What is wrong with Paul Pierce?
He is playing like a totally different man these playoffs. Making dumb plays, taking dumb shots, getting in foul trouble, pouting and missing clutch free throws?
He never did any of this last year and he just seems like a different player then the one we have been watching for 11 years here in Boston. He just hasn't looked the same ever since the end of the season. He isn't scoring as much and just hasn't performed the way he usually does.
So, I never want to hear about injuries but I have to speculate that Pierce has some kind of injury that none of us know about because I haven't seen him play like this in a long time.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Not sure what games you are watching...
but Paul Pierce is playing well. His numbers are good, his efficiency is steady, he’s playing defense at a high level and he’s made some big shots. Sounds a lot like what he did last year. Need proof?
2008 Playoff Numbers
19.7 ppg
5.0 rpg
4.6 apg
44% fg
36% 3pt
80% ft
2009 Playoff Numbers (not including tonight’s game)
23.1 ppg
6.9 rpg
2.0 apg
42.7% fg
33.3% 3pt
84.4% ft
Overall he’s done some things better and worse this year compared to last year. Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo shooting 4-24 from the field tonight might have had something to do with the loss. Not sure Pierce is to blame at all.

How many TOs is he averaging per game?
I feel like everytime he touches the ball (especially in crunch time) he turns it over :-/

Exactly
And one of those turnovers was a questionable offensive foul.
When Paul went out of the game in the second quarter the Celtics were down 2.
Things went down hill quickly after that.
For the game Pierce was +9, the only starter to be in the positive category.
Why do we even have a blog post about PP after last nights game when the rest of the starters with the possible exception of Baby (he shot well but couldn’t defend & was -15 for the game) all looked like total crap?

Numbers aren't everything
Points, Assists and Rebs aren’t the end all be all.
Pierce has not played a good all around game in a while.

Ageing
And he wasn’t any better in the first 8 games of last season playoffs. In fact, I think he was worse.

Short memories
45% fg
41% 3 pt
4.6 rb
4.7 as
Those are his 1st round numbers last year.
His first game against Cleveland was bad, but fortunately not as bad as his defensive charge for the series, LeBron James. If you can outplay James and win the game you’ve done your part. He did just that.

Hurt hand?
Memories from the Chicago series: Pierce repeatedly trying to dribble and having it stripped away. Chicago seemed to be on to something with him – he put it on the floor and they would slap at it and take it away.
