What's Wrong With Odom?
So Lamar Odom was offered $9 million and decided to act like he's not seeing it and talks to the Mavs and the Heat. Well thanks Lamar it will be a great joy to see you in a different NBA uniform next season.
Still I don't see the point of refusing that amount of money to play basketball 365 days a year while he sits with the "Machine" Sasha Vujacic which Ray Allen ran over in a deciding play in Game 5 of the Celtics' championship season and at the same time he also gets to annoy KB when the Lakers are losing.
LATimes also reported that Odom wanted to accept the deal but failed to convince his agent. HE FAILED TO CONVINCE HIS AGENT. Right. Well Odom should've just shouted at his agent, "Hey! Start practicing because next season you're playing for the Lakers!"
Worse they're saying that if Lamar and his agent decides to talk again they will offer him a lower amount. If only he did what Jason Kidd and Grant Hill had done: talk to the Knicks, use them as a bargaining chip and later on gets signed to a contract favorable to them. But there's still some time Lamar so call the Knicks now and you might get a better deal from the Lakers. Or better yet we might see you next season receiving a pass from Darko Milicic. Nice.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Can Detroit sign him?
if so, that would make BBD less attractive to Detroit which is all good.

Detroit only has 3.2 million…so the short answer being NO.
The Lakers did a great job of calling Odom’s agents bluff. Odom is still 90% likely to be a Laker, but Odom is now gonna be stuck with a lower contract all thanks to his agent.
I love seeing agents get their bluffs called. First Ariza, and now Odom. Upgrading to Artest, while Ariza’s agent thought he had them by the balls was brilliant. Mitch Kupchak is on fire.
Odom will get his money.
He will not take a lower contract. The Lakers will pay him ,or he’s gone. They need him,and if they don’t see that. Better for the rest of the league.
the lakers don’t have to do anything. Once odom realizes the best offer he can get is 8 million a year from the blazers, he will be stuck going back to the lakers for less money. The pressure is all on lamar. All the lakers need to do is wait and see what the best offer odom gets is, and they will simply match it. the key point is Odom WANTS to be a laker. He just doesnt have an leverage to force them to pay him.
Exactly Robi S
Uhm, guys like Buss have been doing this for, let’s see, 30 years and won a few rings along the way. this has been totally mapped out. for odom to leave there would have to be a massive cap dumping somewhere for a player no one will actually do that for.
if Odom hated LA, maybe you’d see a sign and trade…
but not in this case

I agree Buss has done it along time.
Maybe he’s been doing it to long? Look at the Yankees and George steinbrener. Al Davis of the Raiders. Some guys lose it with age.
Did you get a chance to watch any of the playoffs this year or last year? Two consecutive trips to the finals, and one championship doesn’t exactly scream that he lost it.
