"They’re not that much different...KG, he’s just a double-double guy, and I think Big Baby and Perkins are filling up that void of him not being in there, I think they’re doing an excellent job."
While it's great to see respect for BBD and Perk, if KG is "just a double-double guy" in Mike Woodson's eyes, he really doesn't get it.

Comes right in line with the idiotic comments about Ray Allen on ESPN which I mentioned in the forum: “Some people are just born shooters, like Ray Allen. Kobe Bryant, on the other hand, has worked very hard to develop this type of shot”.
I guess someone should tell Ray to discontinue the three-hour-a-day shooting routine, because he’s wasting his time…

I heard that and immediately images of Ray 3 hrs before the game flashed in my mind. But what do you expect Mark Jackson? Me, not a lot…
As for Woodson, he has a point if you just look at the past two games of Celtics vs. Hawks

KG is not just a double double guy though. I don’t care how many times C’s beat Atlanta without him.

Very true. It’s kind of funny tho, imo, if he actually has come to that conclusion based on his own games with the Cs (not lol funny but amusing).

If he seriously believes that KG is nothing more then a double double guy then he should resign as head coach and let somone with higher basketball IQ take over…

A lot of Hawk fans would agree with you NoraG1.

I dont understand the insult or problem with being called a “double double” guy…he hasnt even averaged one this season, so its actually a comment if you ask me

Oh and Im sure Mike woodson realizes what KG brings defensively, as I do but still, calling him a double double guy isnt an insult..and the celtics defense has been better against the hawks without KG this season, for whatever reason

THE Press Conference
If you remember back to the press conference with Paul, KG and Ray all the press was talking about was we were getting a 20-20 guy. Then Doc said: “You guys don’t get it. We just became a GREAT defensive team”. The Celtics are a very good defensive team without KG. With KG they are a GREAT defensive team, especially if he’s 100. Less than100 we might be a smidgen less than GREAT.

Well, we have played the Hawks better without KG this season…
It took a last second paul pierce jumper to beat a josh smithless hawks team early in the season when completly healthy, and then we barely beat em by 3, again completly healthy…and then without KG, Leonetc, we’ve handled Atlanta pretty easily and glen davis has been matchup problem for them

On the other hand...
he’s giving the team a huge compliment, albeit poorly worded. And isn’t it what we hope for — that the team can rise to the occasion and play (nearly) as well without KG as with? And hopefully better than with a 70% KG?
I agree with him… they are doing an excellent job, and getting better with every game now, looking like they’re gonna peak for the playoffs. Even on D, KG’s forte. And Baby’s doing his best KG imitation… the kid’s seriously impressive. It’s getting to the point where we’re probably better off with a 100% Baby than a 70% KG.
i think we can get this thing done after all. With Baby, and Powe, and Steph, and Mikki, and all the other strange characters that populate this team. And that would be just… amazing.

"Filling The Void"
I don’t know if they’re filling the void. Perk is really playing the same, but without KG people are noticing him more and seeing what a terrific defender he is. Big Beast has really improved with the playing time. And Mikki Moore gets better as he understands our system better. But KG still brings us to another dimension. KG is such a great help defender. He moves around the court like a cat helping out others and getting back to his own man. On offense he’s understanding what’s happening and moves all over the place setting picks or whatever. No one in the league really has that ability. I think it’s great what all the guys are doing, but we are a much much better team with KG.

His comments are ...
… really a testament on the way Big Baby and Perk have improved their games from last year!

he really doesn't get it!
This guy is a head coach? He is completely lost!
Wonder who he would rather have Zach Randolph or Kevin Garnett?
