Let's Go Magic
Wow - I can't believe I just wrote that. The Cavs' bigs sure did make Perk's effort on Dwight look even more incredible than we all knew it was.
However, this is definitely bittersweet, the Celtics surely had their chances against the now dominant Magic, they just could not get it done. The Cavs on the other hand were pretty much dominated this series.
The key to stopping the Magic is being able to cover Dwight one on one and making sure you stay with their shooters. I have no idea if Bynum can man up Howard, I tend to think no.
Hats off to the Magic for taking yet another step. Welcome to the show. And....
BEAT LA!

Ok that 3 at the end by Dwight was totally tacky.
I do still really really dislike him and think he’s totally overrated. He just happens to play in an era with a complete lack of quality centers.
When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"

Maybe not as tacky as Large James stomping off the court at the end. Heh.
Green17, you are right on re Perk (to think the "experts’ said Howard would destroy him). Alas, the rest of the team was worn down and depleted. Let’s see how Bynum fares. And get everyone healthy and ready for another run.

I can see it both ways
yes a good sport would have stayed on the court….on the other hand, I’m sure LeBron is crushed right now and wants nothing to do with that confetti party.

Bynum is totally lost right now and will struggle mightily against Dwight. It’s going to take an outstanding defensive effort by Pau Gasol in order for LA to win the series.
by Rizzo23 on May 30, 2009 11:16 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Pau is not nearly strong enough to guard Dwight. Howard will be able to get a solid low block position constantly – that is where Perk is so good, he is strong enough to push Dwight 15 feet out before he gets the ball. No one on the Lakers can do that. Bynum is a wimp, Gasol just isn’t built like that. Odom is fake tough. Maybe DJ Mbenga?

Oh and Delonte was fantastic tonight.
Other than LBJ, he was just about the only Cav that showed up – and LeBron had an off night as it was.

And to think, people said Perkins would be at best a journeyman backup center.
After the Magic/Cavaliers series, one’s respect for the Celtics’ effort against the Magic can only be ratcheted up. In particular, the way Perkins was able to play Howard one on one can only be seen as impressive. I’m having a hard time thinking of any Celtics player who has so significantly surpassed what was expected of him after his rookie season.

LeBron Leaves Arena
without speaking to reporters. What an ace!!! He stomps off the court acting like a big baby. Total chump. Can we replace him with the puppet? Speaking of puppets…what’s going to happen with the Kobe/Lebron puppet commercials?

Odom is the Laker's key
If the Lakers want to clean matchup with Howard, Odom’s got to bring his A game to the show or otherwise, it’ll be a quite a series.

Well, well...
I can’t help but post my prediction about this series :
" I pick Orlando in 6 games (they’re good on the road, and they have all the weapons to stop the Cavs). In fact I think that Orlando is the only remaining team that can beat the Cavs, because of their good D, their shooters and their ability to go on quick runs. They’ve shown that they can keep their lead at the end of games, and I expect the Magic to win game 1 or 2 in Cleveland. Plus, the Cavs are not a very good road team.
I expect LeBron to put up crazy stats and to play big games, but I think that his teammates will fail him."
At least my prediction came true once! :D
Go Magic, beat L.A, you sure can do it!

go magic
any team who can beat the celtics deserve to be in the finals. go beat the fakers. i want howard to make good on his promise. dont do a mo williams d-12. as for LeBrag maybe he can go to uncle david’s office tomorrow and demand that he change all pertinent rules to favor him so he can go to the finals , finally, next year. he thinks a LeCrab – Howard tiff will occur yearly in the ecf? yeah right over paul pierce’s dead body.

Superman
Wow, 40 pts. from the big fella, and Ilgauskas never showed up. The Magic are playing very well right now and the Lakers will have their hands full. The matchup of Courtney Lee and Pietrus on Kobe will be interesting to watch.

No, we didn't deserve it.
If it hadn’t been for the Magic’s failure to execute (oh how popular that word seems to be amid the NBA crowd), they would’ve gotten by us quicker.

i read that too, not sure how likely it is at this point as they’re still tentative on it but i like how the magic match up with the lakers already, adding nelson would be pretty huge.
by hawkster77 on May 31, 2009 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
In retrospect ...
Perk’s ability to play Howard straight up is even more impressive. If Bynum can do that, LA should be favored because Odom and Ariza can get out and defend the perimeter. It’s put up or shut up time for Bynum. I predict he’ll crater.
Skip To My Lou did a fantastic job at filling in for Nelson; kudos to Otis Smith (never thought I’d say that) for a savy GM move.
Did Joe Smith disappear, or what?
Congrats Magic. BEAT LA! BEAT LA!

BEAT L.A!!
Nothing would give me more pleasure than Orlando beating the Lakers in the finals. The only thing that may be better is listening to the L.A. fans and Kobe if the Magic win it all. They said it was just a lame excuse that Garnett and Powe were both out. If L.A. gets beat THEY HAVE NO EXCUSE. GO ORLANDO!! Stay out of foul trouble SUPERMAN and let those Orlando 3’s come down like a monsoon!!!
The Lakers and Kobe have finally figured out that tough D and distributing the ball is the way to win. The Celtics showed them how that was done in last years playoffs with those great comebacks and then the 131-92 massacre. GO ORLANDO!!
