Around SBN: Following UFC 146 Loss, Jason 'Mayhem' Miller 'Done' in UFC

This Makes Me Feel A Little Better (Part 2)

Remember back in round one where we took some solace in the fact that the Magic lost their first game as well?  Well last night the Lakers lost their first game against the Rockets in their round 2 series.  So that's always nice.

See SLAM Online's recap.  Here's a snipet:

Tonight, the playoffs officially began for the Lakers. That first-round series against the shooting-challenged Jazz and their cheesecloth defense? Ancient history. Tonight, the Rockets served notice that the Lakers are in for a battle. "I don't know if we could play much worse," said Phil Jackson, noting his team's 2-18 shooting from beyond the arc.

Unfortunately,

some Fakers fans are saying the same to us. Anyway a Lakers loss is always good news.

I can't help but think

sometimes, when watching Phil coach, that he doesn’t know what he’s doing or looks confused. That’s not the case for the majority of the time I’m sure, but at times I can see him failing to give his team life or energy. Maybe a Lakers fan will read this and prove me wrong. Just an observation.

imho, Jackson is just an awful bench coach, much like Doc. There strengths lie elsewhere

but whether that is true or not, it is true that Houston has a lot of solid players to throw at the Lakers list of solid players beyond Gasol and Kobe. Addditionally they have battier and Artest to be physical with Kobe. This is all a REALLY bad match up for the Lakers.
The Lakers didn’t play well but either did Yao

good for houston. are they better without mcgrady or would they be a terror with him ?

They’re better off without Tracy when he’s playing through injuries.

But if they had a healthy T-Mac? Whew …. I think they’d be the frontrunner for the title right now. His skill set is exactly what that team is missing, exactly what would put them over the top.

My day would have been great

If the Celtics had won game 1 while the Lakers lost against Houston but unfortunately Boston lost too… Anyway, let’s take this Lakers loss as a consolation prize but I’m much more concerned about our team’s resultsts than about the Lakers’ right now.

The Lakers

didnt play well, but that was largly due to the Rockets playing with energy. they came to play and did what they had to do and that is get at least one of the two first games.
