Draft Buzz Updates
I'm going to try to track some of the low hanging fruit rumors in a single post. We'll see how long this lasts before I have to break it up with breaking news. Check back often.
Draft buzz: Shaq gone, Amare on the move? - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
"League executives say the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors have discussed a possible trade that is centered around sending Amare Stoudemire to the Warriors for a package that would include Andris Biedrins and the No. 7 pick in the draft."
Sources: New Jersey Nets-Orlando Magic talks include Vince Carter, Rafer Alston - ESPN
"The New Jersey Nets are in serious talks with the Magic about a deal that will send Vince Carter to Orlando for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee, two league sources told ESPN.com."
"I will be surprised if the Celtics are able to package Rajon Rondo in a trade anytime soon, because of their need to get equal value in return. But the market as it exists isn't set up for that kind of deal."
Plenty of Rondo talk throughout the top 10.

Carter to Orlando rumor?
Wow.
"It will be fun watching the Lakers get those balloons down one at a time." - Bill Russell

Orlando could really use another guy that chucks it from deep anytime he touches the ball. Sure he is the best player in the deal, but the rotation guys like Lee are what makes great teams.

I wonder why Boston
has not attempted to trade with Golden State. They have a few long term deals for talented guys.

Maybe it was just a rumor on here...
But I did hear them offering Rondo and Allen for Ellis and someone else (Jackson? Beidrins?) It might have just been someone on this site guessing though.

Carter a done deal
I hear the Carter deal is already done and will be reported shortly.

If this happens
We’re not the favorites to win the east next year. (which I thought we were with a healthy KG).

Deal with Carter is...
the dude can get his own shot, hardly anybody on the Magic (mabye Hedo who is probably signing elsewhere) has that ability. Carter for the Magic like Shaq for the Cavs are a “must” if they want a ring.
Danny, need to step it up here soon and we need a good “get”.

Carter may be the most underrated player on Celticsblog.

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate that idea for orlando
turkoglu is the perfect fit for that team(if they get carter they wont retain hedo), and courtney lee is the best role playing rookie ive seen in ages, he has a good upside..
I think the magic take a step back next season, of course anything short of making the finals is a step back, and I dont see them doing it to be honest, afterall they made the finals with rafer altson and not jameer nelson

This is a solid move for the Magic
They’ll be pairing a guy that can get his points by slashing, and also hit the outside shot. Look for the Magic to win 65 games if they stay healthy with that team.

whatever
Read this:
In an interview broadcast Thursday on TNT, network analyst John Thompson asked Carter if he pushed himself as hard as he should have in Toronto.
“In years past, no,” said Carter, acquired by the New Jersey Nets on Dec 17. "I was fortunate to have the talent … you get spoiled when you’re able to do a lot of things. You see that you don’t have to work at it. (ESPN)
Apparently he felt the same way in NJ – “Half Man Half Season Half Effort”

I like this deal
Rondo and Allen for Wade and Haslem. Salaries match…

Hate the move for the magic
Alston would have been great for them and probably would have won the starting job next season, Lee was great as a rookie and would have been a great 6th man for them. Like mentioned above they probably lost hedu with this deal and they probably will lose gortat as well. Pietris and JJ are all they have on the bench i dont see them doign that well. Carter seems to either be great or horrible the games ive seen of him. I think they will struggle against the better teams in the league. Its a lateral move imo and kills the bench

Mmmmmhhh if we think we are going to be the next year only because of Garnett’s come back (obviiusly a great improvement) we make a big big big big big mistake. Orlando and Cleveland want to win now, the are showing us tonight.

phx trade isnt bad though
I think the suns would do pretty well with that trade, you get a double double guy to replace amare and then you can still get your pg to replace nash for the future or whoever else they may want.

Phoenix Deal
I would do it if I was Phoenix. In a heart beat! There is obviously have some kind of bad vibe between Amare and management. Phoenix would at least be getting a quality big man in return.
by Little D on Jun 25, 2009 5:07 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
phx deal is great for both teams i can see amare being his old 20+ ppg self in golden state.

Just A Question
Would anyone consider a Ray for Kamen, Barron Davis deal. I know Davis has a bad contract and you would have to move Davis or Rondo afterwards (Davis), maybe for Megette.
by Little D on Jun 25, 2009 5:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
a 3 team deal that netted us Kamen and Megette for Ray doesnt sound too bad because you get a guy that can replace ray as well as a big man that can play C and PF but doesnt he have injury problems? I would want a draft pick out of the deal too maybe a future one from the Clips or GS for next year.
by adesilva on Jun 25, 2009 5:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Ray to Clips
Davis to GS
Megette to Boston
Kamen to Boston
Future First from GS
I would do that for Ray but i dont think the other teams do.
Clips get Cap Relief so that they can save as much money as they can which im sure they would like to do.
Golden State gets Baron Davis back so they can try and go back to when they made the playoffs. Im not sure if they would be willing to give Magette and a pick though probably not.
Celtics get the best end of the deal imo.

If the Cs trade
Ray to the Clips I’ll have trouble respecting them. Also, is there a bigger fake than Vince Carter in the NBA?

Didn't Vince Carter....
Baby sit my grandfather? Seriously, how old is he? He seems like he has been underacheiving since the early 70s.
by funkstarrdeluxe on Jun 25, 2009 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would feel bad for Ray
mainly because he helped us win a championship and i would feel bad for anyone playing for the clips but i think its a good deal for us to replace Ray for the future. Who knows maybe they could buy him out or something and we could have him back haha

Vince Carter to Orlando is a done deal. So Cleveland improved, Orlando improved and Boston so far has done nada.

Vince Carter is not my favorite player but he’s alot better than Courtney Lee, will you grant me that?
Orlando now has:
C; Howard
PF Rashard Lewis
SF Hedo
SG Carter
PG: Nelson
with Gortat, Pietrus and Reddick off the bench. They need a backup point to replace Alston, and an enforcer, each of which they will get in the draft or free agency.
This assumes, of course, that they resign Hedo and Gortat, which I think they will.
by Brickowski on Jun 25, 2009 6:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
not defensively he’s not better that Lee.
And if they lose Hedo, the Magic go backward for sure.
When Perk was asked what he thought of Howard winning the gold medal this summer, he responded: "What’s his impression of me after I won a ring?"
by Green17 on Jun 25, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
They both have made moves but i dont feel like either of them bettered their chances of being champs. Orlando needs to put a good bench together and The Cavs arent going to get much out of Shaq especially if they use him alot during the regular season he has to get under 20 mins a game to still be effective at his age.

hmmm..boston stands still while
orlando and cleveland sends junk to get all stars…come on danny get your butt in gear and deal tony allen, scal and giddens…

Hmm..
Former All-Stars
Shaq and Vince’s best days are far behind them.
Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don’t make.

boston has to do something in free agency
doing what they did last summer wont cut it

I wouldn't knock the Shaq/Vinny trades
First of all, Cavs gave up virtually nothing to get Shaq.
Second of all, Magic Alston/Nelson probably wasn’t going to work out and Vinny gives them more of a win now mentality- gosh they blew 2 games in the finals with what they already have. Battie was a fill in player and Lee had his moments but really Vinny gives them much more for next year.
Remember how many of the critics said our 3- 30 year old somethings might not be enough to win a championship.
Make no mistake, Cavs and Magic are improved for next season.
The ball is back in Danny’s court.
by brianceltfan on Jun 25, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Why Panic?
We still only need two solid bench players and we’re right in the thick of it.
When healthy, I still think we have the best starting lineup in the league. Both Ray and Paul are better than Vince, and nobody has a better set of bigs to throw at Shaq/D12 than Perk and Baby.
So what if we’re underdogs.

the east is getting harder, we need to find our “freebies” for the bench now

maybe ainge is doing all this
with rondo to drive his price down…make him look immature…nobady offers him what the Cs can and he is forced back to boston

there goes 18
Orlando and Cleveland have got to be the favs out of the East now. I would have not said that but a re-energized VC with Jameer in the back court and all DH has to do is collect rbs and block shots although he’ll still post a double double.
Lebron and Shaq! Are you kidding me? Perk for sure has his work cut out for him but we absolutely need another guy who stands 6’ 10" or kiss it goodbye. My hats off to those franchises they are making moves.
As for us, watch Hudson become a stud of the bench? That would be a riot! We finish second again in the East but I don’t see us taking out Cleveland with Shaq and as you LBJ,,I just don’t.
On a positive note the Pats go undefeated this year!
