``I had contact with Stephon a week ago,'' Ainge said. ``He knows our situation. We will look at circumstances for (re-signing) him and he will have to look at the circumstances for himself also.
``We like Steph. We like what he brought to the table last year. We would not hesitate to bring Steph back.''

Bring Stephon back!
He, Doc and Ainge are on the same page so it’s very likely that he re-signs for the veteran minimum. Good news!
So much talk about it, but it sure sounds like the Celtics are waiting to see if they can get someone else.
Hard to determine..
Is it fanboy-hype or….trolls posing as Celtic fans?
Because KG, Ray, Pierce, Rondo and Perk will be gone if Marbury is gone?
I must have missed all the 42 game Marbury won for the Celtics last year.
He can be upgraded.
His play last year certainly doesn’t yell out “bring him back:”
I was onl emphasising the talent available for that price
Picking up another PG is all well and good but who and for how much?
SF and C/PF are the targets . .
He has said he is willing to come back for free basically,
Eddie and Ray can also spell the PG position when rondo is off.
What talent did he show last year?
Marbury played like a well below average backup PG last year.
There are average backup PG to pick up in FA or in a trade (TA/Scali/JR/Walker) during the season.
Here’s what I want in a Backup PG:
A veteran who can handle the ball well and beat a press; a guy who primarily distributes the ball but will hit the occasional jumper. Play hard, and do it for the league minimum.
Stephon Marbury fits that role better than anyone else out there right now, and he is already integrated into our system.
I was against bringing him here last year but I have to admit I’ve come around. His attitude has been great and his committment to defense was a surprise. And you’re just not going to get a better ball handler for the price.
good moves all around
Love Eddie – I think it’s a good move for him and the team. It’s a fair price for both.
Glad that Marbury is saying and doing all the right things. I think he would be excellent as a backup to Rondo. Clearly Marbury can play better then his 30 something games with us at the end of the regular season and playoffs showed.
I’ll miss Powe. But this was the move that had to be made. He just needs to rehab, stay positive, and there will be a place in this league for him again. If not on as a player on a team, the NBA HAS to consider hiring him for public relations and charity. I mean the guy lives and breathes that stuff anyway.
