Baby for Outlaw... Hmmm

I like Big Baby Glen Davis and I will be very happy if he returns to the Celts but since Danny seems determined to move him, or so we hear, it would be wise to consider Travis Outlaw. Rumor is that Portland has a crush on our boy and wants a back up big who can hit an open mid range jumper. Well wouldn't the Celts like an big 3 who can play 4 in a pinch... I think so. And after watching last years playoffs I think we need a long 3 to spell Pierce more than we need Davis to back up Perkins, Garnett, and Sheed. Outlaw can hit 3's, play defense, and is only 24 years old. I think this Outlaw would be more of a need than Davis with our current roster although you still need someone not named Mikki to play C/F. What ya think Celtic nation? Outlaw stats below.

Your Idea makes since for us but not for them. Portland take Baby but not in a trade for outlaw

Portland fans don't like Outlaw much.

Familiarity breeds contempt, as the cliché goes. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Portland fans get behind something like that. Although, fans also think Outlaw is worth more than that. It’s kind of a fan paradox. On the one hand, we don’t want him, but on the other hand, everyone else in the league should give up a quality starter for him. I doesn’t make any sense, but fandom seldom does.

The more pertinent issue is what the front office in Portland thinks of him. And by all counts, they think pretty highly of Outlaw. Probably more than he’s worth. So a trade involving Outlaw would really have to make sense to Portland. Davis does make some sense for Portland, as they need a backup PF, which Davis is. However, there are bigger holes to fill, such as starting PG, and perhaps starting SF (though this one is less of an issue than even reserve PF in my opinion). I think Portland will hold out for a starting PG in exchange for Outlaw and probably another piece.

This may very well mean that nothing happens. And I’m okay with that outcome as well.

that would be sweet.

that would be great, but probably not likely to happen. Outlaw has some real value and potential. I agree he would be a great fit, and his services would actually be more needed than BBD’s at this point, but like others said, idk if portland would do this.

oh and to T Darkstar..

It doesn’t really matter what the fans think. It matters what management thinks.

Outlaw is a nice player. I do think that Portland would want more…The thing that would make sense for Portland is that he would be a piece they are missing…A wide body banger who works hard in the paint. He would compliment Oden (If he can ever stay healthy) and Aldrich. He would give them a physical prescence off the bench. Outlaw is alot more of what they already have… So this would not be that far fetched from my perspective but Portland would really have to be sweating BBD to let Outlaw go for him. I love BBD but if he is going to leave that trade would ease the pain a bit. I don’t think it is likely though. By the way, Portland has a great nucleous if they can tweak a little…who knows.
