Perk Refuses To Be Diagnosed
Can't say I'm surprised. Just hope he's alright and not doing anything to create long term issues.
Celtics center Kendrick Perkins sustained a left shoulder strain in the final quarter, but said he plans to play in Game 5 tomorrow, to the point where he will refuse to have the injury diagnosed by a magnetic resonance imaging exam.
"It didn't pop out, it's something like a muscle strain," Perkins said of his shoulder. "It's the playoffs and the tissues don't have time to heal, so it's weak back there. It'll take two months and I'll be all right. I'm not taking the MRI. If I take the MRI and they find something, I may be out."

What Else Would We Expect From A Celtic
Got to love Perk.

Where Toughness Happens
All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino
Mind over body Perk
He has been huge so far. I agree that he’s arguably the only guy who has brought it every game this series. Would be devastating if he were out.
Way to go Perk
I love it. No one thinks they can win and this guy won’t get an MRI.
'We circle all the games' - KG
Perk is the man...
but this shoulder is already a long term problem. the celtics need to bring in a serviceable back up (i.e. not Moore) this offseason.
From my untrained eye
I don’t think the it came out of socket. So it’s probably sore but, it’s not a team killing injury.

Perk
Have been lukewarm on Perk up till this year. He’s come an awfully long way from a couple of years ago when he had zero offensive moves and was a fouling machine defensively. As recently as last year I thought KG made him a much better player than he actually was.
What I’m watching now is a good NBA starting center with a championship heart and a nasty disposition on the court which you just have to love.
This the the type of guy you win championships with and I hope he stays here for a long, long time.
Couldn't have said it better myself
I love the big guys, and Perkins right now is has good as they come, without a doubt.
Shoulder looked Fine to me....LOL
Look at replays of Celtics bench after Big Babys last second shot. There was Perk with both arms straight up celebrating. If left shouldr was real bad…no way he would be able to lift that left arm extended over his head.
Just the epitome of what this team is all about. And…..I may get blasted for saying this, but KG has not had the surgery for a reason and it is not just to sit on the sidelines to cheer and drop F bombs. I think he is waiting for the right time to take a chance with his knee. The Cavs series would be that time. All of the C’s know that the Cavs are a different beast and are playing on a higher level right now. It would take the play of KG and the inspiration that would bring to the rest of the team in order to bring the Cavs down. I would not be surprised if he plays should we face the Cavs. He may take the attitude that this opportunity may never present itself to him again while also being inspired by Perk playing through pain. But props to Perk. He never smiles and we like it that way.
Welcome Perkins to the Celtics Brotherhood of Great Centers

Gotta love the Beast!
However I hope his shoulder is OK and that he isn’t taking a big risk by not checking it.

Get off
Your ass and play KG, this is getting stupid. Powe plays 3 minutes on a torn ACL, Pierce is running on fumes, and Perkins is playing with a bum shoulder. That 7 ft wuss can give us 3 minutes per game, or he can take his 20+ mil he made for sitting down half the year and give it to someone who needs the $$ like Powe.
Man we need KG
He’s everything but a wuss, it’s not fair attacking him like that for not playing. We got by the Bulls without him and I know we can get by the Magic without him too. Cavs is a whole different team and if KG would want to play anytime it would be then where we really need him. So lighten up and don’t be so harsh because he would do anything to be out there, we all know it.
