Is Danny slipping?
Everyone can agree that bringing KG and Ray Allen to Boston was a genius move. Of course, we knew the only thing standing between us and Banner 17 was building bench support while over the cap. He starting off like a champion, signing House, Posey, and getting Davis. Then PJ Brown and Sam Cassel. 17 was a sure thing.
Posey was the ideal 6th man. Why couldn't we give him a longer contract? Why didn't we use the MLE in an attempt to replace him?
Why didn't we use the LLE to try to sign a guy more valuable than Moore?
Why did we keep Gabe Pruitt and then not play him?
Fast forward.
Why couldn't we give Marbury a bigger contract?
Why couldn't we sign Powe to AT LEAST the minimum in hopes of a recovery?
Are we going to keep Pruitt, Walker, and Giddens on our bench rather than trade them for someone a little more valuable?
Are we going to keep TA and Scal (who both play limited minutes) and then have their combined 6 million dollar contracts expire?
Are we gonna let Ray's contract expire, and get nothing in return for him either?
What's gonna happen if Big Baby doesn't come through?
What's gonna happen if Rasheed doesn't come through and we have to settle for a lesser guy?
Sorry Danny, but i don't think i can place my full trust in you any longer. We really need to start thinking into the future.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I don’t think Danny is slipping but I do beleive Danny is not a very good GM. McHale kicked KG out the door and then directed him in our direction. So we got KG on the strength of McHale being a past Celtic, not the genious of Danny.
He trashes our young point guard in public, that has a contract comming up!
Doc won’t play young players
We don’t need Rashee…. what we need is McDycess and Grant Hill.

judging by his comments, doubt McDyess is going to go to a team that is too far from Detroit.
it’s pretty common knowledge that Grant Hill isn’t leaving Phoenix unless it’s for Orlando (where he owns a home) and is just using NY & Boston as leverage to get as much money as possible from those 2 teams.

what
I dont think Danny is slipping at all. We didn’t give posey a long contract bc we shouldn’t have. He’s already begun to slow down, and we didn’t necessarily need him. IF we had used the MLE last year, we couldnt use it this year and there would be no way of signing sheed. As for Pruitt, with young players, you have to take risks. Danny did not know how he would turn out, and he’s still young. I personally don’t think he’ll pan out, but the only thing this costs us is a spot on the (inactive) roster.
As for this year, why would you give marbury a bigger contract? He plays timidly and is not right for this team. I’ve always hated him and still do. Powe is likely not going to be signed by anyone else, or even looked at until he recovers. We have plenty of time with that.
How could we trade pruitt, walker, or giddens for ANY value? think about it, they haven’t proved a darn thing in their careers.
And what makes you think that we’ll let ray walk for nothing? and there still is a very good possibility that scal will be traded this year

He’s not slipping, its just things didn’t pan out or happened the way you envisioned it to be. People loved the idea of Moore coming here before, he just didn’t perform as people hoped for or what we would have liked. We all know peole had doubts as well when KG and Ray was reported to coming to Boston, and I’m sure you know what it resulted into.
If its gonna go with talent and for roster space, I’d rather have Giddens and Walker than have Pruitt in this team.
Actually had Wallace coming of the bench in my nbalive09 Boston roster a year ago. Didn’t expect for it to be a reality =D

That doesn’t mean we couldn’t have taken every step possible in case things didn’t pan out the way we envisioned. Money should never be an issue (we shouldn’t object to pay ANY luxury tax).

Ainge is a good GM. He is not remotely close to the level that many on this blog want to elevate him – a great and flawless GM.
Your post points out the good moves he’s made, and his resume of mistakes, which is subsantial.
He’s off to a good start this year with Rasheed Wallace. Good move. Now, he needs to come up with a long wing who can shoot the basketball and hopefully defend, and probably a backup point.
Let’s see how it all works out.

We’ve also gotta think…How much of Wallace was DA and how much was KG? We know KG had a big part, I’m thinking without him it never would’ve gone down.

I wouldn't list Starbury as a reason to doubt Ainge...
We had to use the full MLE on Rasheed, and the LLE should go towards a better player (like Grant Hill). If Starbury wants the veteran minimum, great. If not, move on.

Yeah but we could’ve given him 2-3 years.
