Everyone, and with good reason, hates Celtics and their smug fans
Norman Chad hates the Celtics. I'm pretty sure that every time an article like this is written, Red lights another Hoyo De Monterrey Excalibur nº1 because he knows the Celtics are doing something well.

Not funny or purposeful
Good satire requires a sense of humor and purpose. You’d expect writing like this from a couch slouch. Why the fuss? Let him dig his own literary grave.
I'd love to respond to this point by point but...
there doesn’t seem to be any actual points
just mindless meandering drivel
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" Henry V
Jeff, wait a beat... remember this guy? We went to school with him? he was the weirdo who grew up and became... norman chad...
actually, he’s brilliant because he is honest… homer simpson is popular too, because he’s honest…
really i can't believe someone pays him for that.
When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"
How about responding on this point?
The jackass {Norman Chad} writes :
“They never lost a Game 7 at Boston Garden on a Sunday”.
Really?
Sunday {4-29-73} at Boston—-NY wins Game 7 {94-78}
Sunday {5-23-82} at Boston—-Phil wins Game 7 {120-106}
Articles like that...
just make me like Red even more.
I am pretty young but can still refute a point
he said no celtics fouled out in a playoff game since 1966 but I seem to remember Pierce fouling out last year against the Hawks I am also sure big men have fouled out you can’t just make up facts and if he needs proof here you go http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore?gid=2008050201 what a joke this guy can just be quiet before he makes even more of a fool of himself
just looked through only the the hawks series last year and Pierce fouled out twice and Baby also did once this guy should do a little research before he starts spewing incoherent crap over anyone that will listen
I think
the author was exaggerating for effect
though who can really tell when the article is that bad?
unless of course the whole thing was satirical, in which case it might even be clever
"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" Henry V
Why would anyone hate the Celtics at this point? They've lost Garnett and Powe,
they’re tired and banged up yet they still manage to win. That’s something that should bring some admiration. Like the Rockets, without Tracy and Yao, they hustle and beat the Lakers. Everyone should be a fan of the Rockets now.
As for the Lakers, a team with alot of talent but no heart. If you want to rag on a team, they look like a good fit.
A Hater?

so……Honestly I could care less who hates Celtics and their fans.
Is it Soup Yet?
You and your imperfect false words,Senior Po-Po!
“…couldn’t care less…”
May the thumb be with you.

This was pretty lame because I can’t tell if it’s tongue-in-cheek or not. If there is a debate about it, then it didn’t get the job done.
Also, is this the WSOP guy for espn?
At the risk of being disowned by this site...
I just wanna say as a very-well-traveled Boston sports fan, I have come to understand that Boston area sports fans, by and large, and in general, and bandwagonesque-type style, have a unique and identifiable modus operandi in conversation. Other major media markets (New York is New York, nuff said) just don’t have the overly academic/cultural/historic/dynastic/BLUE COLLAR YET perspective that we New Englanders take for granted = piss off the person we’re trying to EXPLAIN OBVIOUS REALITY TO in the conversation…
He's not exactly Bill Simmons...
… and I’m not even that big a Bill Simmons fan.
Actually, I do think he touched a nerve about Rondo, who could use a little PR improvement.
This really pisses me off.
I liked Norman Chad. He’d always been a fun guy to listen to during the WSOP.
But what the hell is this? Really. It’s an immature—not to mention baseless—attack on Boston teams and fans which is basically at the same level as an internet troll.
Chad should really be considering his job security here. He may well have just convinced the entire Boston area to steer clear of the WSOP.
PS
I’m starting to see why the guy can’t stay married for more than 10 minutes.
See, now that’s the sort of mean-spirited discourse your average person should attempt to avoid. For a professional writer to engage it?

Trolling
If you think he’s trolling, and you’re whining here…well, I’d say he’s done a good job.
God bless and good night!
Awesome piece.
Guys, read it again. It’s an ode to us.
We’re not different from any other type of fan. His hate, it’s all a compliment to us. It’s what we, as fans, provoke. He is what makes us a fan: the opposition.
You need evil to do good, and he’s our evil.
And he knows it :)

The article is awful...
…but it made me laugh so much because it is so ridiculous that it sounds comical. Is this supposed to be serious??? …
The sad thing is...
…most Celtic haters won’t realize that the article was tongue-and-cheek, and will start spouting off the stats as if they’re real. I can see it now.
“Those 8 straight titles the Celtics won were tainted. Red bought off the refs and they never got called for traveling once., blah blah blah”
YOU CAN SEE IT ABOVE ON THIS BLOG !!
I think it’s hilarious how many of the commenters can’t tell if this was satirical – as if the celtics haven’t benefitted from favorable officiating in the past…

Agree with Kiorrik
Okay – I fit his profile, growing up in the 60’s, college in the 70’s, 80’s divorce, 90’s divorce, etc . ‘Cept many at the time had only admiration for Red and the Celts. They were the dynasty, but almost always, the underdog. Bill Russell was undersized against Wilt, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor? The Celtics weren’t supposed to compete. Yet Red and the boys delivered. The champion, the underdog, the champion again – - drove people nuts. Sound familiar?
This piece pays tribute to the Celtic tradition and foreshadows what he expects for this year. He just chose a different way to remind the basketball world that the Celts should not be written off.
