Knickerbockers Offer Hill One Year Deal
Comments
So NY really doesn't want him. Only offering one year? What for?
No way he’s going to NY for one year. He’s coming here.
How about his wife?
Was she offered a long-term singing gig? We need to know the important stuff.
NY is not far from Boston. She should have no problem working in NY and living
in Boston for one year.
In the words of the silky smooth Walt "Clyde" Frazier
She will soon be “dishing and swishing” in the Big Apple
No matter where he goes – one year contract is plenty. Nice guy, could have been a great player except for the ankle (plus I admire his tenacity to try and keep playing) but the guy made a lot of money just sitting. I say let him go to NY – there are other fish in the sea.
Is it Soup Yet?
This is a blessing in disguise...
Hill`s old, fragile body is a ticking time bomb…a career ending injury waiting to happen.
he's not that good
He was good, but for someone who started and got 12 points a game on a lousey team, I think we can find someone else who can do that.
I hope we don't offer more than 2.
Have fun in NY losing 60 games Grant!
I would like to have him here, but would MUCH rather CJ Miles (who is what TA should be!)
Isn’t Miles the guy that was getting absolutely abused by Kobe. I mean abused. I’m just not getting the CJ Miles love at all.
Kobe makes, a LOT of people look bad.
That’s why it’s tough to base your opinion about a player off of one playoff series. If I remember correctly Watson was also nursing an injury towards the end of the season, which could explain why he looked so bad. I don’t remember specifically what it was. But it was definitely limiting his playing time down the stretch and into the playoffs. He was starting all regular season and didn’t start a game in the playoffs.
Not being a Watson apologist. I could go either way with him. but just saying …

NOT A FAN OF HILL
Wasted years and money and fans time in Orlando.
Sure, he might be skilled above the shoulders, but I’m not so sure he can help this team going forward.
.
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
Agree with Master Po
Good comments Master Po (and you left Scal alone). Great move with Rasheed but we now have enough championship caliber vets. We need some youth getting court time and I have good vibes about Giddens and Walker backing up the 2/3. Eddie is option 1 at backup 2. Marbury is gonzo apparently so I think Pruitt and Hudson should get long looks. Pruitt hasn’t grabbed the job, too timid, so Hudson has a chance (assuming he’s got game of course). Please no Tyron Lue or other career 3rd stringer from another team.
from toddlers to elders in 2yrs
the Celtics should sign an advertising contract with AARP this season..
One year?
Are you kidding me?
Hill must be out of his mind.
I don't get it.
Why invite him to NY just for a one year offer? Do the Knicks really want him, or is it Hill that really wants NY, and why?
Bottom line
Ok what are the knicks doing by going after Hill anyway?? It makes absolutley no basketball sense at all. Here’s my take first of the Walsh and D’antonie have nothing better to do this summer really think about it. They are waiting untill next summer to really start working until then Walsh and Dantonie will parade around manhatten going to fancy restaurants with big name veterans such as kidd and hill just to show Dolan and the NY Media that they are trieing to do something here for the upcomming season. What B.S. and balony just to spend the owners money to recruit players that dont fit into thier long term plans. If Hill chooses the knicks over a serious contender like the Celtics I would be shocked as much as NY has to offer outside the court I have to believe Hill is smart enough to see that the knicks are just doing a PR move to bring him on board for a year because the Knicks dont care about the upcomming season and are waiting for next summer it’s so obvious. Do the right thing Hill go get a ring!
not always about a ring
Hill may not be looking for a ring, but instead a better opp for his wife and family. Is career is near end with plenty of $$ already. 1 year could be all he wants. NY could be a good place for him amd his family, but not for basketball. That may be a higher priority for him. If it is, so be it. I would never begrudge anyone for picking family over self or career.

?
what’s stopping him from going to NY with his family after he retires in 1-2 years? He doesn’t need to play for the Knicks to do that
Giving his wife a career boost may be more important to him (and her) right now. Perhaps they don’t want to wait. He could still pickup a paycheck (reportedly more than Boston can give) for this year and make the wife happy too. Not saying this is what he is doing, just speculating about his thought process

not worried
not too worried about Hill now that we have Sheed. there are other options to Hill whereas there was a serious dropoff after Sheed.
If we get Hill, swell. If not, there’s still a handful of other good options for backup wing available.
Live in NY, Play in Boston
He can do what Mike Gorman does- play in Boston, live in NY. This way his wife has her opportunities in NYC and Grant plays for a ring in Beantown.
If Hill really wants to do this for his family...
…and go to NY, I don’t have a problem with that. If he doesn’t care about a title, he probably won’t care enough to train at a level where he can be effective anyways, something like that. If it’s heart’s not in it, it’s all good. Nothing’s set in stone, but no point in having someone in Green who wants to be somewhere else.
I’ll say this though. Hill possibly may feel that since only Doc came to see him while the whole front office (yes people, I DO mean the Big 3 too) went to see Wallace, he feels a bad vibe from that. That he’s expendable and Wallace is not. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s very realistic regardless; we’d all, I assume, rather have Wallace than Hill, and thankfully we have Wallace. And who knows, maybe Hill knows that getting him would be gravy at this point.
SOOOOO, that all said, I wanna how the Celtics really feel about Hill in the form of a contract that either matches the Knicks’ or surpasses it.
pretty funny that ...
the article says:
The Post reports the Celtics could only offer Hill $1.9 million, which is considered significantly below his market value.
significantly below his market value? what are they trying to claim the market value is for a 38 year old who just played 82 games for the first time in his career last season?
