Perk Getting Married
Perkins is getting married on July 25 and Rondo will be one of the groomsmen. As a result, both will miss out on the USA Basketball minicamp. Big Baby, however, will be going to the camp (though he is invited to the wedding too).

Congrats to Perk!
I’m glad to learn that both Perk and Rondo will get some rest this summer instead of playing in the USA minicamp. Big Baby prefered basketball to Perk’s wedding, it’s a surprise! :D

thought that was mildly surprising
and maybe it is reading tea leaves too closely, but it might be the first sign that he’s out the door
on the other hand, it only helps his free agent sales pitch to say that he’s competing to be on the US squad, so it is likely a business decision

Perk and Rondo are under contract. Davis is a second-round pick who is a free agent and has had limited exposure. He needs any opportunity to showcase himself, and it’s hard to blame him, I guess.

He is a restricted free agent
and his only leverage is what other offers he can get. I think the Celtics will match any reasonable offer and given the state of the league he will only get reasonable offers.

i like hearing Rondo is a groomsman. I wouldn't have guaranteed they were very close

I actually heard
That they were best friends. In recent interviews, I think both Rondo and Perk would talk about how they are best buds. I used to think that RR would have chosen Ray, but RR actually said Perk is who he’s closest to through the whole team. They’re always hanging out with eachother. And the first sign I’ve seen of their bond was last yr’s playoffs, when RR went balistic on the Lakers, (game 6 I think) But yea, RR was taken off the court, cuz we clearly won, and Perk was the first to greet him, and have him this really tight hug, like the posey ones, but in my eyes, it looks more brotherly. And throughout this season, Ive seen a couple of times, of Perk being all extra giddy for his pal. Maybe I’m just looking into it a little more. But I read RR’s blog, and when he talks about going out, Perk is usually mentioned as the invitees…

Great news on all fronts. Perk and Rondo need the rest instead of participating on a meaningless glorified pickup team.
And congrats to Perk.
I also think Davis is gone. But I’m not sure I feel too bad about. His career is a no-win situation. He needs his bulk to compete at his height. But his bulk is going to shorten his career by at least half. If he gets more minutes than he got before Garnett went down through a whole season he will wear down quickly.

Perspective.
Perk and Rondo appear to have their priorities in order. Perhaps BBD does too — he has more reason to play, and he isn’t necessarily as close.
So glad to hear the news. Early wishes for a long and happy marriage to Perk and and the future Mrs. Perk!

the thought just occured to me… have you ever seen either Rondo or Perk smile. Not even as a joke here, but really, not even a smirk. These guys are poker faced. I would pay to see the speech Rondo gives Perk before the wedding ceremony. Probably some pep talk that ends with Rondo saying " No go out there and beast". No one would be able to walk up the aisle until rondo rolls the ball in bounds and picks it up rite in front of the alter.
