I tried ESPN's Trade Machine..does it really work?!
So I was looking for potential help off the bench, and since I live closest to the Golden State Warriors, I tried out a trade to help out the Small Forward position..
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=moc8me
Golden State Warriors get: Mikki Moore and Tony Allen
Boston Celtics get: Corey Maggette
This trade isn't realistic, is it? That's trading one decent player for two subpar at the very best players.
The only logical reasoning behind this is that Golden State would get two expiring contracts to free up $8 million in anticipation of the 2010 free agent class. If this trade is at all possible (which I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt), then why wouldn't we take it? Corey Maggette is among the league leaders in getting to the free throw line, and would give a serious boost to a bench that just doesn't show up to most games. I saw Matt Barnes play while he was a Warrior, and I would choose Corey Maggette over him, especially considering acquiring Maggette will not really hurt our current salary cap situation.
Any thoughts?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

the trade machine is using last year's salaries
it hasn’t been updated
Mikki Moore is a free agent now and we can’t trade him
some people (like me) have been using it as a general guide for players in the middle of their contracts that don’t change very much from year to year, but it isn’t very accurate right now
they will probably update it with next year’s salaries sometime around July 1st when free agents are allowed to talk to agents

I thought that was the case but..
The trade machine said Mikki Moore had two years left, and I thought that meant he still had this year. Same with Tony Allen.

I am sure I speak for at least 1000 Warriors fans when I
say, NO THANK YOU!. You need to offer say Kendrick or Big Baby to get our attention.

Or Paul Pierce
We’ll give you Corey Maggette, Speedy Claxton, Acie Law, and Brandan Wright for Paul Pierce.
(OK, that was just me making fun of my fellow Warriors fans)
Umm… I don’t think we’re that desperate to get rid of Maggette, but if this STAT thing looks like it’s going through and we want to make another addition, having expiring contracts might be better than having Maggette. Who knows, but that’s thinking too far in the future. Maggette is more worthwhile than simple expiring contracts at this point, so this would be a no go…
You have been DFiBrillated.

warriors fan here...
Maggette is horrible.. take him please.. we dont even need anything in return just take his ballhogging and super horrible defense and horrible contract.. i’d even off to help pay for some of it., while he was with the clippers i thought he was ok but my stomach got sick after about 20 games with him as a warrior…
