Blazers sign Andre Miller

Today it was announced on Yahoo Sports via Marc Spears that the Portland Trailblazers have come to an agreement that will bring 33-year old PG Andre Miller to play alongside Brandon Roy in the Trailblazer back court for a reported 3 year 22 million dollar contract.

After failing to seal the deal with forwards Hedo Turkoglu and Paul Millsap, the Trailblazers have finally added a missing piece to their talented core of young stars. The Blazers in previous years have bee known for their consistent reliance on the half court game, rather than the pushing the ball up court in the fast break. The addition of Miller will likely change that. Miller, who averaged 16.3 ppg 4.5 rpg, and 6.5 assists last year in the run and gun Philadelphia 76'er offense, will most certainly bring the Blazers to a new level.

In his younger days, Andre Miller was touted as one of the elite point guards of the league and has since put up consistently high numbers in both points and assists. Miller will be leaving the athletic duo of Willie Green and Andre Iguodala, for perhaps an even more atheletic core of LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, and the exciting Rudy Fernandez off the bench.

While it remains to be seen how much the 33 year old PG has left in the tank, one can be certain that the Trailblazers are a better team with him. The addition of Miller will take most of the ball handling pressure off of Roy. It appears that the offense, which was ranked one of the highest in the NBA, is about to get a much needed boost in the backcourt.

This will help them.

He’s got at least 2-3 years left. He has not played a whole lot of playoff basketball. So his body should be okay in that sense. He is really durable. They have some trade pieces now. They can trade Blake off now. He really helped in there last two playoff runs in Philly. The Blazers have more talent so it could really fit his game. This is the best team he’s played for.

you said it. The blazers will prob be major players at the trade deadline, because i believe they also have room under the cap too.
