Tony Allen Not Fond Of Marc Spears
According to Scott Souza:
The drama came about 90 minutes before gametime when Tony Allen had an argument with Boston Globe reporter Marc Spears in front of about 30 media members and team staff in the locker room. No other players were in the locker room at the time.
It’s unclear what started the confrontation, but the Globe was among the outlets that reported on death threats Allen had received while in his hometown Chicago this series.
Allen was heard telling Spears: “Don’t let me hear my name coming out of your mouth,” while Spears didn’t back down in the verbal jousting. Both eventually left the locker room with Allen mumbling about Spears, but saying he would be fine as long as he didn’t have to deal with the reporter.
OK, then.

Who really cares?!?!?!
I’m really tired of ole Tony boy myself. He’s becoming more of a distraction then a benefit for this team. I truly hope his days are numbered here. I think his D is slightly overrated and he has done nothing really on the offensive end save for a few good games before he got injured. Hopefully his time and his stay here in Boston is up!

Tony Allen is a thug...
… as is anybody who has uttered the phrase “Don’t let me hear my name coming out of your mouth” other than in jest. I really hope we part ways with this moron in the off-season, although I doubt any other team wants him. The fact that he was involved in a gun crime should have been reason enough to part ways with him.

Yup. He’s number one on the list of people I want out of town in the off-season.
The good news for Spears is this: Tony won’t hit him.
He can’t hit anything.

And a halftime note to Doc:
I DO NOT want to see Tony Allen in the game in the fourth quarter.
NO good reason for it, Doc. None.

can we please get rid of TA?
He’s become the NY-Starbury of this team. Ironically.

Tony Allen, once again, is a moron.

Put a Spear in it
If Tony can’t deal with Mark Spears-one of the classiest reporters out there, he can’t deal with anyone.

Let's keep ...
the basketball and the personal separate, shall we? We don’t know 90 percent of this story or most others involving Allen.
Yes, I’m over him — as a player.
No, I have no clue what he goes through, particularly in terms of dealing with death threats. (Anyone? Bueller?)
Who knows what Allen did? Who knows what Spears did?

I hear what your saying
So I’m not going to slam on Tony Allen, I’ll just say this: I’m giving Spears the benefit of the doubt over Tony.

We do know that there’s a pattern of off-court incidents with him dating back to junior college. Again, here’s the link:

This is in addition to the general mental weakness he brings to the floor, let alone his lack of an outside shot.
He has overstayed his welcome in Boston, and should be subtracted from this club at the earliest possible moment.

I’m not going to slam on Tony, either.
Except to say that he is wicked retahded.

The man is getting death threats ...
… perhaps he doesn’t wan to discuss it with the media. And, you guys are all over him for that. Come on, give Tony a break.

Details...
Prior to Game 7, Celtics guard Tony Allen initiated a verbal confrontation in the locker room with Boston Globe basketball writer Marc Spears, and team personnel had to step in between the two.
Allen, who apparently has been unhappy with stories written about death threats made against him in Chicago, threatened to slap Spears before video coordinator Brian Adams and assistant coach Armond Hill moved in.
I think threatening to slap a reporter for writing a story qualifies as thuggish behavior.

Kind of ironic… Tony’s threatening physical violence when he himself is the target of physical violence. But I agree that we don’t know all the details about the nature of the threats themselves… and the media may want to be careful since there’s always the risk of all this attention increasing the danger to TA and his family/friends.

He will be gone
I really believe his has worn out his welcome here. Too many incidents. I think Danny will try to package him in some kind of an off season deal. Hopefully he can find a taker.

If TA's gonna slap anyone...
He should target Mark Murphy for the hatchet job that came out last Saturday, the one chalked full of innuendo and speculation….
