Marbury isn't gone by a long shot- will he resign?

Lately, there's been more of a buzz that Starbury may actually come back and resign with the Cs for the minimum + whatever else may be added in for signing for a second year. Let's face it- he certainly doesn't need the money, as he was able to leave N.Y. with a well padded bank account [ take a couple of zeros off, and I'd still be a happy camper with what's left ]. What he does need is (A ) championship ring [s ] in order to put a finishing touch to an otherwise up and down career, which, to be generous, saw him go nowhere in the end. (B) He also needs to be wanted, both as a person, and most importantly, as a player for personal validation.

The Cs are the only team that were willing to take a chance and sign him, and while he showed only flashes of his former self as a player, [ rust takes time to remove, after not playing for more than a year ] in the few months that he played, he showed that he still has a tremendous amount of talent. Should he rejoin the team, and come to training camp with an attitude of helping to hoist at least number 18, and keep his ego in check [ which he's already shown he can do ] he could be a tremendous asset coming off the bench to spell Rondo.

The second unit could easily look like this: Marbury, House, Daniels [ as he appears to be close to being locked up ], Big Baby [ presuming he'll resign ] and Wallace.

I'll take this second unit over a large number of the balance of the teams first units for offensive power, and decent defence. Wouldn't you?

i don’t know why, but i’m beginning to like the idea of marbury more and more this offseason. i’ve never been a fan of his, but he seems like the safest option at this point. We would arguably be the deepest team in the league with that lineup.

Strong second unit with Marbury

People forget how good Marbury can be because of his timid showing last season. With a training camp under his belt and the chain cut off he could do work on that second team. If he signed for the minimum…what is not to like. Don’t forget as nutty as he is, he is an all star caliber player when on all cylinders. It all boils down to if he can figure out how to play within a team framework and put some of his ego on the shelf (not all of it!). Marbury and House had great chemistry in stretches last season. If Steph gets back into attack mode think of how much the floor will be spread…

Possible second unit: 1. Marbury 2. House 3. Daniels 4/5. Sheed, Baby (hopefully), Powe(for playoffs possibly).

Wow…look out.

Man i love that line up, sound good to me, but apperantly Marbury would rather play in Europe for a team nobody gives a FLYING FLIP about than stay with the that pulled him out of obscurity.. Marbury you didnt say “When I grow up I want to play for the Olympico’s”.. May not have spelled right Thats the only european team I know .. That should tell you something..One of these days a Championship ring is gonna be worth more to you then all the jewlery you have bought with those millions of dollars..

How many other teams in the NBA are gonna be after him?

Boston has all the leverage. Just leave a spot open on the roster when he realizes European’s don’t shower

marbury cares more about money and being Starbury then to be a role player on a contender.

The boston experiment was taken just for him to show other teams he still has it, which he clearly didn’t. While he is an adequate role players. Starbury, Iverson, Shaq are all guys in the same category. They rather seen as big dogs, regardless of where they are.
i don’t think stephon will put himself thru another season as a role player

Sooner or later

I think Marbury coming back is somewhat inevitable. Sooner or later, both sides (Celts & Marbury) realize that this is the best place for him. With his potential, Danny would be foolish to let him dangle too long. If he is coming around to accepting less money, Ainge needs to reach out and close the deal. Or at least reach a verbal agreement.

Marbury wants to come back

It was right after we signed Rasheed Wallace that Marbury started talking about coming back. He knows that we’re going for the ring next year and he wants in.

The celtics may have the deepest most talented team in Celtics history

The starting 5 is the best in the NBA.

The first 5 off the bench will probably be:
Marbury
House
Rasheed
Baby
Daniels
One of the most talented benches in the NBA.

The 2nd string bench players will include more depth and talented players in case injury or slumps effect the first 10 players, they include:
Pruit
Giddens or our draft pick this year
Swift
Walker
Powe

Wow with this potential squad if healthy the celtics will be stackedthis year with quality servicable players.

The Cavs, Orlando and the Lakers sure must not like what they having coming toward them this year.

Good job Danny.

Title # 18 is as good as ours.

it doesnt mean anything if they dont win the title, so I would reserve best Celtics team ever for about 9 months.
