Posey Or Someone Like Him
With the recent addition of Rasheed Wallace, Boston is almost close to duplicating a tough line up reminiscent of the team that won banner 17 (althought definitely Rasheed is a big upgrade compared to what PJ Brown, with all due respect to PJ, was able to bring to the team before). The only missing piece is a player with the caliber of James Posey. Or we could bring Posey back.
The question is: What would it take to bring Posey back? The Hornets has a depth problem in it's guard rotation. When Pargo went unsigned and transferred to Europe he left a big hole that contributed to the team's struggles. Will they accept a trade that will bring Giddens and Tony Allen for Posey? Giddens of course is not yet within the caliber of Pargo but his impressive showing in D League and the Summer League could help persuade the Hornets to give it a thought.
Tony Allen on the other hand has still a lot of upside that they can harness under Coach Scott plus he's still young which can work further to their advantage since they do have a core of young players in West and Paul. We can further sweeten the deal by adding a big man in Scalabrine which the Hornets can benefit from since Marks' getting a new contract is still questionable.
This might seem lopsided since the team is giving up 3 players for Posey but this will give the Celtics just enough salary cap space to absorb Posey's. It will also give Walker a chance to have more playing time and hopefully help him realize his true potential. No need to mention of course what Posey brings to the team.
But if the Hornets is not willing to give up Posey which is most likely then Matt Barnes I think is the most likely candidate to play the role of Posey. Barnes is reliable offensively and a hussle player. Add to that the age factor which is an advantage for a player who is willing to do the dirty work for a team.
The downside of getting Posey is his age. Posey adds further to the team's aging but unquestionably great players. If the team is also building for the future, harnessing players like Giddens and Allen will be important to ensure the continuation of the Celtics into being a long time contender. But personally I would like Posey to be back.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Ring around a Posey or a Gomes..
With all these bring back articles I have read in the last day or two it got me to thinking about a few of the formers..Posey being one.. Posey does bring a toughness and scoring that the Celtics could use, and I did blog the other day that with the inpending salary cap situation next year (going way down); that it is possible that they could get him back for T&S expiring contracts (which the Hornets could really use); and maybe a guard(Pruitt,Giddons, or Hudson).. But another came to mind..What if we were able to offer say maybe Giddons and Tony for Ryan Gomes.. I think they would have to consider it..Then they could resign Carney..Giddons could have a great upside that they could use in the future, and Tony is still pretty young and athletic, when healthy, and his contract expires next year anyway which could help them problably more than it would help us.. Either way i sure wouldn’t mind seeing Gomes in Green again..So come on Danny give those T wolves a call they helped us out once, you never know……….
Ryan Gomes!
I remember back in the trade that sent Garnett to the Celtics the team was reluctant to let go of one of those traded to the Wolves: Gomes. Gomes is a hard worker and can score. He’s not James Posey but he can definitely help compared to what Tony Allen or Pruitt or Giddens can contribute to the team. You’re right perhaps they can bring him back in.
posey
Posey should not have been let go—Celtics are getting old-need young blood that are good like a Jordan or bird—not settling for mediocrity—unless they want a mediocre team?labron James is on move -Celtics has no money-another 20 years to be what the Celtics use to be? at least go after 7’10" giant from china…..good players thrive on pressure not choke under pressure—which one is DAVIS—TIME WILL TELL AND THE COST—WINS OR LOSSES-DAVIS NEEDS TO STEP UP OR GO OUT IN BUST OF PRESSURE… LIKE A BALLOON AND FLY AWAY OR STAY AND BECOME A DIAMOND.QUESTION—CAN HE HANDLE THE PRESSURE???
