Do Not Put Stephon In A Box
For those that missed the 24 hour chat marathon, here's a link to a synopsis of the event. Here are a few bullet points.
- Do not try to put Marbury in a box. He doesn't enjoy it. Seriously, that was the theme of the chat. Marbury said/yelled "They tried to put me in a box!" what literally felt like hundreds of times over the course of the web broadcast, from start to finish.
Did you see the chat event? What did you think? Did it change your perception of Stephon? Or did it solidify your perceptions?

enjoyed the ustream
i was in and out of the ustream all day. i thought he was hilarious. I like him more than I did before. He reached out to the fans and I think he responded pretty well to a lot of the questions, considering there were a lot of haters in the chat room.
percetion changed but for the worse
I saw part of the stream and marbury a pretty cocky guy. He showed me that he was pretentious, and actually quite concerned about what people think about him. He was annoying, not professional and kept talking about his “haters”. Sounds like a bitter dude to me and frankly my perception changed from wanting to give him a chance to no really liking the guy as a Celtic.

Fizzyice, are you kidding me?
I’m not much of a Stephon Marbury fan but when I saw his stream, I found his cockiness and talkin to the haters to be hilarious. It was entertaining to watch.
Seems like you just want to watch the guy wear a suit the whole stream and answer questions professionally…
You must really have chill friends in your life, bud.
Cocky? Sure.
Just FYI, there are a lot of those in the league, especially on our team. : )
Pretentious? In the time I was there, very rarely was someone banned, despite the idiocy said to him. That to me would’ve been pretentious and unprofessional, that he bashes his haters but bans them for talking back. But, telling those haters how it is on his stream, when they bothered to come in in the first place? If you don’t like that about him, I can’t hold that against you. Either way, he didn’t really reply to them unless he wasn’t already answering questions, but he didn’t seem to go out of his way to address every single person that talked negatively about him. For example, someone said he was a bum for wanting to sit on 20 mil, something to that extent, and, to put it nicely, he basically burnt that guy, pointing out the contradiction, and the whole chatroom fell on the floor laughing. Is that what you mean?
Still, I didn’t see anything in this stream that implies he cares what people think about him. Personally, I don’t think pointing out how people seem to care so much about him means vice versa either. I mean…you know, he did confess on the VERY first stream he did that he had sex with that woman. That’s enough for me on that issue.
That event changed my life! That’s my net motto: “They tried to put me in a box, but it’s impossible!” He answered plenty of question, including 5 of mine, and was doing what the people wanted him to do (show them around his house). He is very open and real, I just love him and if he goes anywhere but Boston, I will de very disappointed.
But the performance was epic. This goes into the history books!
I thought it was entertaining when he decided to actually answer questions. Maybe he was just reaching out to fans but does anyone else think he had another motive for doing this? Why would he stay on for 24 hours?
I’m glad he thinks his body is back. He should have taken the stream to the gym and showed what he’s doing to get ready. Lift weights, sprints, jumpshots ect. That would have been better.
I don't want him in a box. I want him overseas.
If he’s in a box, Ainge might open it up and put the guy on the roster.

Epic broadcast from Marbury.
I have seen about 3/4 hours of the broadcast (at different times of the day) and it was really an interesting experience, and a funny one. Sure, Marbury was annoying at times by repeating some quotes but my appreciation of him growed, though I liked him before the event.
It was great from Marbury to keep his promise and stay with the chatters for 24 hours, a stunning performance, and a “world premiere” since nobody did it before.
Stephon "Marburied"
This stiff belongs in a box!
Marbury is a goofy dude
And his Ustream 24 hour broadcast was a great idea. Props to him for pulling it off while fasting! That’s pretty impressive, especially at his age. All nighters get harder as you age, and then not eating? Crazy!
I hope he comes back too—the guy deserves some good in his life and winning a ’ship with the Cs might help him repair his reputation. I still think he has plenty of game left.

Brick, Brick, Brick...
I look forward to more of your insults – thanks for helping balance the love…
Stephon must be a fan of....
Ryan Leslie- “Yeah they tried to put me in a box, It’’s impossible, R-Les…” (Diamond Girl)
Funny dude nonetheless…
This reminds
me of the Justin Timberlake song from SNL.
"Do you know that nonbelievers create the most positive energy?" Davis said
I’m used to many of the NBA players not being educated, but does anyone think that Marybury is a few cards short of a full deck? And does his behavior bring his value down not only in the NBA market, but Europe as well?
If he doesn’t want to be put in a box, maybe he would like to be with a fox.
Couldn't disagree more
Steph is a very smart dude. Say what you will about his education, but he is as sharp and with it as they come. He just expresses himself without inhibition.
And no, I doubt it hurts his market value.
God bless and good night!
Enter The Marbury Zone
Ok so I heard Dickerson say last night on NEST that he could wait to get back to Steph Ustream….So I must have signed on after NEST I guess 7pm…Now keep in mind although his twitter account says location Boston Ma(a little hint where he will play or lack of updating settings?) this broadcast was from his house in LA. So it was 4:00pm PST where he was at this time.
1. First reaction when I saw Stephs Ustream was horrified followed by laughter. I said out loud to myself, “what the hell…?…” I realized I had entered the Marbury Zone..Cue Twilight Zone Music Please.. Steph was in a dark room(his movie theater) with no shirt on and he looked exhausted. Apparently he had been swimming and I guess thats why his shirt was off. Steph was quiet looking very tired. Steph was staring half awake at his PC reading peoples comments. Just when you thought he was not going to say anything Steph would burst out very loudly, “I’m not gonna bring the camera into the shower!”. I began too laugh and realized that people were asking him to do random things. So I figured I might as well jump into the live chat.
2. Obviously one of the best parts aside from Steph was the fans comments. You had three options. a) just write something on u stream way below the video feed kinda boring and out of site out of mind posts b)tweet through your twitter account c) create a u stream account and chat
I have twitter so I tired that first and i realized Steph was not reading from twitter which surprised me because he always replies back on his twitter page. So I realized he was mainly reading only the Ustream chat. I signed up. extremely easy and then saw the comments. They were flying in very fast. I could see why Steph could only focus on this. In fact it was on, “slow mode” which meant after you would send a im/chat you had to wait 45 seconds to send another. I also noticed that his stream had hit 60,000 visits in the day. There were about 700 people in the live chat. People comments were funny, immature, loving, and of course cruel. Some people just kept sending ims of Boston Celtics or NY Knicks, others would make fun of his assistant/web guy and many would im shout outs; which apparently Steph likes. Steph would say loudly, “Shout OUT! Drdre3000……………Shout OUT! lilred420” and so on. You can only imagine…
3.Now at this point it’s been about 10 mins. Most of us would sign out, but Steph then started to leave the room. He was wearing his Boston Celtics game shorts, which I thought was a good sign. Steph then went up two floors and was actually really showing off how fast he could do it. Steph would say, "this is how in the ghetto we would train our legs to get strong" and he would bolt up like 40 steps really fast. Once upstairs you could see his bedroom. Steph was now getting ready for his shower and you can only imagine the comments at this point. Next thing I know he announces he is going to take his shower and says he will be back in a flash. He then turns on what sounded to be a killer sound system and played, "Knock You Down" by Kanya West. Steph then starts dancing and getting his grove on all over the bedroom. At one point Steph stands up on the bed and just is a dancing machine. Probably one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The comments were out of control and Steph was too doing this all with just his Celtic shorts on.
4.Finally he showered and randomly three cable guys came out of no where and started working on his DVR box. Then the PC was moved to Stephs balcony that showed a solid view of LA. He then puts shaves his head with some state of the art white buffer looking electric razor and puts like 3 or 4 lotions on himself. I have never seen anything like it. Steph then debuts his new T-shirt which says "I Care". Steph asked fans to go to his website and purchase them. At this point it was going slow so I signed off.
5.I signed on later and he was on his cell phone in mid conversation I thought with his Dad. Steph told this person that he had 60,000 people visit his Ustream and that he had a plan. That plan is to have a reality show. Then he said it’s Al Harrington. It sounded like they were going to get together and play basketball or something. I think then he asked his fans who we would like to see have a reality show. And he started reading them out loud, "KG, Shaq, Kobe, Paul Pierce, Scalabrine" I think Scal was mentioned like more than anyone one else. Then Steph says Madoff! Ohhhhhh mannnnn thats low!" as Steph laughs out loud. I then logged off.
6. I then log in the next morning at 7:30am EST aka 4:30 AM PST where Steph is. He was really tired at this point and loosing his voice. Thats when he said that he cannot go to Boston because he wants to play more than 10minutes a game. He said he loves Rondo and that he is a superstar and it would be fair to Rondo that Steph be on the team. Then I logged off
7. So thats my experience
Apparently
He also said he is done with the NBA. I think Steph has just completely lost his mind, and at this point it probably isn’t in the teams best interests to bring him back.
Startacular
I watched quite a bit of it actually and found it very entertaining. But at one point he got a phone call around 3-4am Est. Time and then there were a lot of haters and he said real loud… I gotta go take a leak, threw the mic down and about 45 min he didn’t come back yet so I don’t know what happened w/ the “pillow talk” b/c I logged off.
This is pathetic
If you spent time watching Stephon Marbury on a 24 hr stream, YOU HAVE TO GET A LIFE. You know it. Nothing against him. I’m fine if he comes back. He got rhythm going with Eddie and played hard on defense and I never thought it would work but he was OK. But c’mon. He’s one of the dumbest guys in the NBA.
Maybe if you spent all 24 hours on the stream...
But, I think I only spent maybe two or three hours watching him. I think that’s OK for a college student with no summer job. : (
Anyways, if there’s anything I learned from that stream, it’s that Marbury is not dumb. Not even close. TBH…I wonder if my brother would get along with him. <_< I think they would. And I don’t think my brother’s dumb either.
Bring Steph Back
After watching his live feed, I think he is a real good person and i like him now more than i did while he was with the team.
nobody puts baby in a corner
Sorry I had to say it
