So Long And Thanks For KG
Looks like Kevin McHale is out in Minnesota.
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love says on Twitter that Kevin McHale will not return as coach next season.
In an update posted early Wednesday, Love tweeted, "Today is a sad day ... Kevin McHale will NOT be back as head coach this season."

The title says it all perfectly...
Lets bring him here as a big man coach!
Clifford Ray is doing pretty well in that area...
… although I’d love to see the Celtics find a spot for him somewhere. I assume, though, that McHale likes it back home in Minnesota and doesn’t want to move east.

It's not official yet.
But there goes our hope of bringing Al Jefferson back when he is healthy.
Not too bad a coach
The Wolves did have a nice mini-run before Big Al went down.

Great player but all downhill from there
Maybe even a pretty good coach. Certainly a likable guy to the owner and the players. But what a turkey as GM. My guess is his work ethic is poor. The Sam Lopresti, Theo Epstein, Peter Chiarelli non-player, well educated types are where its at. But you’d rather have a beer with Kevin, most likely, than those others.
This is very good news for Minnesota fans as long as the owner doesn’t blow it.
Overall, he was an atrocious general manager, but there’s a lot of poor-to-medioce franchises who wouldn’t mind having Minny’s current roster to build around. Jefferson, Love, Foye, Gomes… that’s a pretty solid start. Really, add on a decent point guard and you’ve got a pretty good foundation. Wonder if they could move up in the draft to grab Rubio.
double agent?
surely he bleeds green.. hope he finds a gm role somewhere else very soon!
;)
rumors of love to memphis for #2 pick
just read a rumor of minnesota thinking of moving love to memphis for the #2 pick.
i would hold onto love for at least another 2-3 season to see what he turns into… he and big all in the front court is freakin’ scary.

mildly surprised
somewhat surprised he was let go as coach since the team played better under him but once he was out as GM, there was no leverage for him staying on.
As a GM he was the worst I can recall since the days of Ted Stepian’s ownership of Cleveland. He botched his drafts badly. His draft day trades were completely horrible—>trading Ray for Marbury, trading Roy for Foye, Mayo is looking pretty good—let’s see how he develops over Love.
The Joe Smith debacle alone should have gotten him canned immediately. Don’t know how he survived after that.
Absolutely loved watching him play though. Haven’t seen anyone like him since. Big Al is as close as anyone has come to having Mchale’s moves.
owner
I’ll be he wasn’t canned after the Joe Smith thing because the owner was in on it from the start

could be
that would explain it but that whole mess set that franchise back dramatically in their efforts to get good cheap talent through the draft.

So Who Will Coach the Wolves?
I hope it isn’t Thibodeau.
TT
I think Tom said he would sign with the Celtics when he pulled out of the Kings job

Best Low post moves ever !
He helped hang banner(S) and a great guy. If I owned the Celtics I would pay him just to sit in the stands on every home game. Guy is a legend, a winner and A CELTIC.
Is it Soup Yet?
I agree with Master Po and ....
I would really like the C’s to hire Kevin, even on a part-time basis to tutor our bigs. I think C Ray has done a fine job, but to put on the final touches, we need Kevin.
