Celtics: Here and Now
The draft was a sleeper but the free agency has been a blockbuster as we see some of the league's big names being grabbed by teams who wants to stay in power.
But despite the recent movements by other teams to bolster their lineups, Boston is still considered as a contender for next season's championship. And who wouldn't? The Big 3 is still one of the leagues most formidable trio to come around and Boston's first five, as many believes, is still one of the best in the NBA.
But then again the reemergence of Boston as one of the league's best took a lot of years to happen and I don't want to see this end once The Big 3 slows down because of their age. The trio of Rondo, Perkins and Davis should be well taken care of. And they should start developing their past draft picks: Giddens, Walker and the rest are gathering dust sitting too long on the bench. I'm sure Coach Doc and his coaching staff have plans for these guys but it has to happen now while there are still guys in the team who can bail them out if they messed up in a game.
If not for Garnett's injury Davis wouldn't had a chance to show what he's capable of in last season's playoffs while Powe became a reliable back-up out of necessity when Boston had a thin frontline during their Championship season. Now that it is apparent that Marbury might not agree with the offer of Boston I hope that they don't force House into playing PG again because we all know he's more effective receiving the ball and throwing those three's rather than setting up a play. The team has a lot of point guards in it's rotation (the latest draftee is again a point guard). Give these guys a solid place in the team's rotation. It's a waste of salary cap to sit them and certainly these guys are in the team because they saw something in these players that can help them win games.
And Bill Walker. I believe this guy has a lot of potential. His athleticism is something that the team can use and the fans can be crazy about.
I'm sure Boston would like to ensure that there will be life after the Big 3 and just like every Celtic fan I don't want to suffer again the frustration of defeats and a losing season after their era ends. Boston has the right pieces to start with. They just need to work on them now.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

i agree with you 100%. the shelf life of big 3 is 2 years. in that two years we can give our youngs playing time to develop. who knows maybe we have a big diamond in the rough. doc needs to start trusting the youngs.

The problem fits in Doc’s Rivers lap. As long as Doc refuses to play the youth we will have no future. This is not good management of players. Marbury was brought in, but I dont beleive Marbury’s game was better than Pruitt, offense or defense. Marbury’s salery was 1.5 salary. And they say they can’t afford Powe. All Doc had to do was play Pruitt in the first place. Speaking of Powe. If you go back and look at both Powe and Big Baby’s stats you will see that Powe’s numbers are better, and he already knows how to play defense in the paint. Big Baby does not have those skill’s yet.
The rookie Hudson has a agressive personality like a marine out of boot camp. He’s a hard charger that can score. By the end of this season Eddie House days here are over.
Looking at the summer league game in Miami Giddens game looks just about on par with Walker’s game. What I noticed about Giddens was he naturally plays better defence than Walker.
