Yao May Be Done For Season or Career
"It sounds like he’s missing most of next season, if not the entire 82 games," one league executive who has had recent discussions with the Houston front office told Yahoo! Sports. "That’s all that [the Rockets] will concede quietly, but they know it’s probably much worse."

oof
I’m sure this news hits the Rockets like a ton of bricks
despite the spirited effort this season, I don’t think I’d resign Artest and I would be tempted to hold onto McGrady and his expiring contract to create cap room next year

and
if they want further cap relief, I’d be happy to take Shane Battier off their hands ;)
…too soon?

Looks like they would be willing to trade Brooks+ Battier too for a young PG. They offered them for Rubio
Very Sad News
He is a gentleman and a great representative of the game. He will be missed.
Given our horrible luck with injuries and untimely deaths...
It`s amazing Yao was NOT the property of the Boston Celtics!
Like Powe
Yao is a bit flat-footed. It’s shown up in Powe’s knees I think because he’s smaller than Yao. Look at the way they each hang around the basket and go up and come down. They tend to come down on the entire foot. It’s weird.

That is awful
I feel terrible for the guy, it seemed like Houston and Yao were finally putting something together down there. That is awful. What a bad way to go out.
On a related note, couldn’t they now trade Yao’s contract to another team trying to shed salary, like the Suns? If he is out, insurance will pick up the cost on the contract (I think that is how it works at least), and save the other team a bunch of money. I hope it works out for Houston, I thought they had a good shot at beating the Lakers.

$1,000,000,000
This is a billion dollar issue with CHINA, international basketball, the Rockets, Yao, etc.
Massive.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
Terrible news...
I hope Yao will recover well from his injury but it sounds really bad, and it could be the end of his career, what a shame it would be!
well
I hate the news for him, the Rockets and the League but I never thought he was as good as he should be @ 7ft 6" – a bit overrated but I still hate to see it for him.
Is it Soup Yet?
if we think we had it bad with kg— ow for yao. bad for him and the game. he’s one of the good guys. tho i despise china for what it does, especially to the tibetans and their slave labor, yao seems to transcend all that.
Yao transcends all of that
as do hundreds of millions of Chinese people.
Couldn't agree more Nazzboo.
The Chinese Communist Central government is beyond corrupt. Despise the government love the people and their ancient civilization.

That's too bad
Yao was one of my favorite non-Celtics. He’s such a good guy, too… :(
