team but at the end of the day we're tied 2-2 and still have home court advantage.  Predictions are welcome.  How will the next 2 to 3 games play out?

I’m going to stick to my original prediction of Celtics in 6

Great game

but winners don’t lose like the Bulls lost in game 3. I’m not worried about this loss (maybe Pierce’s fatigue). Could have put the game away numerous times, but didn’t. Frustrating. The game will be easier to watch on ESPN Classic if we win the series, which I believe we will.

But wow are the Bulls putting up quite a fight. Personally, I think it’s a similar case to how the Giants season went when they beat the Patriots in the Superbowl. The Giants had a mediocre regular season but just got hot at the right time and this is the result. The Bulls weren’t missing any shots in crunch time. Playing over their heads or just coming into their own? I don’t know. Only next season will tell.

Is Ben Gordon really this good? I’m not trying to belittle him, I just don’t pay attention to the Bulls. He’s Kobe-like with the shots he makes. If I were a Bulls fan I’d be wondering where these performances are all year.

by BOSPORTS on Apr 27, 2009 12:45 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, he is.

Right now he’s actually getting screens that work some of the time, and he makes the clutch happen.
Without BG we’re like a 30-50 team this year.

"Ben Gordon is a bundle of muscle and clutch. That's all he's made of. Drink BG7 energy drink, you'll grow a pair of balls on your balls."

i think if they win game five they win the series in 6…lose game 5 i think the bulls win in 6

Leaning that way myself, although I’m concerned about fatigue Tuesday. I don’t find a whole lot to be alarmed about from Sunday that cannot be fixed fairly easily.

Celtics in 6, that is.

by CoachBo on Apr 26, 2009 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

should be celtics sweep if it wasnt for pierce missing big freethrows and poor officiating (Pierce foul call on the inbound steal from Salmon!) celtics in 6

by CeltsGreen9 on Apr 26, 2009 9:46 PM EDT reply actions

o yeah, rondo is the greatest PG in the league, if the celtics play like they dd in game 3 they will win, game 4 they werent as quick on there defensive rotations and chicago some how keeps hitting very difficult shots to stay in…and it didnt help that pekins was fouled out in the 2 OT’s…and i also say F*** Cleveland and Lebron i still thinks C’s have a chance to take the ship this year if we stay on our A game…just believe all you half and half celtic fans

Celtic fans complaining about the refs is so funny

look at the video above. It’s LeBron posterizing Garnett in last years playoffs. Garnett shoves James with two arms while James is in the air. No call.

2/3rds of the refs in the NBA let the celtics get away with murder in the paint, and when the 1/3rd of the refs who don’t call their games, they struggle

by BingoSmith on Apr 26, 2009 9:57 PM EDT up reply actions

every team gets away with stuff, but the celtics in the playloffs always get f*cked over by the refs..look at the charge taken by Scal on rose, pierce gets raped everytime he drives to the whole…ray allengetting pulled down by by kirk, perk fouling out because of gordon tripping over his..on thing im gonna love though is when the celtics games arent close they blow people out..boston will be electric at the Garden in game 6, you seen what happen to Atlanta last year in game 7..and i was there..hi hater!

Homers can't see the truth (game 2 finals last year)

Yeah, Celtics never benefit from officiating, except when they get 28 more fts than their opponent…

That being said, the officiating stunk, both ways!

One play proves just exactly what?

I’m waiting for the next drive when LBJ actually puts the basketball down rather than just run to the hole.

Your point was what again?

by CoachBo on Apr 26, 2009 10:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m glad you’re on our side Bingo, but look up! We’re still defending NBA Champs, and still largely the same team that rolled over the rest of the league last season, Cavaliers included.

And anyway don’t worry about “Crab Dribble” James, remember his improbable run of five games without a single foul call? Hand holding will continue throughout the playoffs.

by The Walker Wiggle on Apr 26, 2009 11:13 PM EDT up reply actions

The officiating is just horrible

I don’t think you can call it biased.

by Prevenge on Apr 27, 2009 1:09 AM EDT up reply actions

[there've been calls against the Bulls too, is what I was trying to say]

Pierce hasn’t really looked himself all series. It’s a bit odd. Maybe Salmons, injured groin and all, is just awesome? Who knows. They do play really similar styles.

by Prevenge on Apr 27, 2009 1:09 AM EDT up reply actions

The problem with the officiating is that the league has made the rulebook a breathing document based on who’s in the play. I don’t know that they could pay me enough to be an official.

-The messiah can’t travel, can’t foul, gets continuation three steps (without a dribble, of course) after he’s fouled, and can argue calls relentlessly.
- Paul Pierce, Wade, Nash, Iverson, Anthony, Carter, O’Grady, and Bryant can get 2-3 steps without traveling and can draw obvious bogus fouls.
- Anybody can flop and get an offensive foul called…..Unless, of course, it’s the messiah or any of the above doing the charging.

For all of the rest of you NBA peasants, the rulebook applies….Unless, of course, you are guarding one of the above.

How the hell can anybody officiate a game based on different rules for different players?

by Finkelskyhook on Apr 27, 2009 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions

This is true as well.

Traveling isn’t actually traveling!
Superstars don’t ever foul!
Weeeeeee!

Now what?

Find out what’s wrong with Paul Pierce !!

Is it Soup Yet?

by Master Po on Apr 26, 2009 9:55 PM EDT reply actions

The Cs HAVE to take this in 6

Entirely possible that game 7 is a weekend afternoon game. At that point, who knows?

by illantari on Apr 26, 2009 10:08 PM EDT reply actions

This series in 6 by the reigning champs!

However, I’m now more seriously concerned with getting through the ECF, with Paulie playing so inconsistantly and the team being able to pick up that scoring slack…

We all know playing D the right way takes its toll, and I think we’re showing that wear and tear, in Paul particularly now…

Yet I still Believe anything IS possible !

Indefatigable on Defence defines these Celtics~

Hey guys

If you want a laugh a good buddy of mine finally said the reason why he hates the Celtics with a passion is because we’ve always been “dirty” through bball history and we get away with alot of no calls. Here is the irony, he’s a Knicks fan…LOL

by Scalablob990 on Apr 27, 2009 12:19 AM EDT reply actions

I voted Bulls in 6

just because I’m going to be in the UC wearing red on Thursday.
Hope springs eternal, you know. :P

Also: damn.

I don’t get to see a possible clinching game. Bah, this sucks.
Oh well … if it isn’t like Game 3, it’ll be entertaining. If it’s like bizarro-Game-3, it’ll be even more entertaining [and then set up the game 3 redux in boston, ugh overconfidence].

I'm sorry, I don't buy the Bulls being legit yet

The Celtics gave this game away in the 4th quarter + overtime periods. It was sickening to watch, and I have no other way of saying I almost threw up cause I wasn’t even close, but this game was painful to watch. Please shotgun me.

Well, we tried to give it back!
