My Draft Night Experience in the WaMu- Part 1 -Lottery Pick Time
Thanks for reading the first sentence of my first fanpost.
I will read the "Be a blogger" tips for fanposts in Jeff's post later. I hope to edit this post later, but since the Draft is already a thing of the relative past, I will post a quickie. I was there for the first time in my life. Moreover, I, unlike some other CB members here, was in the Knicks Fan section, the section the potential rookie picks would walk by as they left the building.
To start off, the Theater inside was pretty crowded, yet not full by any means, especially in section 305. The fans were rowdy NY Knicks fans, and I have to give them props for that! They are an enthusiastic bunch, and are LOUD. :) I wish all the cameras and bright lights wouldn't obscure the view of the broadcasters and the two sofas where lottery picks were interviewed, and of course I could also complain about how loud the noise was, so much as to almost make hearing anything other than David Stern announcing each pick IMPOSSIBLE. I was thinking WOW, I'm this close to all these draft prospects and David Stern and JVG and Stew. Well, Stern, not really, but everyone else, YES! I decided to put down my camera and just enjoy the atmosphere for once.
I scrambled to get my little camera out to record and snap pictures as the picks became more announced. I could not see the screen, so I naturally had no idea when David Stern would be walking out; I had my camera in my hand at all times, while halfheartedly listening to fans discussions about who they wanted. It was pretty apparent the Knicks wanted Stephen Curry. "WARRIORS SUCK!" "WARRIORS SUCK!" chants began immediately after the Warriors selected Curry.
When Jordan Hill was picked with the 8th pick, booing came from our section, and Hill was booed when he walked up and out of the building.
Just trying out a fanpost, and there's more to come (If I can think of some more to add to this otherwise boring draft night for me) ----- I was secretly hoping for some magical "typical" DA move like that of 2007. :) I didn't really want Rondo to go, but all of these prospects that DA could pick out following a trade could make me instantly enamoured with any of them after reading Draftexpress profiles etc. etc. :)
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
