Tim Thomas was bought out today.
He's 32,and he's not too bad of a veteran. If he would play for the 1.3 million. I would take him. He is a 6'10 forward.He played for 3 teams last year. His stats or off. O7-08 he averaged 12 points a game. His stats are pretty good fpr his career. I' m not sure how good his Defense is,or his inside game. He has a good outside game.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Tim Thomas is not what we need
Tim Thomas does not fill the need of what the Celtics meed coming off the bench
this year, here is why:
1.If we resign BBD and offer Powe a minimal contract, we have the 4 covered.
BBD will play, Powe best case will play with 2-3 months to go in the season.
2.Brian Scalabrine does what Tim Thomas already does;
He’s a roll player that spreads the floor at 2x the LLE cost
We need someone who can fill in for the 2/3 positions; Ray Allen
and Paul Pierce;
someone 6’5 – 6’9"
can shoot 44-48% from the field
can shoot 35+% from 3pt range
averages 12-18 mins a game
4-5 rebounds
1 block per gm
1 steal per gm
that’s not too much to ask now is it? Ha HA… yeah, slim pickens with the LLE
as payment. Someone Danny finds that fits this mold will be willing to sacrifice $$ for
a chance of a lifetime to win a championship ring. That’s what it’s all about.

we’re not going to get Powe, never mine getting him AND BBD… I love them both but we don’t have the roster spots to have Leon sit on the bench until 3/4 through.
I agree with everything else though.

Yeah, actually it is. I could only find about half a dozen of guys who average 1 block and 1 steal per game, and neither of them played less than 22 minutes. So good luck finding a guy averaging 1/1 in 12 minutes of playing time.
Oh, did I mention that none of them are small forwards, either (unless you count Lamar Odom as a SF).

I’ve always been a fan of Tim Thomas. He was the James Posey of the Phoenix Sun’s in 2005-2006. Sure that was 4 years ago, but nevertheless he does have a track record of providing quality minutes off the bench.
If I’m Ainge, I’m gonna take what I can get as the options at SF position are dwindling.

It depends on how cheap we can get him. He is not a bad option to have off the bench as a shooter but I agree it still doesn’t adress our glaring needs and he is a marginal defender at best. He would be a Donyell Marshall type with Boston. He did get lose in that Suns series! I remember the obnoxious look on his face as he scorched threes from all over the place.
I think the direction we go depends so much on what will happen with BBD. I read today Baby is twittering how he feels “unwanted and unappreciatted in Boston”…so not true, its a market value issue. He is a SENSITIVE dude going back to his college days. Playing alongside Sheed and KG…you have to have thick skin or you might end up crying on tv…oh wait that already happened. Still love his energy though.

Hahah I don’t blame BBD. If I’m in danger of crying on national tv, I better be getting paid for having my fragile psyche attacked every game. No question, if BBD leaves, he will be missed in Boston.

no thanks
his defense is terrible, and he’s kind of a chucker. No good on a contending team.
