How can Dallas afford Big Baby...
… if they are going to use the full MLE on Gortat, according to the reports?
Sounds excellent to me.

from the NY Post
According to sources, Washington looks like the favorite for Stephon Marbury’s next gig after Boston came up with an initial offer of $1.2 million, the veteran’s minimum. Flip Saunders and Marbury are intrigued about reuniting. Sacramento also has inquired about the guard.
Playoff caliber
As long as they don’t have to deal with a ridiculous amount of injuries like last year.
ZING! ZANG! ZUNG!
Wizards are over the cap, right? And do not have an owner with deep pockets? They’re surely only going to offer a minimum contract too, right?
I think Steph should take it. I think re-uniting with Flip Saunders will be good for the remainder of his career.

yeah way up there
3rd in the league currently in payroll, so I don’t imagine they’d offer more than the min either. Unless they plan on trading someone.
Baby...
… is not after a starter roll or minutes, he’s after $$$$$$$$$. I don’t blame him!
don't know if the starter thing was mentioned because of this
but big baby did say something in one of the boston papers about wanting to either start on a young developing team or be a back up on a contender. he’d be a back up on dallas and i’m not really seeing how they’re a contender with the Spurs, Lakers and Denver (and possibly Utah and Portland) ahead of them in the west alone. but maybe he just means veteran playoff team.
but i do agree: it’s about the $$$. i don’t blame him either, although having an opportunity to start would in most scenarios enhance his future value and hence earnings, i have to think.
bye bye baby
and good luck. You gotta go for the dough while you can, good for him.
Lot of interest, not to many offers
One starts to wonder if Davis is basically the fall back option for many of these teams.
I think it’s worse than that for Davis – I think he’s the guy that everybody likes but nobody wants to pay

He’s kind of screwed being a restricted free agent. I’m still a little confused every time I see rumors or even suggestions that Baby would get $5M+ per year. I can’t really fathom that. I’d probably go $4M maximum and that would be contingent on certain other cap and budget factors going forward. We’ll see what the market sets his value at probably not too long after Wallace (and maybe McDyess too) signs.
I also wonder, seeing how Tanguay is dispersing a lot of this info, if the interest is a good deal of spin coming from Baby’s agent.
Once the
top tier free agents commit, the Davis likes will follow.
